Aussie Meanderings: The Pats game, a trend and how it affects the rest of our season.
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to share a few things with the MHR faithful, and get your take on these observations.
Without further ado, please read after the jump!
- Patriot Games: OK, Hoosier Teacher, as he always does, has hit it out of the park with his post here. About the only thing that he does not allude to is the mental part of the game, of which I think that Denver has a DECIDED advantage. McDaniel's has been a genius, along with his coaches, of building an "us vs. the world" mentality in this Broncos team. He has brought in leaders like Dawkins and Davis that have run with this mentality; you only need to see Dawkins "we need take our respect" speeches to realize that this team feels slighted by everyone and everything associated with the NFL. This circle the wagons siege mentality that we are seeing in our Broncos has seen the team playing for each other AND THE COACHES. As we saw Champ relay to McD when he dedicated the stop against Dallas to coach, you have to wonder how much our team will want to win this one for Jedi McD. I KNOW our guys will be talking amongst themselves and dedicating this one to McD. Similarly, no-one from New England has any reason to play with as MUCH as passion as our guys do for McDaniels. Of course, they will play to win and play for BB, but our much maligned Denver team will be treating this like a play off game. McDaniels may not be preaching it....but our veterans will have circled our team and will have them focused on getting this one for our Young Head Coach....leave no doubt Denver.
- Denver is 4-0. Why?: HT is a man after my heart. He preaches the battle in the trenches. My personal opinion is that ANY team that wins the battle of the lines will win the game. This, I am sure of.....over 60% of time, this works every time! But, seriously, I am a firm believer in this. Now, our team has some great things going for us. There is NO better O line in the game, and I will pick them vs every D line of the teams we are left to play, with them being very evenly matched vs the Giants D line. Then, i look at the unbelievable performance of our front 7. These guys are animals. Now, they have TOTALLY dominated every O Line they have faced this year. Remember, the Dallas O line was supposed to see our guys SEVERELY over matched, but we pushed these guys back and made Tony Romo's day a night mare! When I look at this weekend's match up, I see an obvious advantage to Denver on both sides of the ball in the trenches. This is not the kool aid talking, but does anyone here think our O line cant handle the Patriots D line. Again, the O line for the Pats is NOT good....and our D Line has been attacking and powerful. The Dallas O line is a superior line from the Pats.....I foresee Brady running for his life. This leads me to my next thought......
- Is there any team remaining on our schedule that we wont win the battle of the trenches with? We will be in every game this year....EVERY GAME. The only team which I think is going to be a MAJOR test for our team will be the Giants. They are excellent on both sides of the lines and are a VERY well balanced team. I am not buying into the MSM hype on the Ravens.....the Steelers are beatable.....we should own the Chargers......Eagles are good but we are better in the trenches.....I dont fear the Redskins......SO, I ask you....who really SCARES you on the rest of the schedule.....
- Brian Dawkins - Too old.
- Champ Bailey - Lost a step.
- DJ Williams - Has not improved since his rookie year.
- Andra Davis - Too slow, nothing left in the tank.
- Elvis Dumervil - Too small.
- Ronnie Fields - Marginal back up.
- Andre Goodman - Too old.
- Renaldo Hill - Old and average
- Kyle Orton - Noodle armed game manager.
- Corell Buckhalter - injury prone and too old.
- Jabar Gaffney - System player.
- Alphonso Smith - too short
- Knowshon Moreno - Too slow.
- Robert Ayers - One year wonder.
- Mario Hagans - A special teams player only.
- Wesley Woodyard - Too small.
- Peyton Hillis - A tweener
- Brandon Marshall - Selfish punk.
- Eddie Royal - Only a return guy.
- Brandon Stokley - Washed up bit part WR.
- Mike Nolan - Washed up HC.
- Josh McDaniels - Arrogant, cocky young guy in over his head. BB made him look good.
This is a pissed off team going out of their way to prove everyone wrong!
This weekend, and the rest of the season will be no different.
Hit me back with your thoughts!
Peace!

