We are likely to see stories like this all week. Here is one from Michael Lombardi of the NFP.

Fingers crossed
Not to doubt Lombardi or anything, but how is he so sure, given it’s Monday and we don’t know all the details yet? I just don’t quite trust this but hope he’s right!
I’m sure Orton wants to play big time, given it’s the Chargers…

Klis also makes it sound optimistic
Chris Simms will get his reps this week but the Broncos hope Kyle Orton will be able to play Sunday in the pivotal AFC West game against the San Diego Chargers despite his badly sprained left ankle.
Possibly aiding Orton’s recovery is this injury is to his left, plant foot _ and not the right, pushoff ankle he badly injured in the eighth game of last season against the Detroit Lions. That ankle injury forced Orton to miss one game and he wasn’t nearly as effective upon his return.

Orton had his helmet on in the second half like he wanted to play.
The injury (Contusion or Abrasion) must not be that bad. Just an ouch?

He probably had his helmet on to listen to the communication, no?
That’s what I was thinking at least.

That twist looked brutal.
Hopefully this fires up the OL. We can sit him out there in a boot and he can fire it deep, intermediate, or short— I don’t care. Just don’t make me watch Uncle Rico again!

Classic Walton. Can´t get enough Uncle Rico!

Orton's a tough SOB and I am glad to have him!

It's funny people's elated reaction to Orton playing over Simms (Including myself)
If you told us back in August (after the 49er game) that we’d all be clamoring for Orton over Simms in November we’d take a hearty laugh. Now people looking to Orton has the savior of the season and are ready to carve his face into Mt Elbert for how awesome he is

Irony is a funny thing, isn't it???

August? Heck folks (Woody, I'm talking to you here) were clamoring for Simms 6 days ago!

Don't lump me in with that crowd.
Simms is the backup for a reason. Orton’s the guy.

This absolutely taught me how complex McD's system is.
I know Simms hasn’t played in three years, but you don’t go out and lay an egg like that without knowing the exact timing and location of everyone on the field. If it takes this much work to become quasi-proficient for a veteran, I can’t imagine how long it will take to coach up a rook.

A genius rook, at that. Didn't the guy get his masters in four years or something like that? We aren't talking about Jamarcus Russel intelligence, here.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I'd feel better
if it came from VIC Lombardi.

I REALLY hope so
because from what I saw in Simms on Sunday, I wouldn’t be too confindent if he was our QB. We need this win and I can’t stress that enough.

I think Simms will start and depend on how he does, Orton might be inserted into the game if we are not doing well. I sure hope it’s not a high ankle sprained like he suffered last year or else he might be out for 4 weeks.
