What happened to robert ayers?
I find it hard to believe that he was held inactive but moss wasn’t. He isn’t on the report today so that has me really concerned. He is one of our first round picks.
"Pleased? We are excited about the proposition of going forward from where we are right now. Pleased? I don't know if you want to say pleased. You may want to hang your hat on pleased. I don't want to hang my hat on nothing right now."
-Brian Dawkins, on the play of the defense
Once he gets his hands on you, there's not much you're going to do. Then you can't outrun him, you can't run around him, you can't really run him over -- so you've just got to deal with it."

I don’t care for Woody Paige, but he said something at the end of preseason that really bothered me about Ayers and Alphonso Smith. Woody said that his sources inside the Broncos said the team was down on both those players and how slow they were coming along.
Are they slow to develop? Or are they just not very good in the first place. Ayers was a flash in the pan college player, but Alphonso was a great college player.
I could have guessed Ayers might bust, but Alphonso’s struggles are very disappointing.

Dude i know were aren't really happy at how well our rookies have played so far but
remember its only their rookie season, they are in their early 20’s they make mistakes…….no one can be considered a bust yet, the season isn’t even over yet

Right now, Alphonso Smith and Ayers are just disappointing. I’m certainly not seeing future stars in those two. Or any of our rookies for that matter.
The BUST lable will wait until late next seaon for any 2009 rookie.

frankly
neither of those two have played enough to call them much of anything yet. Mistakes? Yeah a couple. What differentiates them from anyone else in the NFL then? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, right now our rookies (barring Moreno) are depth, and so we should probably withhold judgement on them.

Why aren't we doing walkthroughs?
All that conditioning at the beginning of the season… Isn’t that so we can withstand the rigors of the season? It seems to have backfired horribly, and now we can’t even show our guys the gameplan three days before the game? That’s absolutely terrible.

Well...
I sure can’t tell from the above what the Broncos are doing today. I am sure they have a plan of action. Whether it will work or not remains to be seen but I am sure there is one.
Don't argue with fools. It's how they reproduce.

I think the day after a game might too soon
to have everything completely formulated. I am sure they have a good plan. Whether it will be executed correctly or it will be the right game plan remains to be seen Thursday ;-)

I seriously doubt
that they haven’t been shown the gameplan. Just because they “did not practice” doesn’t mean people weren’t at Broncoland watching film and getting the first dose of the gameplan.

I imagine they did film session and discussions about gameplay with their respective coaches
A truth can only be expressed and enveloped in words if it is one-sided. Everything that is thought and expressed in words is one-sided, only half the truth; it all lacks totality, completeness, unity.

That is exactly what they did...but no practice.
I’m sure they will have plenty of practice time Tuesday and Wednesday.

For short weeks like this
I am sure the coaching staff got some stuff done in preparation for the Giants so they won’t be overloaded this week.

That's probably an accurate assessement.
We’ve failed ourselves mentally as much as we have physically. Still, I’d like more opportunities to get familiar with muscle memory.

yeah
it hasnt backfired at all.
the last 4 weeks after the bye we have let up 24 21 13 and 19 points in the second half.
average of over 19 points a game in the second half. Our offense isnt staying on the field long enough. Our D is playing sloppy.
Teams have figured out a scheme of a lot of passing early then slowly mixed in effective running and then PA with a lot of runs in the second half to wear out our D. Offense cant get in sync and we fail.
"it aint no doggone tomorrow fellas, what you gonna bring to the doggone game, you gonna bust somebody in their mouth, are you gonna do youre doggone job, are u gonna play from your doggone fist, are you gonna play from you're heart, and give everything you doggone got, cuz im a do that."

eh
I see what you are saying but the D has to get off the field too. They got pretty well owned in the first half too, giving up 156 yards, 13/14 passing att/comp and 4-7 on third downs with 13 points allowed. That’s not particularly good either.
The second half runs have been more of a function of us losing than a function of other teams’ scheming. The basic plan for nearly ANY game is to score points, and with a lead start running the ball often. You just can’t do stuff like that if you are in a really close game or down by a bunch. Teams have been forcing us to be one dimensional by getting a big early lead, and our defense has failed to stop either the early lead or the second half run/tack on phase. So, while our offense IS failing to do its share by putting up points and keeping the game close, so to is the D failing at keeping the game close or stopping teams once they become one dimensional. Throw in poor kick coverage and punt coverage, and you’ve got three phases that are playing entirely poorly.

I don't know why we're so high on our secondary...
when Phyllis was playing pitch and catch in the first half. His only incompletion was a throw-away.

Don't forget
a lot of those 3rd and long situations are now 3rd and short. We have to make some stops. I just hope those redzone turnovers stop.

Thet have a TON of mistakes to look at
in the game film. They have to realize their mistakes before they can start fixing them.
