Who do you hate?

Alright so seeing as it's Chargers week again, I figured there's no better time than now to talk about teams we hate.  I'll be honest, I know we're supposed to hate divisional rivals and I do, but I really can't say I hate the Raiders.  They're a joke.  My mother always told me "it's not nice to pick on people less fortunate than you" and I can't think of anyone less fortunate than Raiders fans.  And besides how can you hate someone that provides you with hours of comedic relief.

I personally hate the Steelers the most.  I hate the way they play, I hate their uniforms, I can't stand Jerome Bettis and how he'd fall forward for a 3 yard gain and the commentators would gush over how he's so great.  I just flat our hate the Steelers.  What about you guys?  Who do you hate and why?  Let's talk some smack but keep it clean.  Let's have a laugh we could all use one at this point.

Teams I Hate the Most

Definitely San Diego is enemy number one. Still strongly dislike Oakland and Kansas City. Also, do not like Pittsburgh (I like the way the Steelers draft players and build rosters, however) or Baltimore except for a few players on the Ravens. I hate the losses Indianapolis has handed the Broncos over the years, but it is hard to hate Peyton Manning and the way he carries his team on the field and the way he carries himself off of it. I don’t hate New England as much as I used to—simply because I have really grown to appreciate the way the Patriots have operated the past decade aside from the spy tapes and the fourth down call by Belichick on Sunday.

I'll take a stab at this

I despise the Chargers. And not just because its SD week, but I just can’t stand the current iteration of SD Chargers.
First, its the classless way they play ball. I understand being exuberant after scoring a touchdown, or after making a stop on 3rd down, but what I can’t stand is the Hyena-like whoopin and hollerin that the broadcast sometimes picks up. Its like, after someone makes a tackle, all you hear is Hyenas goin crazy. I don’t know who it is in particular, but I’m sure its all of them. It makes me sick whenever I hear it, and it happens every time they play.
Second, their uniforms are ugly. I’m not a fan of any competitive team wearing powder blue, unless they play in the WNBA. The Lightning Bolt for a team named after credit cards? They might as well be called the SD Electricians, or the SD Tasers.
And finally, the toilet bowl they play in, aka Qualcomm Stadium. Question; When was the last time you ever heard of Qualcomm? The stadium is named after a defunct phone company? And, after Oakland Coliseum and The Vet, is there a worst stadium in the NFL? And the Vet is gone!
Anyway, I don’t like the “Chargers”. And once we beat them into submission on Sunday, I hope the NFL breaks up that pathetic team.

I’ve been out of the gaming loop for a while, but the trailer and the commercial have got me jonesing.

That would lead to some major time wasting, and likely loss of a job for me, though.

For the record

Qualcomm is, and has been for a long time, the world’s leading manufacturer of “chips” for cell phones. They are the people you can thank for having your cell phone do everything your computer can do.

They are not a defunct cell phone company.

Yikes, agreeing with a Charger fan here

But yeah, ripping a team for their stadium name…pretty weak. Especially considering that Invesco doesn’t even exist as a company anymore (but it’ll always be Mile High to me!).

Gladly sharing a name with Dexter Fowler!

by ShadowPenguin on Nov 18, 2009 3:23 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I don't see it as weak. I was wrong about what Qualcomm (the company) is, but I still haven't heard of anything that Qualcomm does until above

That being said, I haven’t referred Denver’s home stadium as Invesco Field @ Mile High. Wherever the Broncos are playing their home games, as long as they are in Denver, CO, then its called Mile High to me.

I have always liked the Chargers (always loved the powder blue uni's)

but i have to admit this group kind of lowered the bar for me. But I can’t say I hate them unless we are playing them but then I hate everyone we are playing during the game ;-)

2) NE – can’t stand bellicheat
3) Pittsburgh – can’t stand the terrible towels

great fun, nice lighter note.

have to start with san diego. grew up in cali and had to deal with that attitude for too long. so do i hate the fans or team? both. both. both.

raiders. im not interested in learning how to make prison shivs or getting my niece-wife-in-step pregnant, why would i like the raiders?

Pittsburgh. all abou the fans. been to too many bars watching the broncos where i wondered if i would need to jump out a window to flee the riot started by morons in black and yellow jackets and hats.

oh and the chargers. again. they get 2x mention, because siphyllis "cry me a " rivers is their cheerleader of ballboy or alter boy or something.

and the Broncos are my favorite team. Ha!

Important distinction...

Our division rivals are a given, after that it I think I based my team hatred more on the fans of a given team than the team themselves. My list:

1. Eagles/Ravens/Steelers. I live in York, Pa and all these fans converge to create a cacophony of fan noise that causes my ears to bleed. Rare is the Monday I get to enjoy silence. But I actually respect the play of all three teams and organizations. It’s just their fans that irk the heck out of me.

