Kind of a sad game plan today...

After giving up 100+ yards rushing the last two weeks, we didn’t even attempt to establish the run. Lots of underneath plays— looked like the preseason all over again. Great effort by the D, not so great effort by the OL and the coaches.

Put this one on McD and the staff.

The defense was on the field way too much because of an inept offensive game plan. Yes, they were bringing pressure and we were attempting to mitigate it with screen passes, but there are other ways to stop that— draws, counters, a general tendency to run the ball more than throw it. Our downfield routes were awkward… lots of 20 yard hooks.

Baltimore is at home, coming off a bye, and needs a win. Recipe for disaster.

out-coached today and the players got out-played. This is the type of game you can’t expect Orton to get you back into and then win. So, now we see our limitation exploited by a solid Ravens team that had been down on its luck. Let’s see how McD responds with next week’s game plan and preparation.

Not a shocker

Losing this one isn’t the end of the world or a big surprise, given the odds, playing at Baltimore, a good team better than record, desperate for win, morning game, Broncos due to lose. They’re a good team and broncos could probably use a loss to slap them back awake. Back at it next week.

I will seriously laugh at any fair-weather fans who are using this as a reason to abandon faith and ship at this point. 6 and 1, what a tragedy. Anyone who rips them for this loss needs to go hang out with John Clayton and leave the rest of us alone. :-)

And hind sight is 20/20. We lost to a good team on the road. Whether we lose by 1 or 23, a loss is a loss. And our game plan changes week to week, so what may have shown as a weakness, may not even factor in next week.

Think about this for a second...

Baltimore had lost three straight. They were playing at home with their fans going crazy. If they lost this game, they would be out of the play-off race. They have tons of veterans, especially on their defense.

What I’m saying is, is that Baltimore wanted it way more than we did. There is no denying that.

by Broncoholic_07 on Nov 1, 2009 2:08 PM MST up reply actions

It wasn't him.

It was the offensive line and the play calling. We couldn’t get enough time to go deep, and it wasn’t in the cards from the beginning. We’re not a vertical team, get over it.

Give it a rest, would you?

If the play is designed to go down field, Orton can get it there.

And I’m sorry, but I get tired of people rationalizing this guy’s negativity week after week. We’re in for a long week of it elsewhere, so it would be great if we didn’t have to hear a lot of ill-informed garbage here. Orton can throw the ball. But for some reason, our offensive line gave him little time today — and the offensive game plan was foiled by a good Raven’s defense, who pressured and then tackled well all day.

At 13-7, I thought the game was going to swing our way. Not too fond of the offensive play calling today, but it happens. Shower it off and come back hard next week.

Thing is, Big Ben is hard to bring down, and we just showed that if we can’t get the QB to the ground when we pressure, we’re vulnerable.
