McD Already Focused on the Chargers. GOOD
I was just watching the press conference and I heard Josh McDaniels open up by saying, " First I want to give credit to the Chargers, coach Zorn". I don't really think this means that the Broncos were overlooking Washington, I mean the offense was running great until the Orton injury. I hope this only means one thing: McDaniels already has his mind on how to just totally destroy the Chargers. I hope Orton plays next week. The guy is a warrior and I really believe he will play. Gotta believe McD will have something special for the Chargers. We NEED this win. Let's destroy the Chargers!
GO BRONCOS!

Question!
Is there not anyone else who thinks this team has hit a wall? Believe me I hate saying it but do any of us actually believe this is a playoff caliber team? I love the Broncos but there is just to much that needs to be fixed for this year. I for one would like to see Tom B. start some games so we can see what we have. I personally would like to see what the rookie can do. He impressed me a lot in pre-seaeson and I think he should get a shot ( and some experience). But that’s just my opinion!

Seriously?
I mean, no offense, but everything seemed to be going great until Orton got hurt…. and then DJ…. you can’t just say the team hit a wall when in my mind, there is no doubt that we win if Orton was in there running the O

Going great?
Two bad losses to the Ravens and Pittsburgh and then a 1 win team playing us close(when Orton was in). Thats not great in my book. I keep trying to drink the koolaid man but I have had a funny feeling about this team from the start. It is like they were teasing me the first 6 games of the season. I don’t know maybe my emotions are getting to me at the moment.

I think etienne meant that things were going great in this game, not the Ravens or Pitt game.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

i know what you mean about brandy

simms goes down and, well you get your wish.

We can win with Orton
Why go a different route now?

The team is 6-3, not 3-6
Why would we put in a rookie QB at this time? Just b/c he played well in 1 preseason game, doesn’t mean he’s anywhere near ready to play in the regular season

Reminscient of 2006...
7-4
Bring in the rookie!
Unbelievable.

If Orton is hurt
Whats the difference between starting Tom or Chris? And I didn’t say he was ready, I said I would like to see how far along he is. While I admire Chris Simms guts, he will never be more than a backup. What I wanna know is what do we have in Tom B. A competent Q.B. who could possibly take this team over or another backup.
by broncosorbust on Nov 15, 2009 7:58 PM MST reply actions 0 recs
There's really no way of knowing what Tom B brings.
I think the main concern with bringing him in is confidence. If he goes out there in SD and gets killed with a few picks and some sacks, how is he going to react? Remember, he is still a rookie. I think McD likes him to be the QB of the future, but bringing him in in this situation may be a bit sooner than McD would like.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I would play Brandstater over Simms....
Simms is inconsistent, and I think our team will step up and help the rook. I just hope that Orton is ready to go!
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
All I want is 53 Rod Smiths. Is that asking too much????

Just to start, I am not attacking you.
However, something you said just struck me the wrong way. Don’t you think McDaniels knows exactly what Brandstater brings to the table? How about Simms?
McDaniels has a plan for this team this year and for the next few years. The things you are saying are only looking at the long-term. We as fans sometimes think the only way to develop in the NFL is to play in games, but there are other ways for players to develop. Sure, there is a difference between all of that and games, but McDaniels is going to do what is best for the team and their chances of winning.
What I wouldn’t count out is, if Orton can’t play this week, and Simms struggles during the first half like he did yesterday, we could see Brandstater. The bottom line is, McDaniels wants to win and he will play the players that give him the best shot at winning.

Ya I will agree
that the Charger game may not be the ideal situation for his first start, but with football who knows. You have to admit though it would be interesting to see.

First,
I think that we have a 6-3 team that is tied for 1st in the division and the fact that we’re even talking about playing any quarterback than the one who brought us this far is ludicrous. The offense (and orton especially) looked very good in the first half today. They had two drives for touchdowns, and if Orton hadn’t been injured, they may very well have finished a third that way.
however, in the situation that Orton is injured badly enough that he can not play for some time, it might make more sense to start Brandstater over Simms. it is hard to say who will play better with a full week of preparation and first team reps, but Simms’ performance today was not encouraging.
by bailey disciple on Nov 15, 2009 8:45 PM MST reply actions 0 recs
Agreed with your 1st paragraph...not so much with the 2nd
There isn’t a reason in the world for the Broncos to start Brandy over Simms this upcoming week. Simms will have the entire week to work with the first team. You have to admit that, pre-Orton injury, our offense was clicking. The running game was producing, WR’s were catching, O-line was blocking, all was well. I feel that, with an entire week of preparation, our boys can rally behind CS, and pull out the W vs. the Chargers.
I may be the only one on this, but I am happy that we have lost 3 in a row. We didn’t need the burden of “will they go undefeated?” for the season. And we don’t want to start losing games to end the season. I would much rather have us lose now, get the bad taste now, get angry, and storm into the postseason. I do understand if folks think I’m crazy, but this is my Fandom, and it is STRONG!

