Upset Picks of Week 8
Undefeated again! Great week in picks. The only regret I have was not taking the Bills, but who could have known the Panthers would lose at home to a team that is almost as bad as they are. It was nice to see Cutler get spanked and I finally predicted the Vikings downfall after I don't know how many missed calls. The Cowboys game was my pick of the week and an easy one considering most people would be all high on the Falcons after their forty-berger beat down of the 49ers. All around, a perfect week!
This week is a huge week in upsets for me. I don't think I've ever had this many, but I've got to follow my gut and my gut says, DO IT. I have SIX, count 'em, SIX games I'll be picking for the upset this weekend. And of course, our beloved Broncos are once again heavy underdogs.
Now, onto WEEK 8!
Last Week: 3-0
Overall Record: 17-11
*NOTE* For those who wonder, I look at the percentages from Yahoo! and take a look at my picks and compare them to what everyone else picked on that website. If a team has under 30% then I would consider it a high risk pick, a team that has been picked between 30-40% would rank as a medium risk, and 41% to 59% would be a low risk pick.
High Risk Upset Picks:
Buffalo Bills over Houston Texans
I swear, Yahooers are such homers. The Texans, historically, are horrible playing in poor weather. I can't imagine them going into Buffalo and winning. Buffalo has had a very rough early season, but appears to be regaining some momentum. This is the riskiest pick of the day, but I've got to go with the home team here. Bills 19, Texans 14.
Other possible high risk upset picks I did not pursue:
St. Louis Rams over Detroit Lions
Medium Risk Upset Picks:
Philadelphia Eagles over New York Giants
Honestly, this is my least favorite pick. The Eagles have som einjury concerns, but the Giants appear to be falling into their typical mid-season slump. I still think the Giants are the better team, but the Eagles are at home where they always play well. I'll give them the edge, though not with much confidence. Eagles 27, Giants 24.
Denver Broncos over Baltimore Ravens
Yes Bronco fans, our boys in orange and blue are once again dogs to an inferior team. Vegas has us 3 pts down, about 40% of yahooers think the Broncos have a shot. Personally, the Broncos have yet to let me down and are 5-0 when underdogs. I think the Ravens are having some major defensive issues and their offense is going to have problems against our superior defense. My own line keeps rising each day, Broncos 27, Ravens 13.
Green Bay Packers over Minnesota Vikings
This weekend we will find out if God is sympathetic to Packer fans or if He is a Farve lover like the rest of the world. Personally, I think the Packers will destroy the better Vikings team. I don't even think it will be close. I am willing to bet that the coaches have been preparing for this game for longer than they would normally prepare. Packers 38, Vikings 17.
Other possible medium risk upset picks I did not pursue:
I picked em all to win!
Low Risk Upset Picks:
Miami Dolphins over New York Jets
The Dolphins are a team I just can get myself to believe in. I just can't! It all stems from that debacle against the Colts, then they get debacled again in the second half last week against the Saints. How do you force 4 turnovers and still give up 46 points? The Saints are scary good folks. In any case, the Dolphins showed they can harrass rookie quarterbacks quite easily and Mark Sanchez should have some more rookie blues this week against a better Dolphins team. Miami 31, Jets 20.
Tennesee Titans over Jacksonville Jaguars
I really hate this pick. The Titans are the biggest let down in the history of mankind and now I am forced to pick them because they have to win sometime right? Right??? The Jaguars piss me off too with their 41-0 skunk against Seattle. I wouldn't give a nickel for either teams future, Titans 3, Jaguars 2.
This is going to be a huge weekend for me - at least I hope so! I have two very dubious picks in the Titans and Eagles, but I'll roll with it and see how it plays out. I've got to catch John Bena somehow, right? I'm starting to love the disrespect the Broncos get each and every week. It makes each win all the more exhilirating and screw those who can't see what is right in front of them! Last week the media decided parity is no longer an NFL trait, and next week they will be talking about all the close games and how parity has always been an important trait of the NFL. As if we don't have a long term memory or something. I'm looking forward to a great weekend of football.
GO BRONCOS!

Not trying to be a deuche but..
Green Bay is -3 right now over Minnesota so not really an underdog.
But if you reverse that and take Minnesota as the Dog and say they’ll upset Green Bay then I’m with you.
I like Houston as well. Houston Offense is too potent right now and I dont see Fitzpatrick staying upright behind that terrible OL in Buffalo.

I go by Yahoo! user picks...Green Bay is only picked by 42% of those people.
I don’t bet on anything, but I do a league on Yahoo! for cash sometimes so I use those stats.
Underdog in this post purely means underdog through Yahoo! user picks. They are mostly morons, so it makes my “upset” picks seem a little fixed.
Click the link I provided in my “explanation” of how I determine underdogs. :)

Also
I think Jacksonville is a much better team, especially since Vince Young will be starting at QB. Expect a terrible performance from that Cat.

I like the Tennesse pick
I think Vince Young and Chris Johnson might run wild.

I'm skeptical because..
The owner forced Fisher’s hand on this Vince Young move. So will they let him be an Athelete and go out and win games or force him to be a pocket passing QB.
Tennesse is such a head scratching team. I can’t believe with the talent on that roster they’re not better and Division Games are always tough to predict.

Titans problem
is Kerry Collins – he’s been terrible. Whether Young is the solution, I don’t know. But I’ll bet serious money that Jeff Fisher is unemployed come January.

As he should be...perhaps he wants to coach the Colts.

The Giants and 49ers are on the ropes and desperately need a win.
Maybe they play to hard and against theirselves.

49ers were always pretenders to the throne...the Giants on the other hand....................

I wouldn't say 5 Super Bowl wins is a pretender, I would say
ever since Eddie D’Bartolo left the team they have been predestrian. Just my opinion though.

Interesting
that the Yankees and Phillies are in the World Series now. Think there will be any fights at the game?
