I said it in the 2nd QTR thread and I'll say it again
This second half is crucial to our season. We have looked flat the last few games on defense. Our entire team needs to show me something. I could only hope for another 2005 with a pick 6 by bailey to start the second half (I think it was the second half). However, if we play like we should in the second half and still lose this game, I’m not giving up hope. I want to see our team man up and show some heart.
this has not been as bad as is being made out
yes the Simms led offense was terrible, but the d has played well in general, they’ve just been given terrible field position. THey’ve tackled really well, especialy on screens, and kept the running game in check, to give up only 13 points considering how bad the offense has been is not that bad. KO has come in and driven down the field straight away…..hey, at least Mitch Berger is having a good game too :D

and being given piss poor field position. If you watched the game you’d see they’ve tackled excellently, and have played great discipline against the run

Those stats are not good. No RB should fumble more than 1% of his carries, which is about 1 fumble per every four games for an everydown back.

But I find it very hard to believe that 99% of NFL backs don’t stretch out in that situation.

lets hope for some turnovers by our defense, and for some third down stops to get them off the field. Orton looks good, and our offense looks good now.

I know – hate to say it, but to not even review the last pick? To not make the call for the TD to begin with, and then to not reverse it… can they not see the same angle I saw? A hold on Clady… but no-calls on some pretty obvious ones for SD? I think Denver would be in it if it were just called the same both ways… Usually hate that excuse, but it has been terrible today…

Just saying. It sure seems like these refs are trying to put a few SD’s way to make last years game even. They’ve done this against Denver a few times this season.

1) If you jerked Simms this quickly, why not start Orton anyway
2) If you jerked Simms so quickly, was the decision to sign him to such a large contract the right one
3) Were you really desperate to go for an onside kick in the 3rd quarter
4) If you were desperate enough to go for an onside kick, why wasn’t the previous drive 4-down territory?
5) Do you think you’ve been out-coached in the last 4 games?

1) legitimate question, I don’t know how he can answer that without admitting he made a mistake somewhere
2) pointless question, he isn’t going to throw Simms under the bus
3) teams have gone for onside kicks as a shock factor rather than because they are desperate, as I said above, we had the first shot at it an should have recovered it
4) 4th and five in the situation was definitely a place you take the field goal
5) I think that’s obviously a yes, but what sort of a guy would he be if he said yes?

Not that this game is close, but SD has gotten every single break go there way. And the refs have made a few bad calls or non calls that also when SDs way.

but it’s a product of their own failures. The only time this defense was given a raw deal was the onside kick attempt. Giving up long, time-consuming drives and failing to make any significant game-changing plays is exactly what has taken us from 6-0 to what looks more and more like 6-4.

It’s an honest question. I don’t see anyone stepping in and getting the rhythm correct, and he obviously misses some of his accuracy/playmaking ability with the ankle issue.

Don’t forget that our offense was absolutely horrific in the 2nd half of the Pittsburgh and Baltimore games too. There’s a lot more problems going on with this team than Simms or Orton.

SD is really irritating me
not because the game, but their utter disrespect of this team.

I don’t want any of them injured, but if I was in a Broncos uniform, I would be punching one of them in the mouth right now.
It’s a crying damn shame that a team this ugly and disrespectful gets all the praise they do.

That start
was the worst thing to happen to the fans, especially around here. While this collapse has sucked, this was still a team that looked like it was made for 8-10 wins this year. Considering where we started in TC, I would have been completely satisfied with 8 wins and if we end up winning that many I would still consider this to be a somewhat successful year. We aren’t Super Bowl contenders this year but we’re absolutely building towards being one in the very near future. We just have to keep our perspective for the long run and not continue to get caught up in what almost was.

Really the TURNOVERS differential have been the difference between first 6 and last 4. That’s always huge. And it’s been killing Denver. They need to start getting takeaways and not giving it away, simple as that. And playing more disciplined again.
