It's obviously frustrating. This is probably the most frustrating game I've ever been a part of. I approached it like it was a playoff game, and I'm frustrated because we lost. We all need to look at ourselves first. I'm going to go back and watch film on myself and see what I'm doing wrong, what I changed from last year, how I can help the team move the ball down field, get the ball. So, I'm going to look at myself first and go back to last year and see if I changed anything or if my routes aren't the same, or if I'm not catching the ball well, so I'll start there.
Brandon Marshall, after the Broncos were beaten by the Chargers 32-3. It is a new level of maturity from Marshall - like he says, every man in that locker room needs to look in the mirror

Great to see him show such maturity in discussing a game
Even if he was behaving a bit immaturely on the sideline. This is comforting.

marshall
at least he showing a better attitude to the press than he was on the field.
1) getting in moreno’s face after the fumble
2) clearly telling orton how to throw him the ball on a fade in the 4th
and there’s this sequence (in which the fade was involved): where he was clearly acting like a total primadonna on the field
Orton responded by trying to force it to him on 3 plays in a row leading to body languages changes in the huddle after the third throw that looked like orton coudl have said something like "see, you aren’t getting open!"
—i’ve seen that on the pickup-game field a lot of times… that worries me in an NFL huddle

1 – That’s what a leader does .. He tells the Rookie that he has to finish that play off and not fumble. It doesn’t matter that he hit he’s OL’s leg .. he has to finish that play off and hold on to the ball.
2 – He was right, Orton threw the ball too far and didn’t give him a chance to make the play
It’s called frustration and emotion – 2 things that the rest of the team seem to lack, if they had more players that put in the effort that Marshall did they wouldn’t have been blown away.

Orton was being hit as he threw. It was basically throwing it away, at that point. I'm sure when Brandon sees the film, he will see that.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Brandon's too young...
and his antics too fresh for me to call him a leader. So while a leader might talk to Rook, he’s not the guy that should be saying that…

It didn't last long
he was celebrating with moreno after his long run. I don’t know how many people saw it or not but he wasn’t mad at moreno for long

didn't see that
i guess that makes me feel better, but I still didn’t like the dynamic of that 4th quarter series… that was really uncomfortable to watch.

This is a good thing
If you tear someone down for screwing up you should be the first one patting them on the back when they do it right.

It seemed like just initial frustration.
He’s emotional. I personally like the fact he was so passionate about the game. I wish some other guys wanted the W as bad as he did. We might of had a better shot.

Exactly
BDawk went down and he was trying to show leadership. He wants to win. How many games has Moreno fumbled away?

He seems to have an issue with it, but...
that one was just an unfortunate play. I really believe he was in, but Hoch’s knee just hit the ball perfectly. Kinda flukey.

I saw a player holding another accountable when he confronted Knowshon.
I saw a player trying to get in sync with his QB.
I saw a player look like he didn’t want to lose, wasn’t going to give up, playing with some passion.

I feel the same way. Seeing guys get angry on the sideline during that game was better than seeing the apathy when the Lions were killing us in 2007.
Marshall’s behavior didn’t bother me in the slightest and I doubt it has any negative effect on this team. Moreno needed to be confronted. His fumbles must stop.

I guess I am in the minority
I saw a guy who calls out a rookie when BM has had more stupid fumbles in his short career that he shouldn’t be saying a word. I saw a guy calling out his QB who was trying his best in a bad situation, I hear what he says, but his actions don’t back up his words. I am tired of this act, I think he is more worried about the catches and getting paid than this team winning or being a good teamate. For everyone calling out Jay Cutler being all about himself, how can you not say BM actions aren’t the same or worse?

You don't need to apologize
That fumble was a fluke: Moreno was trying to stretch and Hochstein’s knee arrived at the precise time to jar the ball loose. And Marshall shouldn’t be calling out his QB for missing him on a fade; Orton is playing on one leg — so its up to his teammates to pick him up. Looks to me like Marshall shortarmed that last throw on 4th and 15; he has a tendency to do that in games he doesn’t think are winnable.

Marshall just needs to keep his emotions in check
I saw him giving Moreno the bidness on the sideline, but I also saw him giving props after the long run. His attitude in the fourth was typical BM though, and it wasn’t good.

The flip side is Champ Bailey. Champ rarely shows any emotion and it doesn’t look like he cares as he sits on the bench every week.

yep.
two extremes in that sense. Personally, I love a fiery player that shows his emotions in a case like this.
Why is it that Marshall calls out the offensive players for screwing up and he’s getting crucified, but Dawkins calls out the defensive players for mistakes and people say he’s a great leader for it.
That seems like a crappy double standard to me. You can’t have it both ways people. Personally, I love a leader that’s vocal out there. It gets results.

It might stem from his past behavior.
People often assign to you the personality that they expect. Therefore no matter your words and actions they interpret them based on what they want to see.
Some people are convinced Marshall is inherently a malcontent, so they assign bad intentions to his behavior regardless of what he does.
Maybe they’re right but maybe they’re wrong, too. From what he said above it sounds like maybe he really is growing up.
Don't argue with fools. It's how they reproduce.

Are you saying that Champ doesn't care that we win?
by Whosbob89 on Nov 22, 2009 8:01 PM MST up reply actions 0 recs
I don't think he's saying that at all
I think what he means is that Champ is the quiet leader who doesn’t show a whole lot of emotion.

I would rather see my teams players getting mad and upset with losing than sulking and walking to the bench with their head down and not talking to anyone. Like what I just saw on Sunday night football.

we just need a win
Harder than it sounds, but one win could solve a lot of our problems right now. We’ve lost our groove and we need to get it back.

GOOD FOR MARSHALL!!!
I, as a few others have stated, had/have absolutely NO problem with Brandon Marshall getting in Moreno’s face and displaying for all to see his anger and frustration at what was happening yesterday. To me, THAT is showing his maturation. During last year’s fade, I would’ve given anything to see some kind of fire from this team, from anyone! He77, I would’ve loved to see Matt Prater storming the sidelines! Why? Because that kind of emotion can be channeled. It can bring an intensity and a focus that wakes up some of those who would rather sit on the bench with their heads under a towel watching the Jumbotron. It shows the game means something to them and they will do whatever it takes to get back on track. As much as I despise the classless chargers right now, look at what happened after LT’s little tirade on the sideline when they put Sproles in at the goalline against the Broncos in their first game. They’ve ripped off 5 in row since then.
There is still room for this team to turn it around, but the window is closing. If they lose Thurs to NY, then they’re done. Let that overflow of anger and frustration be the turning point for this team, the moment when they finally said, “That’s enough!”
Hang on folks, road's a little bumpy in these spots.
