by Broncos L.A. on Nov 22, 2009 4:31 PM MST reply actions 0 recs
I don't see how he's the "future".
In a league in which QB movement is extremely frequent, we could be looking at three completely different QBs on the roster in just two years. It really isn’t that inconceivable.

He's the present.
I’m not saying three entirely different QBs in two years would be a bad things. We don’t know who those three guys would be or how good they’d be, but saying Orton is the future probably isn’t true. If he continues to flourish and maintains solid health, I’m all for letting him finish his career here.

what's worse
this defense has held up fairly nicely today. They’ve been asked basically to save this game. They’ve don’t a fairly good job of that, given the crap field position and terrible turnovers.

That has been pretty much all season Joe. Our O is average to terrible each week. McDaniels has to answer for this given the talent.

by McGeorge on Nov 22, 2009 4:33 PM MST up reply actions 0 recs
I think that this is a good point regarding McDaniels and the offense. There is absolutely no excuse for the almost complete inability of an offense filled with this much talent to score touchdowns over the past four games. I’ve also noticed that McDaniels can be a bit stubborn with his playcalling at times; against Baltimore and Pittsburgh, he continually returned to ineffective runs up the middle and short passes that were gaining very little and presented no challenge or unpredictability to two very good defenses that handled the game plans with tremendous ease. Last week, Moreno had a very good first half on the ground and he barely got the ball in the final 30:00, even with Orton being replaced and Simms looking absolutely awful. Why did they continue to go to the pass when the run had been working, the pass was clearly not and they either had the lead or were extremely close? While I am pleased to see the Broncos willing to let Orton go downfield a bit in this game, there is no excuse for the lack of scoring.
Also, why on earth have the Broncos abandoned the blitz? Once again, the more passive defensive gameplan clearly is not working, so why are they continuing to use it? The Broncos defense in the first six weeks was almost categorically aggressive (with the main exception of the NE game), and was extraordinarily effective. This passivity is clearly not working (you’ve all seen the stats…or maybe I’m just too lazy to copy and paste them haha), so why stick with it? They can’t force a turnover to save their lives anymore, whereas they were a constant threat to do so in the first six weeks. And isn’t the turnover battle critical to Broncos football, particularly given the team? Obviously my football knowledge amounts to about 1/1000000 that of McDaniels, Nolan & Co., but I really don’t understand what they have been thinking recently.

Field Position Says
Average for SD: 34.43
Average for Den: 28.00
That doesn’t seem like a lot, but 6 yards on this stat is a good larger margin of victory.
League average is 29 yard line, so Denver is below average today yet again, SD above average

We lost this game due to turn overs alone
If Simms and KnoMo had not fumbled those points away, it would’ve been a different game. Even just the KnowMo TD just before the half would’ve helped alot

don’t care how much you hate any teams but to wish injury on anyone is just plain messed up… Don’t know if you have ever played sports but it sounds like you never have. But you don’t wish injury on a player.. IT IS A GAME….
If we as fans don’t like feeling like this then we must win our games….. no other reason….

a lot of rookies don’t play much at all. Why are you judging with finality the draft and his pick based on that? Sure I’d love it if he were awesome right now but I didn’t expect him to come in and be a major contributor the first few months of the season. Let’s check back in a year or two to evaluate is all I’m saying…

It is so funny that you come on here and post
a lot more now that we are losing and almost never posted when we where winning. You just love to talk bad about this team. Are you seriously calling out our rookies. Moreno has played well but fumbles a bit to much. Ayers has improved every week. Smith played well at the beginning of the season but has not been the same since he got injured. McBath and Bruton have been really good on ST. The rookies drafted in the later rounds are sitting the bench learning like most rookies do. Our rookies have not disappointed at all. They have all played like rookies. Most rookies do not step in and make immediate impacts

