It is not Simm's fault that he did poor..
I am not going to make this a long winded post but let's be honest. Simm's had about as much business being out there as Orton did. Bad left ankle? Try a bad blind side tackle. No knock on Orton either. Simms just could not get the protection he needed from his blind side which is switched since he is a left handed quarterback. To be honest McDaniels should have known this. Simms will always do poorly when the offensive line is built around a right handed quarterback. Now this MAYBE would have been okay if Ryan Harris was not hurt.
Simms poor play was not why we lost and hopefully most people understand this but I just thought I would go ahead and put it out there. Not sure if it is worth anything. Fumble's were why we lost this game.

LOL....
Simms has less business being on an NFL field than Michael Vick
I will not give him any benefit of the doubt from poor o-line play. If a QB is not in the NFL for 3 years, he should never be able to step foot onto a football field again

The offense can be played by either a right or left handed QB
The RT didn’t do his job on the fumble, true. But I can’t go the whole way – Simms is responsible for his own playing badly. I’m not thinking of lynching him and I don’t see the end of the world, but the job of a #2 QB is to come in and play well when needed. He didn’t do that in either game.
Fumbles were one reason, bad penalties another, poor gap play a third, and the list goes on. No, it’s not all on Simms. It’s on all of them. But Simms did a poor job.

Yes Doc...
A number 2 sgould have the abilty to hit cehck downs ad get rid of the ball. Simms sucks pure and simple!
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
All I want is 53 Rod Smiths. Is that asking too much????

Well
He was holding onto the ball too long in Training Camp, so itis no real surprise.

I beg to differ....
Chris Simms still shows signs of fear and he looks awkward. He hangs on to the ball “WAAAAYYYYY” to long! You’re right, it’s not Simm’s fault we lost, it’s McD’s fault for thinking he could be an effective QB? I think Brandstater’s better equipped to take the reigns from Orton than Simms. He’s never been the same since his injury and he never will. He was supposed to be a quality backup to Culter, and that’s exactly who and what he is…? Chris Simms (except for Woody Paige’s belief) is just not an effective QB anymore, and to expect him to step in and play well is just delusional. My guess is that after today’s any confidence he may have had in his own ability is completely gone after the plethra of “Boo’s” and then being “Benched”…..

Numerically, Chris Simms is number 2 and Brandstater is number 3.
Literally. I think jersey numbers are dictating the order of the depth chart, here, and that needs to change.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Not Sim's Fault...
that he did poorly?
I’m sorry but I don’t think we saw the same game. How many minutes was Simms in before Orton came in? Orton had more yards passing in his first minute than Simms did in a quarter and a half.
Simms isn’t even a simulation of an NFL QB.
I'd rather watch a TEAM play than a few stars.

remember this, guys...
the reason simms is even here in the first place is because brandstater is a long-term project who is not meant to see the field at all this year, or maybe even next year.
we are better off cutting simms and signing a guy like jeff garcia, who has shown time and again that he can be an excellent backup in the NFL, to be QB #2.
Remember, Tom B is not meant to see the light of day.

Yeah, it is Simms' fault
Where has he been since the start of training camp, the Witness Protection Program? With a week of 1st-team reps, he should have been able to go in and do better than that. The offense wasn’t utter cr@p today, when Orton went in on a bad ankle, they started moving the ball much better, but kept making mistakes.
As for Brandstater, he should be #2 now. Orton is the guy if he is able, but I don’t believe that QBs actually get that much better from the sideline.

i'd rather
have tom b get to see the light of day than to see simms wearing a broncos jersey again. his play was horrible. he held onto the ball way too long. the line can only protect for so long. that first fumble that turned the whole game was his fault. he didnt move in the pocket at all…. took too long to make his reads and than did not step up to make his throw but stood perfectly still letting the outside rush come around and tap the ball away from his hands. the whole time he was in the game we couldnt do ANYTHING passing. you can say its the blind side rushing… but if it was that easy to get to the QB from that side… san diego would be rushing from that side the whole game!!!! simms is just not a good QB…. plain and simple!

This can also be blamed on GM and coach...
for bringing in and paying a guy more than the starting QB when he looks like he really shouldn’t be in the league. Front office really blew the call on signing our backup QB.
by bonaire on Nov 22, 2009 7:58 PM MST reply actions 0 recs
Keep in mind that he was brought in as Cutler's backup and not Orton's.
Not sure if the front office was anticipating giving Cutler more than Simms, but either way, I don’t think they anticipated their new starting QB to be earning less money than simms. Simply an NFL contract glitch. It happens. It will not stay this way over the offseason. You can count on that.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I don't disagree..
but they have to do a much better job of evaluating backup QBs than bringing in Simms (at any price).

It IS Simms's fault that he played so poorly.
All you get from drafting the "best player available" is a team full of good football players.
Cotton McKnight: I'm being told that Average Joe's does not have enough players and will be forfeiting the championship match.
Pepper Brooks: It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

Offensive Offense
The entire offense is making too many mistakes and getting beat in key situations. I expected McD’s system to gradually improve offensive productivity, but this is not happening. While Orton did have one effective drive, the majority of series were abysmal failures.
