He said whaaaa?
What's kickin' everyone? Surely not B Marsh--at least not this week! Being that our beloved Broncos had the week off, I decided to revisit my post from August about my personal predictions on the year (found here) and I couldn't have been more wrong about a lot of things, most notably, our ability to pass rush. Anyways, over the past few days, I've looked over every single team left on our schedule, and based on their current records (and teams they are yet to face), I've come up with a fairly reasonable prediction for the rest of the season. I predicted all the way through week 17, which is 16 games for the Broncos. Take a look, and see if I'm not right. :P
Week 8 @ Baltimore (3-3, coming off bye)
This week is a challenge, but not nearly as bad as we all previously thought. First things first, if you disrespect the Ravens ability to make your life hard, you're just asking for trouble. However, with this team, these coaches... well let's just say they haven't been overlooking anything. I'm looking for Cool Joe Flacco to have an alright day. Baltimore's not a big "screen" type offense, but hey, if it gives them a better chance to win, then why the hell not? Anyways, Orton's going to have a pretty decent game. He's not going to have another 300 yard day, but I foresee about 210 passing, 2 TD's and 0 INT's. Not even Eddie Reed is going to get Orton's first legit pick of the year. Not today, not ever Ed! Broncos win 31-20
Week 9 vs Pittsburgh (5-2, coming off bye)
Again, respect Pittsburgh. and respect Big Ben's ability to make life real hard on our secondary. I'm not saying he's going to be lights out, I'm just saying his scrambles in the pocket that buy extra time could prove to be an issue with the secondary. It's been the achilles heel of pretty much all of Pittsburgh's opposing secondaries thus far anyways. Pittsburgh has an extremely talented pass rush, and they know how to use it. our O line will have their hands full this day, but ultimately, Mr. Ben and his Steelers offense can't do to us what we will do to them, which is run the football and run it hard. We win this close matchup, 24-21.
Week 10 @ Washington (currently 2-4, by my estimation, they will be 2-6 entering week 10)
We win. 35-6
Week 11 vs SD (currently 3-3, I predict 4-5 entering week 11)
San Diego has revenge on their minds, but unfortunately revenge won't be served at Invesco. It's too cold for them and we literally make LT cry. Rivers does what Rivers does, making passes that are meaningless stat fodder, but doesn't get more than 1 passing TD. Sproles breaks off a deep kick return and gets all the way to Denver's 35 yard line. We still win the game though. 27-17
Week 12 vs NYG (currently 5-2, but they will be 6-4 entering week 12 with losses to Philly and ATL)
Thanksgiving, in Denver, primetime, on NFL Network, with turkey. These dudes show up and do so in rough fashion. Hey, it's cool though, because at this point, Doom's already got 13 sacks on the year, and gets 3 more on this good evening. Eli is good to start, but folds under the pressure from all angles. Mario Manningham grabs a couple TD's but also gives away a couple picks that he could have fought away. In any event, we will win this game. 31-17
Week 13 @ KC (currently 1-6, will be 2-9 entering week 13 with a win vs Oakland)
Eh, it is what it is. McD knows Cassel's weaknesses perhaps better than anyone, and with KC's current play, everyone else knows them too. McD game plans against the poor fellow robbing him blind with 4 INT's (yeah, I said 4) and he also fumbles once. Our defense is proverbially "Lights out" and KC's defense....well, it's not. Win 49-9
Week 14 @ Indianapolis (currently 6-0, will be 9-3 with losses to Houston, New England and a desperate Baltimore)
Indy came to play, and Manning's not exactly a bum. He's basically considered a genius after he helps his receivers become household names. He's one of the few quarterbacks that actually make the receiver better, not the other way around. Our offense is steady and stellar all day, but Mr. 5000 seems to be Denver's achilles heel. Loss, 31-17
Week 15 vs Oakland (currently 2-5, will be 3-10 with a win vs. Washington [assuming a coaching change takes place])
Eh, Oakland shows up, but they never really "show up" if you know what I mean. Apparently field day happens in the pro's too. Win 31-3
Week 16 @ Philly (currently 3-2, will be 8-6 with losses to NYG, Dallas, ATL, and SF)
Philly's desperate, and for good reason. They have a playoff berth riding on their next two games. Denver is merely standing in the way of their playoff chances, and they play that way. This one's close but Philly does what it needs to do to keep them alive for one more week. Loss 17-14
Week 17 vs KC (currently 1-6, will be 3-12 with wins vs Oakland and Cleveland)
Denver's got that first round bye, and KC doesn't have anything--except a potential second round pick, barring the idea that St. Louis actually wins a game. Todd Haley looks like a pure fool here, being outcoached and his team outplayed by second stringers for a half. Chris Simms grabs a few TD's, and Knowshon breaks that ever-elusive 1,000 yard mark with an accompanying 2 rushing TD's. He's got 9 on the year, but he's the front runner for rookie of the year. Win this game 38-9
We will go 14-2. Who said something about 13-3? You're crazy. I'll tell you what's crazy: Josh McDaniels winning coach of the year, Elvis Dumervil breaking the record for most sacks in a season, Brian Dawkins being as close as ever to his ring, Kyle Orton being in the Pro Bowl, and Knowshon winning RoTY! Hey, that's crazy, but it is going to happen. Watch and see, and if I'm wrong, I have the defense of "Well, I'm no expert, but I am a homer"

CJ, Nice picks!
BDawk ain´t losin´to no doggone Philadelphia!!!
If we can beat Manning this will complete the circle. If we really are undefeated going into that game, I think Kyle will be not only in the Pro-Bowl, but getting consideration for MVP.
A guy can dream can´t he?
Smokey, my friend, you are entering a world of pain.