I appreciate the company here during this tough stretch almost as much as I enjoy it when we’re winning. :-) Thanks all for keeping the faith, or even those of you who aren’t. ;-) This team wasn’t as good as undefeated and they’re better than a 4 in a row loser, too. I agree! I still believe that this is a good team that just needs to get things going in the right direction again. I do think that, even during the win streak, there were still some significant issues that are now more glaring because of the losses. But this team is fully capable of winning if they gameplan better and regain some confidence.
Regardless, if you are a Broncos fan, I think it’s important to have faith and believe in your team. Just have fun; games like these just make you even more grateful for the wins.

not the way we are playing
we should do it on our own and not hope for someone else to let us in..How has it worked for us in the past?? I would rather earn it than have it handed to me

I think I would ask the Broncos themselves
if they would say no to being in the playoffs

Just saying
lets earn it and deserve it or we will once again be bitch slapped in a game we don’t belong in…. Don’t know about you but I don’t hold much in going to the playoffs only to be embarrassed…. If you belong you represent the game. Don’t want to just go to the dance and be happy to be there

What does one have to do with the other?
The Raiders are a non factor. Broncos need to beat them of course but if they can’t beat out the Raiders this season then things will really have fallen apart. Bengals are more a team to root against because they are battling for playoff spot too.

Wow i am glad I went out with my GF today
instead of watching the game. I taped it but i think i will delete it right away. This is the team most of us thought they would be at the beginning of the season. I think everyones expectations changed when we started 6-0 and everyone forgot this team had a ton a flaws and did not have the best talent. We still have some games left on the schedule we can win. I am think about 9-7 right now. People need to go back and think about what they thought this team would be before the season started and judge the team on those expectations. Most people would say we have already exceeded their original expectations. Also this current losing streak cannot be blamed all on coaching. The players have come out flat and have looked like they have given up on games. Also McDaniels should cut Simms on monday morning he is a complete waste of a roster space. People really though he was better then Brandstater lol.

Don't bother.
Seriously, you didn’t miss anything.
Well, except a gripload of turnovers, some bad play calling and what might have been the worst executed onside kick in the history of football.

C'mon 7-4!?!
maybe we need to unretire the number 7?
Could it be that Ryan Harris is the lynch pin for this team, how long does it take to recover from a toe injury?

Well, dang.
McD said a couple naughty things and Marshall threw a hissy fit. We all need to take some yoga classes to calm down a teensy little bit, the season isn’t over yet.
Also, if I ever meet Woody, I’m punching him in the nuts.

We could be the only team in history to win it's first 6 games and lose the next 5.
Is history in the making or do we have a chance against the Giants hursday night? Both team will only have 4 days rest with the Giants traveling in 3. We still have the altitude advantage, but the way they played today I would be afraid the Rams could beat us. We aren’t gellin’ like we were and it shows. Let’s hope we can have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Remember too, everyone, how quickly things can change in this league. Just as things looked rosy four weeks ago and such a slide seemed near-impossible, things can change very drastically, rapidly and unpredictably. Two weeks from now, this loss may be a distant memory. I’m not predicting that necessarily, but it is absolutely a possibility.

CAN WE STOP NOW!!!
Is the glass still half full? Is this coaching staff really that much different?? Instead of a late season meltdown this is a mid season implosion. Find whatever silver lining you would like but frankly they are pathetic. A spade is a spade and they have lite years to travel as a team and be successful in this league. One would have thought it might have been a gradual decline though. It’s as though the light switch has been turned off in regard to the D line.

Sickening
As a Broncos fan it really puts a bad taste in my mouth seeing you bad mouth the team that just handed our asses to us. They outplayed us in ever facet of the game, their d-line made our o-line look pedestrian. Their secondary played great on our WR’s, face it the Chargers are just a GOOD team. After this performance its almost assured that they will win the division and if they play like they did today against us they could challenge the Colts/Patriots in the playoffs. In fact if I am not mistaken haven’t they beaten the Colts the last 3 or 4 times they’ve played? Anyway, this team is not done yet, we need to regroup and plan for this Thursdays game, this season is far from over and the playoffs are there if we want them bad enough. So let’s get healthy and look at our own team before we start making comments about the chances of our opponents in the playoffs.
