Ochocinco: Bengals better than Broncos
I couldn't believe this when I saw it on ESPN.com, but its true... I know QB's have to have short term memory, but I didn't know diva WR's did too
Chad Ochocinco is making the ESPN rounds Thursday in Bristol, Conn.
|
This morning the Cincinnati Bengals star receiver had some interesting comments on ESPN's "First Take" during his entertaining debate with Skip Bayless.
Among the comments was that the 5-2 Bengals are better than the undefeated Denver Broncos. Denver, at 6-0, is regarded as one of the NFL’s elite teams. But the Broncos needed a fluke tip in Week 1 to edge Cincinnati, 12-7.
"We’re the better team," Ochocinco said. "They’re playing very well, by far. But us offensively, I believe we have the better quarterback, a better running back ...The receiving corps, it speaks for itself because the numbers don’t lie."
Bayless vehemently disagreed and sided with Denver, sighting a better defense.
Ochocinco also picked the 3-3 Baltimore Ravens to beat the Broncos on Sunday.
"Defense is going to win the game for the Ravens," Ochocinco said. "As far as the Broncos, in order to beat the Ravens you have to establish the run, and that’s the hard part."

"The numbers don't lie"
“But us offensively, I believe we have the better quarterback, a better running back …The receiving corps, it speaks for itself because the numbers don’t lie.”
If their offense is so good why did they get shutout for 59 and change? Our D held them to 7 points. Now that’s a number that doesn’t lie.

He's right that the numbers that don't lie
The numbers are 6-0 and 5-2.

And he just caught ONE ball against us!
And that was for 8 yards… I hope we get the chance to beat them big in the playoffs!

Chad Johnson talks more crap than Shannon Sharpe.
When they start losing let’s see what he has to say.

The most disturbing part of this,
is that Skip Bayless had the Broncos’ back. Yikes.

I learned a long time ago
not to pay attention to complete morons…and anyone who changes his name from Chad to Ochocinco is a complete moron.
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.

Lets not forget
His name is 8-5(ochocinco) not 85(ochenta y cinco), tells me the whole story there

maybe they do have a better RB, QB, and WRs
even if they do, silly ocho doesn’t realize it takes a TEAM effort and more than just good skill position players in order to win football games, thats why we beat the bengals in week 1 and that is why we will beat them in the playoffs if we meet again.

It's quite possible that Ochocinco is a genius...
And we’re all playing into his game.
Ask yourself what Chad has that BMarsh doesn’t. He’s not as big, he’s not as strong, he doesn’t run nearly as tough. So why do more people know him than Marshall (or Reggie Wayne or Andre Johnson or any of the receivers who are better right now)?
The answer is a teenager’s understanding of social media and a PR whiz’s mind for using social media to sell himself. He probably doesn’t even fully believe half the stuff he says, but when he says it on Twitter and makes his own iPod apps (after changing his name and having the celebrations and the DB checklists and everything else), he gets his name in people’s mouths. When people start talking, Ocho gets himself on TV. When he gets himself on TV, people think he’s way better than he actually is (which is pretty dang good to begin with), and when that happens, the world is his.
With that in mind, Ocho may be the smartest player in the NFL.

He’s highly marketable in both Hate and Love Markets because of his antics. The Older More Mature crowd may seem him as nothing but a nuisance but the young impressionables of your youth will eat his garbage like candy. ugh. I agree MMcC

I know what he has that BMarsh doesn't.
a ustream show and a twitter that is updated about once every five minutes.
And he is on a first name basis at McDonalds.

The weird thing about Americans of all ages these days...
They eat up any and all garbage like candy.
(This is not to say that I think what Ocho’s giving out is garbage. I actually think he’s giving the people what they want.)

Def needed a fluke
There would have been no need for the fluke reception if the Ben’gals’ didn’t have a fluke scoring drive in the second half. I’ve seen more tipped balls for offensive touchdowns this year than I have seen TD drives against the Broncos in the second half – so which is really the bigger fluke?

great point

Socrates was once executed for 'trolling'.
^Needs explaining: don't call someone asking uncomfortable, slightly antagonistic questions trolls. In all odds they probably just want to learn. It's real easy to differentiate a 'Socratic' post from a trolling one (unless you're a resident of WCG).
^Needs further explaining: I have yet to post anything on WCG, don't worry, I'm not trying to rationalize anything I've done. I've just lurked over there and man, they are the model of post-peloponnesian war Athens.

My response:
So!
What should he have said? “Yeah, Skip, those Broncos pretty much outplayed us the entire game, and we were lucky that holding penalty nullified a late field goal opportunity so we had a chance at the end!”
I would want any Broncos player to say the same in a similar situation. They’re 5-2 and could’ve beaten us. But obviously I think he is full of **it. The Broncos are smarter and tougher, and if we see the Bengals in January I am sure we will show that.
