Broncos Win Today!!

I know most of you probably don't care but thought I'd let you know that a Broncos team did win today so the winning tradition continues.  LOL  Explanation after the jump.

Star-divide

I am talking about the Ordway Broncos, a 5th and 6th grade team from the small community in the Arkansas Valley on the Southeastern plains of Colorado.  The Ordway Broncos defeated the Rocky Ford Chiefs by a score of 6-0 to win the Arkansas Valley Youth Football League Championship.  LOL I am the Town Recreation Director for Ordway, which means I help run all of the Youth Sports programs.  Our boys did it just like the real Broncos, with a nasty defense.  This was the third time in the last 5 years they made the Championship game and the first time they won it.  Just thought I'd let you guys know that there was actually SOME Bronco football this weekend and that it was winning football.

P.S. I don't know what it means for the Pro team, but our boys went 9-1 on the season.

GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!

Funniest part about the names......................

The town of Las Animas is the Raiders, the 5th-6th grade team couldn’t get enough players to field a team even though they are as big a town as we are and their MiddleSchool team was on our Schedule (I coach our Middle School team) but they had to forfeit the game against us because they didn’t have enough players academically eligible to travel that week. LOL pick the Raiders for your name and you get the Karma that goes with it.

Actually our own high school team is the Chargers (as in big white horse) but we use a variation of the Broncos logo for ours.

Our elementary is the Colts in every sport but football where we are the Broncos, and the Middle School is the Mustangs. My daughter is entering high school next year and as we raise quarter horse and own a white one with blue eyes, she wants to ride it at the football games just like they do at the Bronco games. The horse’s eyes are blue and our colors are red and white, I am trying to find out if there is a way to get red colored contacts for a horse so he will look meaner and cooler when she does ride him at a game.

Las Animas Raiders

…your telling me a 5th/6th Grade team couldn’t field the game cuz their players were not ACADEMICALLY ELIGIBLE? You gotta be s h i t t i n g me! That IS priceless. You really do get the karma of the name to go with it. Package deal. Does the school principal look like Al Davis?

No.................

They didn’t get enough kids signed up for 5th-6th grade football to field a team. It was the Middle School (7th-8th grade) that had to forfeit to my Middle School boys team this year because they didn’t have enough kids Academically Eligible. But yeah, that is pathetic. LOL

Tell those little Broncos congratulations for me.

I’ve been to all those towns quite often with all the various sports my kids have played.

If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

What a small world this is!

I went to High School in Crowley County about 25 years ago . I didn’t play football there but did do basketball and track there. I’m a bit surprised that they can field a football team at the 5th and 6th grade level but perhaps there are more students at the lower grade levels to make it possible? Are your teams the regulation 11 man football or the smaller eight man football teams which would make more sense at a lower grade level?

Las Animas should have a much larger team but then again the Crowley County teams use the entire county. Back when I played the Fowler Grizzlies was the big rival in all of the sports and we always seemed to get whipped by the Rye Thunderbolts. It was really nice playing in Rye though because it was in the mountains compared to most of the other schools we played. The coolest team name locally had to be the Rocky Ford Meloneers although we didn’t usually play them in most sports due to them being larger than us.

Anyway you have probably eaten some of the beef that my parents donates to the Crowley County Days BBQ.
