If Jay Cutler was still a bronco...

I sure most of you all watched the Bears, 49ers game last night. I sure you are all just as pleased as I was to see Jay Cutler throw 5 INTs in that game.  I mean I was so excited for every pick. At the end of the game though I started wondering if Jay Cutler stayed in Denver would his stats still resemble what they do now? It made me wonder if Josh Mcdaniels could even fix Jay Cutler. Don't get me wrong Cutler has an arm. Cutler can make all the throws. Cutler CANNOT win important games.

Stats wise, Jay has some good numbers. He has been pretty consistant with his stats and I do mean all of his stats. They really have not changed at all except that he throws more and more INTs every year.

So really my question is this. If Jay stayed in Denver do you think he would have became better, as in smarter with the ball? Or Josh McDaniels was just spot on when he got to denver and found out Jay Cutler is just uncoachable. As of right now it seems like he is uncoachable.  He shrugged off Lovie Smith and said its not my fault during the game. He is probably calling the plays cause I would run it 2 maybe 3 times out of 4 plays with a guy like Matt Forte.

Not that this matters I mean it is what it is. But I really don't think we would be 6-2 with Jay Cutler under center.

PS Thanks for a good draft pick this year Jay.

I think Josh would have

a gun to his head right now after watching QB throw interception after interception or make statements after games like night that the WHOLE offense needs to improve.

I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. Coach Norman Dale "Hoosiers"

Here is EXACTELY what would have happened:

Cutler would have the reins of the offense. No matter how many picks he would throw McDaniels would keep him as the starter. Except the moment that he shrugs off his coaches and takes no responsibility or accountability for his actions; that’s the moment he is benched immediately and a journeyman like Chris Simms would be taking snaps. I think Cutler has it made right how. Yeah its embarrassing to be throwing multiple picks every game, but it would be more embarrassing to get benched and have Simms or even Brandstater starting in front of you. THAT’s what Josh would have done.

He’s lucky there isn’t a hope of a dream on the bench behind him at the QB position. I bet Lovie would bench him to give him a wake-up call if there was someone that could at least partially manage the season. Hopefully their season will go to crap and Lovie will bench him and start some Joe-Shmoe for the last three or four games and tell him that if he doesn’t want to listen and be a part of the team, then he can sit on the bench. Obviously nobody is going to call for him. Especially with the QB Rookie magic of these last few years draft. Every QB desperate team would rather take a chance with a 1st round rookie than make any kind of deal for Jay.

This is like the even-worse-than-Vick QB situation. Talented guy, has the potential, has the time, going to go a long ways in the league… and just straight F’s it for himself. Vick at least has got a second shot. Jay won’t get a second shot with that attitude. You can’t bring a guy like that on board in a losing/sub-par team that wants to inject a winning attitude and talent to the team. We might as well start waving bye-bye to him right now. Jay’s crapping his career away one “receiver-slipped” pick at a time.

Have a nice life Golden Goose!!

P.S. Sorry… there was a lot locked up in there…

And maybe....

That Joe-Shmoe turns out to be some decent guy and becomes CHI’s starter for a year or two and Jay drifts off into the background.

Bears-Niners, the aftermath: Three days off until the next non-victory Monday
November 13, 2009 7:32 AM | 4 Comments
Staff report

Morning, Bears fans. Did you have the same dream we did last night? Total nightmare. Five interceptions, six points, seven games to go.

That wasn’t a dream?

There is some good news to be had in the next three days: The Bears are off. Sure, they were plenty off Thursday night in San Francisco. But the next three days of no media and fan reminders of What Might Have Been-2009 Edition means the Bears can also escape a Sunday without losing — or playing the Browns.

If Rick Morrissey and David Haugh are right, the lights went out on the Bears — and that means the Franchise, Sid Cutler, just got a little scarier.

Even scarier than those five picks. Said Cutler: “We saw everything coming. They didn’t have any surprises for us.” So what’s worse? That he saw it coming and didn’t do anything about it — or couldn’t do anything about it?

Cutler now has 17 interceptions, the leader by a mile-high. Or, in movie terms, NC-17: No chance-17, not safe for children.

Is it too late to give Kyle Orton the key to Cutler’s city? You’re right, they already did that.

The worst part of all of this losing through 5/16ths of the season as the Bears have gone 1-4: Steve Rosenbloom gave up “Project Runway” to watch that stuff. You go girl.

One other kernel of news: When the Bears travel to Minnesota at the end of the month, kickoff will come three hours later, at 3:15, so Fox can show a bigger audience what Brett Favre does to that defense.

So happy Friday, Bears fans. The NFL ain’t coming back to these parts for a long, long time.

You can watch Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning on Sunday. Now are you ready for some football? That’s it. Buck up, champ. Let’s go get ’em.

I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. Coach Norman Dale "Hoosiers"

WIth fans like these, who needs the opposition?

Wow. “Happy Friday, Bears Fans. The NFL ain’t coming back here for a long, long time.” This quote is just sensationalist, and should never be uttered by a supporter of a team. THere is no hope in that statement. WHo wants to watch games without a hope of winning?

FOrtunately, they ALWAYS have a hope of winning with Jay Cutler. There is a flipside, in that he can give games away, but he can place some passes where they need to go at times.

I feel for bears fans. I think this is poetic justice for JC, though.

