On the Broncos' depth, most notably at RB. I know everyone just writes about McD & Co. creating their own version of the Patriots in Denver (because it's easy to write), but does anyone else see shades of the Giants? I figure the Giants offered the model as the one team that beat McD's legendary '07 offense and he wanted to copy elements of their team as well...Ryan Harris and Peyton Hillis were limited participants yesterday, while Kenny McKinley missed practice. Ben Hamilton, Alphonso Smith and Spencer Larsen missed practice again with their injuries.

I have read that throughout this year we will have end zones that we previously had int he last 50 years.
Thanks for the good reads
Thanks as always nyc.

This Ayers stuff just crystallizes my point about reporters
They need Don Martindale to tell them that Robert Ayers is playing well, before they can turn around and tell their readers. MHR readers already knew it days ago, (assuming they believe my evaluation,) because I saw it with my eyes, and wrote it days ago. Most major media outlets lack anybody who can see it and say it, without asking anybody what they think. We’ve got a few people here who can do that.
By the way, I really like Martindale’s point about fantasy football making people’s surface-level evaluation too statistical. I think that may be the primary driving force behind my desire to do Between The Lines.
Great stuff as always Doug. Thanks and rec’d

On Ayers
Ted did you see much of him in college? The reason I ask is that I remember reading some of the reports on him coming out and if I’m not mistaken, he wasn’t known for his sack total. He was known for getting pressure and for his side not being run on successfully.
Since he came out, a lot of the talk has been the expectation of sacks. But he’s never been known for that has he? I think a lot of that came from those videos of him at the Senior Bowl?
Anyway, reading that article on him was enlightening. He is being ask to hold the edge and contain the pocket which doesn’t let the QB escape when Doom is headed his way. I don’t want to draw conclusions that aren’t there but upon close inspection, MHR has highlighted how many of the picks in the Denver draft were for specific purposes. Is it fair to suggest that Ayers wasn’t drafted to necessarily get the sacks but for his ability to get the assists?

I thought the same thing, Ted
Shows your ST&NO is sticking with me. I noticed on Sunday Ayres getting around the play often. I suppose after seeing Moss completely flame out and WIlliams take time to develop in Houston, my expectations are pretty low for 1st rd DE’s.
As to the FF angle, that’s just making things worse. I don’t do fantasy, but I’ve got no problem with it. Just can’t stomach the thought of wanting some player to do well against the Broncos or other scenarios like that. Anyway, we’re already subjected to Bill (PC) WIlliamson’s tripe as it is and with the influence of FF it’s just going to get worse. (sigh) oh well, guess that just makes me more grateful for MHR.
Richard Seymour is a girl.
Ayers is doing okay. He needs to start making some impact plays, not just being a part of setting them up for Elvis. He has done a decent job pushing the pocket inwards. If he were to recieve a grade on games one thru three it would be a B-.
He has shown improvement since preseason, but he is not yet an impact player.
Love the Broncos. Mike Nolan is a genius.
Morning all
Thanks Nyc.

didn't they also take Oakland last week?
you know…for what that’s worth.

I don't know
I doubt if they did they had it as one of their locks, though.
Of course, they still think Denver has an undersized finesse defense.
I heard Flozell wasn't playing last night in the MHR radio chat.
Anybody got a link on that?

Somebody cited Schefter last night
as saying Adams wouldn’t play.
The Firday dallas papers are reporting Adams will play.
He’s not that good anyway.
Love the Broncos. Mike Nolan is a genius.
He's a terrible player anyway...
He gets turnstiled by good pass rushers, and it wouldn’t be a Cowboys game if he didn’t take 1-2 penalties. I give you “Pro Bowler” Flozell Adams.

“Denver might really have a shot at being really decent”.

He really takes a stand doesn't he

He took a stand that Kyle Orton is terrible.
As you know, I’m not the biggest fan of McDaniels or the Cutler trade, but even I said Orton is a decent player that I’d much rather have then a Cassel or Jason Campbell (straight up).
Tubbs doesn’t know what he is doing or saying. He is a fool.
Love the Broncos. Mike Nolan is a genius.
I don't get the Zo injury
It’s supposedly an ankle, but when he caught that airmailed JR pass on the sideline last week, he caught it and mimicked running back for a pick 6. He stood there vigorously running in pace. This was after the supposed ANKLE injury. Wonder what the real deal is.
Ayers lookin' good
Guys, just imagine this for a second, knowing that we have a rough schedule up ahead. We have a first round talent that’s just looming in the wings should opportunity creep up around week 12. If he just bursts through for us with the lookings of a Steelers’ or Ravens’ linebacker, that’d be fun to watch.
