Super Bowl team is a player away

Reading the recent trade wind speculation, I saw that the Raiders may be motivated to trade away Richard Seymour.  The question is now, what would the Raiders be willing to get to part with him.  Obviously, the Raiders traded away a 1st rounder for him so they would presumably be looking for something in that neighborhood, but in reality, they are stuck between a rock an a hard place.  They have no chance at resigning him after this season and they aren't going anywhere except back into the top 10 of the draft, right now they may be willing to cut their loses and get a player or two and a lower tier draft pick.  Seymour obviously still is a top flight DE and a difference maker, he understands the 3-4 system and with him and Doom lined up on one side, teams are going to be having a hissy fit deciding how to block them.  While I agree that Seymour's crap against Clady was stupid and pretty much a sign that Clady is the best OT in the league, the guy would make Denver's defense scary in that they would have difference makers at every level.   Davis is ripe for the taking and it's not like they haven't made deals with Denver before, I say make the phone call and see how low you can get him for.  Look he traded Moss for a 4th rounder, Davis is not the sharpest tool in the shed anymore.  The other reason to get Seymour is so the Raiders don't trade him to another team in the AFC that we may have to play in the playoffs (say Pittsburgh or Indy).

As long as we make the Raiders suffer (can we trade Travis Henry for Seymour?)

I like the Henry/Seymour idea.

I believe that we can easily convince Davis that Henry is still playing. :D

Plus

The dope conviction would make Henry more appealing to Al.

Richard Seymour is a girl.

Honestly, I don't think it would happen for monetary reasons.

If it did happen, I’d welcome him, though. Doom would be stoked with that addition, too. QBs wouldn’t know what to do if we had Richard on our team. Our defense would be unstoppable in an instant.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I used to think return specialist was the missing piece.

Looks like I was wrong about that! : )

A monster DE34 might be the other piece. Seymour would certainly help. But, I am not totally disappointed with our current guys. They’re playing hard and making plays.

A BIG, tough, mean, fast LG would be the other missing piece, imho. I respect, admire, and appreciate Hamilton, but I fear that he is at the heart of our short yardage struggles…

Interesting idea

It really would depend on what we had to give up. There are still a few positions on our team where I’d like us to invest via the draft, so as to have a dominating team for years to come. Trading for Seymour might set that back. For example, if you get him in a trade, but you have to send the 1st to the Raiders – wouldn’t it be better to invest that 1st in a long-term solution at the position? 2nd even would be high for me. But the idea is interesting.

And it’s better than my big trade idea, which was Roscoe Parrish, because Royal obviously couldn’t return kicks or punts. (Inserts crow into mouth).

Sorry Broncoman

I don’t think we need him. The chemistry is right on the D at the moment and the guys on the line are doing a magnificent job. Ayres is developing nicely and by next season may well be the player we always suspected he would be. Save the money to give out contracts to those we want to keep next year.

I know we keep talking about who to take and what positions to concentrate on in the draft. But to my mind that rather depends on who we acquire during FA. Coach did a fabulous job this preseason and I fully expect him to repeat it next.

The draft could well be used to bring in those who will develop in the medium to long term.

I have so many friends some I haven't even used yet
