A Journalist's Responsiblity
This is a topic I have every right to speak at length upon as I am a professional journalist, Southern Utah University graduate, class of 2006, in case you were wondering. Although we did not have the pedigree of the University of Missouri's or Northwestern University's journalism schools, I was taught well. For instance, my copy editing teacher threatened to flunk me, despite a semester's worth of work that scored well into the 80s, should I leave a major factual error on the final project, an article from the Provo (Utah) Daily Herald.
This, of course, instilled within me, a meticulous and solid work ethic which caused me to ascertain that all that I wrote (or copy edited) was accurate, precise and bereft of any deception. When looking upon this latest report that Kyle Orton has torn ligaments in his ankle, I think accuracy, precision and trustworthiness have all been violated by the tool who wrote of his injury.
Now that the Broncos have dropped three straight games, the MSM is swift to beat their chests and proclaim to the world that they were right about our alleged fraudulence. This, once again, depicts another flaw in the national press. They hate the Broncos.
Now, to be fair, I hate the Raiders, Chiefs and Chargers with all the vitriol that any other Broncos fan does (not to mention the Cowboys and Patriots), but in the event that I should ever become a national NFL reporter, I promise to cast aside all my previous suppositions, for my paycheck comes from the league and therefore, I must be fair to all its teams.
How then, is it permissible for buffoons like John Clayton and Jamie Pukes to have such hatred for the Broncos? Did Mr. Bowlen tell them to "go to hell?" Not likely. Thus, we see a great and obnoxious conundrum in place.
The only clue concerning Orton's status is Coach McDaniels says he felt better than Wednesday. Hmmm, so Orton feels better than he did earlier in the week, but his prognosis worsens. In the words of Metallica: the MSM lies so much it believes itself, at least pertaining to the Broncos.
In closing, the time has come for the Broncos to lay the wood against the Dolts and much to the chagrin of the MSM (and Woody Paige), assert themselves as the class of the AFC West.
Thanks again for reading and of course, GO BRONCOS!!!

Kyle Orton may have torn ligaments, as they are commonly associated with a sprain injury.
To what extent they are torn is privy to Kyle’s attending physician and those in the need to know. It could be anything from a slight tear to a torn lose injury or anything in between. One thing that is different is that the injury is on his front foot, not his planted foot. They can tape the foot as they do so often with many different players and it might hamper his mobility some, but I doubt if it would keep him out of the game. McD will keep everything tight lipped until he has to report who is and who isn’t playing.
We all know this is a game that might determine the outcome of our season, it is a very important game. Congrats on your degree.

What's so weird about it?
If he has an ankle sprain there will be “TORN LIGAMENT”! Period. Now, how much they are torn is another question. The msm is just throwing the story out there (like crap) to see where it will land, that’s all. There is no deception with this as anybody with any medical knowledge would know, it is what it is. Weird? Maybe. But I am sure if Kyle Orton is able to play on a “SORE” foot he will, with lots of tape. This is no big deal ten and we don’t have to make more out of it than what has been portrayed. Sorry if your confused.

Good post
I was kinda taken by surprise when I started hearing today’s injury report. So I rooted around trying to find out where the info came from. I wish I could have those 30mins back.

Nice post, T-Bird!
I grew up an hour south of CC, and I spent a lot of time up in that area. Went to a few parties up at SUU, and learned how to snowboard at Brian Head. Makes me a bit homesick just thinking about it.
bfree makes a good point about KOs injury. The issue in question is the extent of the damage to the ligaments. This being a rivalry week, I don’t see that info getting out at all before kickoff. We’ll know who starts most likely right before the game. I’m sure McD wants SD to have to game plan for both Simms and Orton. He’ll leave the uncertainty out there as long as he can, short of breaking the rules.

The only reason I can explain why some of the media continues to lie to the public is that they are starving for attention and must sensationalize every little thing that they can, in order for the public to notice them.
In Orton’s case, if he was able to walk to the press conference sans crutches, how can this be blown so out of proportion. Last night (Wednesday) on the 6 o"clock news, he said he hoped he would play and it sounded very much like they were going to have to tie him down to prevent him from playing. He is a gamer, and showed it last year while playing 3 or 4 games with a high ankle sprain to his plant foot, This injury is on hid front foot which makes me think that he will play.

They were raised in american schools, Kirk
They place their highest values in the hands of social “opinion”, and as such, they feel powerless unless they are “opinionmakers.” The power they seek is power over others, but not to demand riches or slave labor, but rather to demand or grovel for acceptance. It is a monumentally twisted form of self-esteem, and it is life-destroying, instead of life-giving.
They are screwed though, since they have no control of their OWN opinions. They long ago forfeited the content of their minds, and I honestly, sadly, fear that there is no going back once someone has been in that position.
And I agree on Orton, Kap. The dude may not be taking all the practice reps, but that may be more about Simms than it is about Orton. SD is playing better, so i know who I would rather have at this point, but prudence is always advisable, unless it is …gulp… too late.
Precision in thought, concision in style, decision in life.

Hamper his mobility?
When did Kyle Orton get mobility?
I don’t see any repercussions of him playing this weekend. Torn or sprained or strained or ripped. Tape it up, shot him with cortisone and let’s play ball.
