New Head Coaching Records
Let's take a look at the NFL teams with new head coaches and see how their records stack up.
Rams: 0-6
Bucs: 0-6
Browns: 1-5
Chiefs: 1-5
Lions: 1-5
Seahawks: 2-4
Jets: 3-3
Colts: 5-0
Broncos: 5-0
Honestly, you can put anyone at head coach of the Colts and they would be undefeated at this point. Peyton Manning calls all the plays and everyone knows it. All of these teams, besides the Colts, were in disarray last season and were in desparate need of a change. Looking solely at records, I think the Broncos made the best pick.
Remember when we were considering the likes of Raheem Morris and Steve Spagnoulo? And everyone was upset that we didn't hire Spagnoulo because he's a good Defensive Coordinator. Hindsight is always 20/20.

in spags defense that team just doesn’t have the talent =)
A truth can only be expressed and enveloped in words if it is one-sided. Everything that is thought and expressed in words is one-sided, only half the truth; it all lacks totality, completeness, unity.

In spags prosecution
Neither did we, at least on the defense. He could have cleaned house also.

+1
I wonder what kind of fail the Broncos would be in right now, had we hired Spags.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

With Spags here we would be slightly better than last year
Simply getting rid of the DC and finding someone that had a clue would be worth 2-3 games. Cutler would be here and the offense would be only slightly different than last year – big plays and then deadly turn overs. The common wisdom was that Devenr had one of the most powerful offenses in the leauge and little needed to be done there.

So far I'm mighty happy
and I’m sure we’ll finish above Spag’s Rams for the year. I mean, really. But 6 games is an awfully short time frame to judge a new HC. Even one year is too short.

I'm glad you pointed out the colts situation.
The real coach of the team is, hands down, Peyton Manning. He calls the plays, breaks down film and probably coaches the defense too (not sure about the last one, but it sounds right). It’s not gonna be hard to be a rookie head coach in Indianapolis.
Good post, but it’s interesting you say that McD was the best coach of them all. I agree that he is the best coach, but let’s look at something other than the record. He inherited an 8-8 team. The other rookie coaches (Bucs, Lions, Chiefs, Rams, etc.) did not inherit good teams……….. or even average teams at that. Sure, McD did blow up most of the roster and get new players, but he started with a great WR corp and a great O line and built around that. On other teams with rookie head coaches, they are starting from scratch with a pish posh of players that don’t fit together very well and aren’t very good on their own, either.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Come on guys...
No Todd Haley? Or at least very few. The guy has made some pretty good decisions (he doesn’t decide how much they pay Cassel btw) since he’s been in KC, and he’s a very aggressive play caller. Aggressive plays are unexpected, and that reaction usually gets you places quickly against any defense. He made some good defensive player choices and is making much out of little with the KC offense. They need more receiving options on the field for a guy whos used to spreading the field like Cassel, and they need a realiable back also. Larry Johnson just doesn’t ring my bell, but I like Savage, they should hang on to him.
With all the moves this offseason for the Chiefs I thought that they would be sitting in 2nd for the AFC West for sure. They lost a close game to Dallas that I thought they should have won, but I wont retract my prediction. Denver will be sitting up top with KC trailing in second, though their record probably won’t give them a shot at the wildcard this year.

Todd Haley's contentous style ..
Will never work nt he locker room. I dont see him ever having success as a head coach because his players with be inconstant turmoil because of him.
Ask Tony Gonzales about how well that works. He doesnt respect his talent. Mc Daniels was supposed to be this ego driven dictator who could never win over his players. That tag belolgs firmly on Haley, not McDaniels.
The Chiefs will never see success with Haley as a head coach. And I have not been im pressed with Piooli as GM.. He was all hype coming out of NE and he has done nothing to justify it so far.

Picked Caldwell for the
simple fact that he has Peyton Manning and the rest of the guys do not. He will win more games because he took over a team that was already a contender
