Simms Chokes in the second half
Broncos lose third straight after Orton is injured.
Chris Simms put up a total of 13 yards passing in the second half, and an interception. The Broncos offense
stalled out without Orton in.
On the bright side of things Marshall had two great TD scores in the first half on Orton passes. Moreover,
Moreno put up 97 yards on the ground.
The Broncos also need to get better on their run defense, because Betts rushed for 114 yards.
Hopefully, Orton will be healthy for the next game against San Diego.

It just goes to show you.
Simms was not ready to take over the game in case of an injury. To make a bone headed pass on 1st and 10 with the game managable is stupid.

agree
Simms sucks. That should end any talk about replacing Orton with him.

I'd rather have had "Phil" Simms running our offense... Not "mini me!!!!!
Chris is a career “Backup” QB….THAT’s IT! Brandstater has better QB skills and IQ than Simms. We all know that Simms was thrown in there at last sec, BUT…he’s been studying this playbook longer than Orton. However, it’s Ortons team! Are we really surprised….?NO…we’re not! So Woody, if you really want to make a case for a QB change, then go for real change, not just Bling-Bling! Your all style and NO justice.

Using the word 'sucks' Sucks
Seriously, guys. Can we find a dictionary and look for that word under ‘boring’?
I thought that Simms was vapid. I thought that he seemed haplessly incompetent and maladroit. His approach was bungling and I’m piqued at the outrage. I was vexed and repulsed in watching him
And, in reading 184,074 repetitions of the word sucks ever since that.

HAHAHAHA. Amazing response.
“vapid” “Haplessly incompetent” “maladroit” “bungling” “piqued” and “vexed”
You should be earning Albert Haynesworth money with million dollar words, like those.
You get a rec’d. This comment, alone, should receive a rec’d from every person on MHR, IMO.

I find it amusing
that the same people who insist that Orton will get better every game if he has more time are the ones who insist that Simms “sucks” because he failed in his first playing time in three years, with no reps in practice, ad coming in completely cold of the bench.
He wasn’t great today, but are you guys insisting that if Simms had the same time in the system that Orton has he would continue to look that bad?
This was a team loss. The Defense gave up huge chunks of yardage and 13 points in the second half…and our speical teams is maybe the worst in football.

Simms has been in the system longer than Orton has ? Its people like you I find amusing
You are basing Simms getting better based what you saw 3+years ago while everyone knew what we saw in the preseason was not how Orton played in the regular as soon as just last season .
Do I hate Simms ? No
Do I have faith he can do the job ? NO
because we are so deep into this that defenses have scoped out our base offense already and Im not sure Simms can learn to recognize everything he will need to be able to in one week heck even 3 weeks .
The backups job is to be ready to manage the game when called upon and was given a lead and a running game and couldnt do that . I dont blame Simms for the loss but I do blame him for not being prepared to do his job which helped contribute to the loss.

Ummm...he is supposed to be the #2 quarterback
In the course of a season, the majority of team have to put in the #2 quarterback, usually with no advance notice. If you’re not ready to do that and make something positive out of it, you’re not ready to be a #2 quarterback in the NFL.

Simms did not lose the game
Look, Simms was in a terrible situation, a backup who did not play a snap in a real game in what, almost 3 years. He was rusty and played terribly. But how about that – the best we could come up after first half was 3-point lead. Against terrible Skins. That was a game a contender was expected to run away with. We should’ve lead by 2 touchdowns and then Simms would’ve not been able to lose the game. We did not play all that well in the first half and then the injury proved catastrophic.

The ST play was the turning point.....
My 5 year old boy said “Are you sure they are kicking it dad?”…why is it that our BRAINIAC COACHES and PLAYERS could not tell.
We stop that, we get ball back and go into jalf time with at least a 10 point lead.
That is the most idiotic thing I have ever seen.
Can someone tell me; Are we setting our guys up for success yet?

The most patheSmimmtic stat
Simms’ qb rating: 7.5.
I have never in my life seen a qb with that low of a rating when he was in for at least a half. Wow, I hope KO’s ankle is ok.

I bet Simms didnt get many reps in practice this past week
because orton and Bmarsh and Royal were working on the long pass plays. It just amazes me that they left Simms in and stopped running the ball>

Calm Down...Calm Down...
Funny, me being the voice of reason here…
Chris Simms didn’t look good. Yeah, we get that. We also knew that it would happen.
Coach McD has not had the time to develop backups because he had to be busy teaching the starters how to play in his system. We knew that the backups weren’t getting any snaps before the season even started, and we knew that was a calculated risk. Worked out pretty well getting us to 6-0. Now we are 1/2 way through the season and we will start seeing injuries pile up.
We are now paying the price for the great start, I am counting on McD to do a job here and get whoever the starting QB is going to be set up to win.
Chris Simms hasn’t seen a quality rep in this system since March when KO got the starting nod. Give McD and the O a week to figure this out before going crazy on us!