Rec'd for sure
We definitely have a lot of players with chips on their shoulders. What I get irritated by is when people say that Mike Nolan will have a HC job again next year.
"Really, I'm a high-motor guy. Tough, hard-nosed, a hard runner, can make you miss at times. And just competitive. I love to play the game and I bring that energy to my team. So, we'll see how that goes." - Knowshon Moreno
Knowshon Moreno=ROY
Good points Boydy
The mental aspect is truly too often overlooked but it goes back to where do these guys get that metal toughness?
1. Champ alluded to it in his interview with the Boston press… he said that there is unbelievable leadership this year and even asked “why did these teams part with these players”? ie… Bdawk, Andre Davis etc…
2. The players have bought into the plan and it’s working!!!!!
3. Did you hear HCMcD when they did the “miked up” film on NFL network? OMG does that guy have emotion!!!! He is really Denver Bronco Fan #1!!!!! His energy is incredible..
I am on board too, no longer cautiously optimistic!!!! I have been Marshilized TM if you will!!! You gotta feel good, Boydy, being on board from day 1

This game is a very big game....Very Big.
and guess what?
Because the AFC Jags are visiting Seattle they are airing that game instead….I am really bummed.
Last week I get off a jet at 3:30pm get home by 3:45 and watch Denver score ten points to win. I hope my absense from viewing, this week, isn’t an omen.
Maybe I should look at the bright side, I won’t be bothered by the striped socks.

Wax on, wax off grasshopper. Awesome Aussie Meanderings Boydy, and can’t wait to watch this defense in action. I’m liking watching them more than I am the offense, weird huh?
Nice boydy and Rec'd
I really like how you summarized the media’s knock on the players in your list. That is pretty much how they’ve been labeled and has done nothing short of light a fire under them.
The MSM did a great job of creating their own karma. The Broncos know it. Proving people wrong is beautiful.
rec'd for sure
I have been saying the EXACT same thing to everyone I know that would listen to me. We are going to be in every game!!! I think tomorrow’s game will not even be close. Especially, since our guys (with a little reminder from the veterans) will see this as a measuring stick that they actually BELONG in the playoff picture by beating a playoff savvy team. After this game – out boys will know where they stand, and I believe they’ll be on the positive side. I think after this game, their confidence will be SKY-HIGH, which they’ll ride throughout the rest of the year. I just don’t any of the remaining teams handling our line on both sides. Our O Line really is the best and our D line are becoming monsters of the rockies! Hey, that doesn’t sound bad for a nickname for our D line. What do you guys think of that name?

There is, however, one place where I’d like to make a minor quibble with you:
This circle the wagons siege mentality that we are seeing in our Broncos
(and I realize you go on to explain how it represents that the players are playing for each other and the coach)
I don’t see us with a siege mentality — to me, a siege mentality means you’ve forted up against overwhelming odds and are wating and hoping that you can simply survive. I see the Broncos as taking the fight to the enemy.
The image I get is the one from the movie The Two Towers when the humans are in a fort facing an overwhelming, unbeatable army of orcs, and the lead character Aragorn convinces the king to ride out and take the battle to the enemy. And when the orcs least expect it, the battle is turned by a surprise from an unexpected direction.
This is exactly what we’re doing to our opponents every week. Every week, someone else steps up and helps us win the battle: Stokley in Cincinnati, Dumervil vs Cleveland, Buckhalter in Oakland, Marshall vs Dallas. We’re riding out to meet the enemy and every time the full attack comes from an unexpected direction.

hi Bshrout...thanks!
Siege mentality I see as take no prisoners….much like Blitzkrieg…..where you go at a 100% with no apologies.

Our team has hunkered down…taken all the barbs….but now they have been released and are going to make other teams pay!

I especially agree this game to the veterans
IS REALLY IMPORTANT.
This is about Dallas playing bad and we haven’t played anyone yet. This game is about whipping the 3 time Super Bowl champs and winning won for their coach that they seem to love (sorry Jamie Dufus). This is a high stakes game and the respect that goes with it. This is a game Brady get hit hard and gets shook up. This is a game the lack of running game with Taylor out comes back to haunt New England. This is a game Royal and Moreno shine! Tomorrow is our game!
I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. Coach Norman Dale "Hoosiers"
Boydy! Great job!