2. Dallas/Favre. America’s team and America’s boy. Enough said.

3. Anyone who plays the Broncos!

CHARGERS!

I Live in California, so I deal with raiders and chargers fans in a daily basis. But, charger fans are just a pain in the ass, every time they see me wearing my broncos gear is like a fight about to break, plus I HATE PHILIP RIVERS, as I posted before his face makes me sick.

The Chargers and everything about them

Except for 4 Charger fans I know, I can’t stand stand their fan base. The fact that I live in SD makes it worse because the boarding and unboarding of the bandwagon is just plain rediculous. They could be a horrible team and I would still feel the same.

The rest of AFC west is in their too, however SD takes the cake with Faider Nation right behind them. I have never really had anything against the Chiefs, but I don’t like them because they are in our division.

Loathsome...

I really do try to dial back my disgust with these teams and fans, but so far it’s been a futile effort. I’m not a monk, after all.

1 – Chargers. Can’t stand the players, the coach, or the fans. Recent domination of the Broncos doesn’t help matters.
2 – Cowboys. America’s Team? Says who? Was there a vote that I missed?
3 – Chiefs. Don’t really mind the team, but I’ve never seen a more juvenile, backwards fan base.
3 – Favre’s current team. I’d love for him to retire at some point within my lifetime.
4 – Lakers. Kobe. Because he’s good and he owns my team consistently. Seeing him pulling on his jersey after he scores makes me want to kick my dog. And I love my dog.
5 – Yankees. Apparently you can buy a championship… Steinbrenner is to MLB as Al Davis is to the NFL.

Nice idea, TDB. Thanks for letting me jump over to the Dark Side for a moment.

Raiders first, of course,

They represent to me all that is evil about football.
I’ve never been able to gin up much emo about SD. I respect them but then I can ignore them, too. I’ve always felt sorry for the Chiefs – someday they’ll have a team.

Cowboys (America’s Team? Not!) and Dolphins next.

Finally, this year I’ve learned to hate – no, loathe – the Bears. There’s sweet pleasure in every Cutler pick and Chicago loss.

is that Drew Brees is in NO. Brees, from what I’ve seen, is one of the classiest QBs to have played the game. Rivers is the exact opposite.

Agreed... I have the most BEGRUDGING of respect for Phyllis

He has the most ugly release and throw, but damn it always gets to the target, for the winning score no less.

And my respect for him definitely started with the playoff game vs Indy. That was a gutsy performance. If only LT could do the same in the playoffs… OH SNAP.

;)

by tunga77 on Nov 19, 2009 10:28 AM MST up reply actions   0 recs

It's not his interviews that are classless.

It’s his play and on-the-field behavior. I will admit that after getting to know Jay Cutler this offseason, I don’t deny that Jay may have started some of the infamous shenanigans, and that was classless as well. But regardless of what others do, a classy individual would NOT be caught by the cameras on the sideline taunting the opposing team or players with “Bye Bye Baby!” as he gloats during a blowout win. Rivers is a hothead on the field, and he’s not a good sport. He always does a great job backpedaling and pretending to be a gentleman in his interviews, but that guy is NOT who he really is.

Additionally, Darren Sproles pointing to the back of his jersey after one return for a TD shows ego, not class.

This behavior is not limited to the chargers, and not every charger is classless. I have a lot of respect for LT, for example. I am not pleased with Brandon Marshall’s historic lack of class, most recently witnessed as he "WTF"’d on the sideline during our loss to the ‘skins. I understand the emotion, but I don’t want football (what I consider family programming) to be viewed as classless.

I am with most others here – I never had a problem with the chargers before Rivers. I actually rooted for the chargers when Seau and co went to the Super Bowl. But everyone here is right – this iteration of the chargers is vile beyond compare in my opinion.

OK - I'll play

1. Chargers – they sure are cocky and mouthy for a team that while pretty good, has never won it all and now I’m just tired of them (I actually like the unis though).
2. Raiders – although they’re tougher to hate these days because they’re so lousy, their fans are just tough to take seriously and the majority are armed.
3. Chiefs – this just goes way back to the 60’s with Dawson, Taylor, Bell, Haynes, etc. They beat us consistently for years and we still have trouble with them, at least at Arrowhead.
4. Ravens – I just have no respect for Modell and Ray-Ray’s schtick was tiresome years ago; however, much respect for Ozzie Newsome.
5. Titans – Once again, an ass for an owner that once again showed both his intellect and class level this past sunday.

I’m a little surprised at the enmity I see above directed at the Steelers (just a model franchise from a small market); they do things right and have been amazingly successful doing it. I could list the Patriots as well as I’m tired of them, but they know what they’re doing. The Colts are another franchise that sneaked off in the middle of the night, but I enjoy watching Manning play – he’s one of a kind. And finally, if I were to pick a number 6, it would have to be the Cowboys with their obnoxious owner and fans – they keep choking though, so I don’t get too wound up.