But they can't write something moderate

it won’t sell papers. Media coverage in nearly every market is full-fledged manic-depressive; the team is going to be Super Bowl/World Series/NBA champions or they’re a bunch of useless bums.

Just not a profitable speculation

Cutler is gone and he is going to stay gone. Just can’t find any energy for might-have-beens on this one. I’d like a high pick, but can’t find enough mean energy to actually root against the Bears (unlike the Raiders).

Every interception last night made me grin ear to ear. But in all honesty, I feel bad for Bears fans.

But Cutler is an arse and his failures justify what we have been saying,…..and helps our team.

Guys, I think we are too kind to the Bears fans

No need to feel bad for them. They do enough of that themselves. And our “Dude” went and posted a “Respect” FanPost on the WCG, and got lambasted as a troll. IMO, those guys aren’t in our class. And the JUGS Interception Machine is in his element. Those people deserve each other. The only reason I have any real fleeting interest in the Bears season record is the same reason as Mr. Smith. That “team” holds our 1st rd draft pick, and I want to see where we will pick in 2010.

Well, there are a few over there.

There are going to be terrible people in any blog, but there are definitely guys over there that I feel bad for. They had some pretty heated discussions in preseason, but there were also some very reasoned individuals, as well.

Don’t let a few bad bananas ruin the bunch.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I just rationalize that rooting for Cutler to FAIL is not really rooting against the Bears. Kinda, sorta, half way….

jay would have ignored mcd imo

would have tuned him out. they have 2 opposite playing philosophies so i understand why cutler was traded. the team wouldnt have truly been mcd’s if cutler was there. living in chicago, i love last night! went with some of my bears friends to buffal wild wings to watch the game. i was shouting GO BRONCOS after every pick haha. it was great. chicago is a mess right now: bad coaching, poor leadership, and no draft picks…..

I wasn't there

at the meeting between McD and Cutler, but I think Jay was horrified at the prospect of having to accept coaching and instruction. Based on my life experience I’d say that Cutler is hopelessly lost in his own self reflection and cannot be coached. The project of team rebuilding that McDaniels had in mind would never have worked with the Jaybaby still on the team. Those that think that the Broncos would be so much better if he were our QB are assuming he would be like Orton, a guy doing everything he can to be what coach wants him to be. The opposite would be true. Cutler’s attitude would have destroyed the whole project.

As I was typing, your post came up broncoboy so I’ll post this as an agreement with you, but I think it would have been way worse than a simple disagreement between coach and player.

Just another guy...on the lost highway.

mechanics

I think your 100% spot on. Did you guys see his footwork on some of those throws? His mechanics are horrible, he strictly relies on that rocket arm. I dont think any of us would dispute that he has a cannon. Problem is no coach has ever had the balls to tell him any different, until he met McD.

I'd rather have Jay than Neckbeard.

I don’t feel like our team has any chance when we’re down multiple scores late in the game this year. Jay at least gives you a glimmer of hope.

That said, I’m glad Chicago is terrible because we have their pick.

by SethGrandpa on Nov 13, 2009 8:58 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

There is no real glimmer if those throws are in triple coverage

which I have seen him do several times and he threw at least 3 picks. 9 INTs in the redzone the last two years. That is pathetic.

The last drive of the Niner game was the entire career of JAY CUTLER

Ran up a bunch of stats, moved the team in empty space, needed 4 points, threw a pick that was intercepted in the end zone (2nd one that game). His rocket arm raised everyone’s hope but his egotistical belief in his arm deflated an entire city, again.

Jay give you a glimer of hope when you’re down by multiple scores ? Really ? Chicago defense play well in the Green Bay, Atlanta and SF game and the score was close, did Jay mount a comeback in those games ? How about the Cinn and Arz game when the Bears was down by more than 2 td, did Jay mount a comeback or did he choke ?

In the Arz game, Jay got only 1 td in the first drive than did nothing for 3 quarter until Arizona pull their starters in the 4th quarter and ONLY then did Jay start to move his team and score and when Arz put their starter back in, Jay threw an int and Warner march his team down the field and killed the Bears hope. Glimer of hope ? more like nightmares !

Cassel is Better

Matt Cassel, not being coached by McDaniels and on a terrible Chiefs team, has a higher passer rating than Cutler (77.2 to 76.0).

Even Jeff George won a playoff game and didn’t throw as many picks. This will go down as another Herschel Walker to the Vikings trade, with the Broncos coming out on top.

At 17 INTs in 9 games, Jay's on track for 30; >5% of his throws are picked

In the last 20 years, only a few people have thrown more than 25 in a season:

P. Manning’s rookie year: 28 in 1998
Favre’s 2004 meltdown: 29
Bledsoe in 1994: 27
Testaverde’s first full year: 35 in 1988 (7.5%)

Favre’s 2004 is notable – that took a team that won 10+ games the previous four years to 4-12, even as their defense improved! Admittedly they lost Javon Walker and Ahman Green for most of the year, but still, 29 picks?

"Remember, it's only a game."

how about Paton Manning’s INTs in his first four years to Cutlers… He had twice as many!

BTW He’s pretty good, huh?

I'll Take Manning's First 3 Years

In Manning’s first 48 games (3 full seasons)

58 INTs, but 85 TDs! W-26 L-22 (with a 3-13 rookie season)

In Cutler’s first 46 games

54 INTs, but only 68 TDs W-21 L-25
