That's why they brought Cutler in...
to wreck the Bears by beating down and humiliating his own. Cutler completely undermined their efforts. But at least two of the five picks weren't Cutler's fault no? One was the referree right, and the other was what? Oh, the defender got to the ball first and what, the receiver bumped into him after he picked it off! Should've been interference! Are Matt Millen and Mike Papa criminally insane or what?
Cutler stank up the field and they are still saying "none of it matters now if they score." Hey fells, it matters, Cutler cost his team that game. At least you could say that, and maybe mix in that he was awful and stunk. Didn't you see Cutler melt down on the field and on the sideline? Wasn't that red zone pick at the end predictable? I saw it coming all the way...I thought Millen and Papa were going to undress Cutler and have a menage a trois! It was sickening.
The ridiculousness, the unfairness, of the NFL media make me pull for the Broncos and Orton even more. More love from me!
Mark my words, Broncos will draft in the top seven thanks to Jay!

Nothing wrong with spreading the ball around
Too bad for the Bears that he must be color blind!

Citing the definition of a word isn’t quite wisdom.
Besides, this might have more relevance if it was Kurt Warner throwing the INTs. Cutler deliberately got himself traded out of Denver, so it’s not like fans here have no reason to be bitter towards him.

There’s not a question in my mind, when you look at the yards, the offensive production—Cutler cost them that game. He was the sole source of turnovers. With those kind of yards, if they’d have scored two field goals off of those yards, they would have won. Yards-wise, they dominated the game. But they lost. Sounds like last year’s Broncos. Cutler tried to do to much. If he was more mature, they would have won. If you look at the yards, they were dominant offensively. If they’d have been patient and waited for the right situation to score, they could have won. But Cutler doesn’t trust his team, doesn’t trust his D. I could kind of understand after the last 2 games, but it’s a perennial problem for him.
As a caveat, I have to say that I didn’t see the game. I couldn’t because it wasn’t on basic cable. But when you have 5 INTs… stats like that don’t lie.

I only got there at the end, and that was hard enough. The fortitude of those posting on the thread was so uplifting, it gives me courage to face the next bears game I can get.

there is a painful shot
of the look on Cutler’s face right after he throws the fifth int. He knows he shouldn’t have thrown it. It was the first time I’ve seen him apparently care about something, so I actually felt bad for him right there.

For any that want to post at WCG about Cutler/ Orton…
If it is deemed as trolling/ insulting, it will be deleted and the BanHammer will be dropped.
Sorry to be a downer, but after a loss is probably the worst timing.
We liked Orton, and we prefer Cutler.
Our OL sucks bad, and we don’t need excessive FPs about it.

We have 3 games against KC and Oakland
We should beat Washington which means we only need one win out of:
SD, NY, @Indy, @Philly
to get to 11-5. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

Are they that much worse than last year?
The 2008 Bears weren’t a great offensive team, but they only gave up 29 sacks and did win 9 games.

Chicago's only remaining winnable games are St. Louis and Detroit

Agreed, but why? I'm interested in Dane Noble's view as a Bears fan
Did their OL tank over the year, or is this the Cutler Effect?
BTW – Go Lions! Go Rams!
But after this year, the Bears are welcome to be a good team again….