Hey, if he beats Manning in his own house, there has to be some kind of MVP talk for Orton at that point.
Anyone who disregards that is estupido.

He's already done it once
KO might as well make it two in a row down in Indy. KO is 7-1 against Brady, Manning, Brees, Favre, Rivers, and Big Ben. His only loss was in his rookie year @ Pittsburg. Btw, you made some great picks! I hope your crystal ball continues on after the bye!

While we're at it
let’s make it wins over Manning squared……

Like your prognosis Joe but...
If we do get to Indy at 12-0 (and I believe we can), we will be playing against ourselves at that point and going for home field throughout the playoffs…If we don’t beat ourselves we will be a tough win against, even for PM…Go Broncos!

When we meet Indy...
It will be the huge showdown of the Undefeateds! Ain’t no way Manning losses to Houston, et al.
That is going to be the game of the year. The NFL’s two most balanced teams going hard for 4 full quarters.
It’ll be a close, physical contest. The team with the ball last comes out on top…

Houston's a lot better than people give them credit for.
And when it comes to divisional games, they will show up. I’m still saying Indy loses three games before they play us. At the very least, they will lose 2 (1 to Houston, 1 to New England)

They definitely are. Houston beats the teams they should and plays the others close. But they still lose to better teams. And Indy is a much better team. It won’t be a cakewalk for Manning but the Colts will gallop away with the W.
If there’s any team that could be undefeated going into the playoffs, its the Colts…

Steelers, Giants, and Colts all scare me
But if we can win one of those games, I’m right there with ya at 14-2.

You're a brave soul, Calijoefornia
I think predicting games that far down the line is like predicting next week’s or next month’s weather. Too much can happen between now and then, injuries, off-the-field incidents, fluke deflected passes, who knows what… etc., that could cause major changes in how those games play out.
The “experts” often have to make predictions because it’s their job — the good ones just recognize the level of futility inherent in the exercise. The idiots are the ones who make their predictions with utter confidence, a swagger, and an air of judgment (hmm, John Clayton anyone?).
So many of these games are tough… Balt, Pitt, Philly, NYG, Indy, SD…. We’ve definitely learned that we have the capability to win them, but to label each a W or L is really going out on a limb, and requires some courage.
Just because something has happened in the past doesn’t mean it’s going to happen in the future. I think a wise approach at this point is to let go of the past, and to recognize the first loss may hit the Broncos out of the blue. To be honest, I think it wouldn’t be such a bad thing — I think a team could benefit from having to handle that type of disappointment, which is an opportunity to learn how to bounce back. It may end up helping the team in January.
I’m not saying the loss is absolutely coming, but the ball can bounce both ways….

Agreed.
I’ll be unhappy every time we lose a game come game week. But from a speculative perspective, I can say — in the abstract — that I’m happy if we go 6-4 from here on out.

Now someone is talking some sense. Just saying, for the sake of the youngsters, brace yourself. That’s NFL football, unless you’re the Patriots, who probably will go 13-3. So, now you may proceed to flog this comment, but we’ve all seen it before from most every team. It doesn’t mean the Broncos won’t have post-season success, even if the Broncos lose 5 of 10. Just relax.

Not looking ahead for any reason.
We beat the Pats who out lasted the Ravens and I see no reason why we can’t beat them. Only thing is, the Ravens are coming at us with both barrels loaded (Mason and Rice), so it won’t be easy. DJ and Davis will have their hands full with RB Rice who has been Flaccos dump-off guy as of late. Mason is always a deep threat and Champ will have to out smart the old wily veteran. Mark Clayton will be matched up against Andre’ Goodman and I see this as a real test of wits for him trying to keep up Clayton on the outside. Pressure, pressure and more pressure just like we have done from the onset. Flacco doesn’t need to be comfortable back there and I believe our defense is up to the task.
On offense we have to establish some sort of running game aginst a very good Raven defense. They have given up 2 100 yard rushing games already this year but still average around 74 yds/game. It won’t be easy running against them but if we can get the ball rolling it will open up passing lanes for Orton. Marshall could have a big day with the Ravens secondary who have been struggling. I personally would like to see Hillis as FB in front of Moreno on running plays so he can beat down the ever dangerous Lewis and Ngata. Have a great game Sunday.

Wow Calijoefornia
I made a post that had the same predictions, game for game. I feel like I’ve robbed you. Although, in fairness, I had no formula, just the previous W/L records, and a projected W/L for each team up until the week they play us.
I feel dirty, but still so clean. Ahh hell, your post is great!
(snicker snicker)
sorry for the plagerism, it was just too good an opportunity to pass up. :D

Good post, but i have to disagree.
The Colts to this point haven’t beat any team that is worth a crap. We have Josh McD who was with Peyton’s nemisis, and knows how to beat him. Our D rocks, so I think that it will be a LONG day for Peyton. I don’t disagree with the record, just that we will lose to Indy. Also, we are NOT Shanny’s Denver, We are Jedi’s Denver, he makes the adjustments that Shannahan never did.

After Doom sacks the NFL Commissioner, we will be granted the first ever 17-0 record, just for respect. heh.
