John Elway named Walter Camp 'Man of the Year'
Former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway was named the recipient of the Walter Camp Football Foundation's prestigious "Man of the Year" award, the organization announced.
Broncos President and CEO Pat Bowlen said, "On behalf of the Denver Broncos Football Club, I'd like to congratulate John Elway for receiving this great award. In addition to being the greatest Denver Bronco of all time, John is one of the few who is among the greatest players of all time in both college and pro football. His receiving this accolade from the Walter Camp Football Foundation is an honor well deserved by John for public service and community work that equal his greatness on the field. He has always been generous with his time for a myriad causes that benefit those in need and it is gratifying to me and the entire Broncos organization to see John named for this honor."
Elway joins a distinguished list of former winners, including Roger Staubach, Gale Sayers, Dick Butkus and Morten Andersen, who was last year's recipient.
The Walter Camp "Man of the Year" award honors an individual who has been closely associated with the game of football as a player, coach or close attendant to the game. He must have attained a measure of success and been a leader in his chosen profession. He must have contributed to the public service for the benefit of his community, country and his fellow man. He must have an impeccable reputation for integrity and must be dedicated to our American Heritage and the philosophy of Walter Camp.

Nice!
Congrats Johnny.
All you get from drafting the "best player available" is a team full of good football players.
Cotton McKnight: I'm being told that Average Joe's does not have enough players and will be forfeiting the championship match.
Pepper Brooks: It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

One of the few
The Duke of Denver is one of the few sports stars that deserves to be admired and looked up to as a ‘hero’, a term used all too loosely for sports athletes, imho. One of, if not the, original team players of the modern sports era. I’ll never forget being amazed when he voluntarily restructured his contracts so the team could get better. Still amazing. Congrats to a guy that lived giving 100% to the teams success.

Well done, Mr. Elway.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.