+1
If you haven’t already done so or at all interested pick up the book “A Teacher’s Coach” by Tom Osborne. He goes, at length, about what you just said. During the Nebraska Husker’s run of national championships in the mid 90’s he talked just about that situation. He hated the BCS and what it did to the psyche of his players. He wanted a team that was angry “foaming at the mouth” and out to prove something at the end of the season as opposed to a team that is hanging on trying to protect a spotless record, which in the end proves nothing. ( I am NOT a Husker fan, but was always an admirer of Osborne.)
Here’s to the Bronco’s coming out and fighting like angry/fighting beats “foaming at the mouth” for a victory.
GO BRONCOS!!

Hey everybody the Cardinals are 6-3 and on their way to the division title again. How bout that?
Oh and by the way, they struggled in a couple of games. I know…I know, but they don’t have the chargers breathing their necks. Are you worried? Worrying causes illness and there isn’t anything on this beautiful green earth worth that. We will be fine and let’s face it, there is a lot of football left before anybody can count us out.

You are right, it is a long season and we have time to turn off this losing streak. It takes time for
It takes time for a team with lots of new players and coaches to become a cohesive unit. This is the time for all of us fans to be patient.
I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.

He is already rehearsing excuses for the next Sunday and preparing to congratulate Chargers on the win.

Dunno, without Orton it really does not look good. Yeah, I still will turn on my TV and root for the team.

he’s already got the chargers in his head. there is no way this team wont be ready. but yeah, it will be very very very difficult without orton

If Orton is injured I would go with Brandstater
Simms has really never been an effective starter in this league. Simms also has not played in a full game for about 2 and a half years. Brandstater has never started a regular season game but the quotes from McDaniels in the preseason about Tom B smarts, poise and the game not being to big for him as a rookie. Teammates also said similar things about Brandstater during the preseason also. I really do not see the difference in starting a rookie or a guy that has not played in over 2 years. Simms did not really look good today, the game looked to be moving to fast for him and his accuracy was really bad. Yea he can throw if 60+ yards but not accurately, sounds like a previous QB we had. I also do not like the fact that Simms has never played more then 11 Games in a season. He is a veteran but he only has played in 21 games in his 7 year career and has only started 15 of those games. He is not that much more playing time then Brandstater. Some people do not want to play a rookie. However even if it was only 1 and a half games in the preseason Brandstater has shown more talent and better decision making in that limited time then Simms has in his time as a Bronco. San Diego is playing well right now that they have got some wins over some crappy teams. This game next week is a must win in my opinion. If we can sweep the division series against them it would go a long way in helping take back the top spot in the AFC West

Also one more thing
Brandstater is a very smart person. I bet he has this playbook memorized by now. He did graduate from college with 2 majors i believe in 3 years and got his masters in 4 years. This kid has the smarts and talent to play in this league. He just needs his shot, kinda like another guy with the same initials

Broncosorbust talked about our team hitting a wall....
Pat Kirwan of NFL.com talked about that in reference to rookie QBs anumber of years ago. They start out great then when all the upcoming teams have seen film about them and figuredout how to deal with them, they “hit a wall”. He said that they simply have to play through it. Once they get to the other side, they will be successful again. I think that he wrote the article in 2006 about mid-season.
We will soon see what the character of this team is. My sense is that we will soon see them come together even stronger than before. Having Ryan McBean back apparently will help too – to hold the edge on the left side of the defense.
Nice post, broncoboy. Thanks for your time and energy.

After seeing the single worst piece of coaching in Bronco history on that fake (after TO) FG, I’m positive McDaniels and his staff were not focused on the game yesterday.
At least 40 of us at MHR saw what was coming when the Skins burned a TO after showing us their fake FG formation. Yet Denver was still running around like morons when the Skins ran the same formation at us after the TO for what turned into the game changing TD on a 4th and 21. Awesome job coaches, just awesome.
But that was not enough because we then had to call that awesome play where Simms had the deep ball option. Simms had proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was not ready to make any plays in the passing game. This all made sense as Moreno was having the best game of his career running the ball and Haynesworth was on the sideline injured. Just lovely coaching.
Game ball to the coaches. They are solely responsible for this loss.
This is my favorite website.