Oline
The Bears’ Oline is not performing well. That is the core of the problem as I see it. You have adequate receivers but your RB’s are not getting lanes. The Broncos have the same issue in our running game Oline. Unfortunately Cutler exacerbates the problem(s) because of his impatience and overconfidence when he throws into double and triple coverage. INTs make it even harder to win games. Ultimately I feel for ya, but not solely because of Cutler. Your Oline needs help yet you traded away draft picks (not just to Denver) and will have difficulty rebuilding. Is Lovie gonna last in the windy city?
by Endzone on Nov 13, 2009 10:20 AM MST up reply actions 0 recs
As endzone just stated...
our OL isn’t performing very well at all. In the off season, we acquired three new offensive lineman and three new starters.
The signing of Frank “Gate 68” Omiyale left me scratching my head from day one. Omiyale has been a career backup tackle in Carolina. Yet for some reason, Jerry Angelo decided to reward his “play” with a hefty four-year $14 million contract. They originally signed Omiyale to play RT, and have Chris Williams, who missed his rookie year due to injury, line up at LT.
We then signed Orlando Pace to protect Cutler’s backside. There’s a reason that St. Louis released him and that Baltimore was only interested in him if he would play on the right. Pace still has some left in the tank, but the problem is for every pancake block he delivers, two failed attempts follow. Signing Pace moved Williams, our first round pick from two years ago, to the right side… completely ousting Omiyale.
So what to do with Omiyale? Swing tackle, no. We signed Kevin Schaffer from the Browns to occupy that role for us. Bench, not with that contract.
This is where the real break down happened. They throw a career backup tackle in at left guard because there’s absolutely no way the Bears will pay $6 million for the guy to warm the bench this year. And since the two positions require completely different skill sets, DT’s are eating him alive.
And on top of all that, Kruetz, one of my favorite Bears players in a long time, is on the decline. And fast.
On paper, our offensive line looked like it would be much improved over last year. And I was all for every move the Bears made but the Omiyale signing. He may be a good tackle in this league, one day. But it’s not happening right now. He got benched two weeks ago, and the line has looked somewhat better, but not by much.
I know this is all about the OL, but they are definitely NOT the only problem we have with our football team right now. Coaching, quarterback decisions, turnovers, penalties, showing up for games, injuries, luck and much much more…
I’m not Dane, but I hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks
Sorry for your tough season. I know the response on the Bears has been pretty tough here, but that’s just the sort of wierdness that happens when your favorite team owns another team’s #1 pick.
Sound like it’s new GM time in Chicago – Smith will probably be on the block, too, even if he isn’t the #1 guy for personnel decisions. Don’t be too eager for the Bears to sign Shanahan – rebuilding through the draft has not been his strong suit.

Agree about bad TV announcers, but Cutler is just Cutler - the good and bad
The announcers comments about the interception (“interference”) showed they either have no understanding of the rules of football (doubtful) or they are blinded with bias towards Cutler. So I agree they are very unobjective cheerleaders for Cutler. The “interference” was a good interception. The defender has an equal right to the ball and the defender easily got in better position and caught the ball. At least the third announcer commented that he thought it was a good interception, but he seemed afraid to criticize the first two announcers.
Cutler showed flashes of great talent and made several great throws. He also made several poor decisions and focused too much on specific receivers, instead of going through reads and finding the open receiver. So what’s new, that is what he did here. He is the same QB we had, with similar results.

Didn't see the game.
When I found out this morning, my immediate reaction is to just feel bad for the Bears’ fans. I mean, they don’t deserve this. Just like we were, they are all smitten with his athletic ability and then he just rips your beating heart out of your chest and shows it to you. When you’re emotionally removed from a situation, you see how much you were caught up.
Can’t wait for the first round pick and then I’m done with that whole situation.
Sorry to the Bears’ fans, we feel your pain.
Hang on folks, road's a little bumpy in these spots.

Agreed.
I feel bad for the bears fans, but after Jay wanted to leave denver and was super excited to be leaving, it’s hard to not smile when you watch him flounder, a little bit. It’s a tough situation. I feel bad and I don’t at the same time.
I definitely can’t wait to see what our pick will be, too.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Yes
I’ve sort of kept out of this one, but Dane is right, even though it’s not the whole issue. The Bears were counting on the center lasting, and he’s breaking down (sound familiar?). Omiyale came in from Carolina and didn’t do well there. The Bears believed that they could change that and it didn’t work. They also believed that Pace had a couple of good years left (probably not) and that Chris Williams would step up. He’s struggled
That is a big problem, and here’s the thing. Do you recall last season the argument that Cutler threw picks because the D was lousy and the Broncos didn’t have a great running game? In one sense, that’s true. Jay doesn’t hold up well under emotional pressure. That’s why his picks come in bunches – once he’s made a mistake, he will often choke. The poor line performance adds stress to the situation and Cutler responds in a pretty predictable way.
Since Cutler was brought in as something of a Big New Thing, that pressure is another factor. Life in the NFL is stressful, however, and Jay will have to either adapt or have a tough time. I wish him, and the Bears, well – after this season. This year, that’s my draft pick you’re talking about, pardner… Dane has been a class act, and I welcome his presence.

Remember how Dane et al. gloated after a cheesy preseason win?
Now they have to deal with a 6-10 perhaps 7-9 finish with the Broncos drafting anywhere from 7 to 10! Don’t you love it Broncos fans!
And if I recall correctly, a couple weren’t anywhere near a receiver! Choke!Noone was near Cutler on the last pick
