Moreno turning a corner?

Knowshon Moreno (KnowMo) appears to be getting better every game.  He played very well against San Diego and would of had a touchdown save for a fluke play where the ball hit our Offensive lineman's knee and caused a fumble.  And did you see him play last night!  He played lights out in my mind and looked like the running back he was at Georgia.  It was a pleasure to watch!

Star-divide

KnowMo seems to be improving in every aspect of his game.  He has greater vision, more patience when waiting to find the hole and hitting it and taking better care of the football.  He continues to do well catching the ball out of the backfield and is effective when in pass protection.  I love to see him running behind big Ryan Clady chewing up yards.  I know we have become a pass first offense but since we are THE DENVER BRONCOS my expectations as a fan are that we can run the ball well against any team.  That is who we are and that is what we do.  KnowMo is going to be a great back (especially running behind #78) for many years to come.  Love that spin move last night to allude to defenders that were in the backfield for a 7-8 yard gain.  I can't wait for his first 100+ yard, multiple touchdown game.  Its around the corner, I can feel it!

Moreno is coming around...he is gaining confidence along with the rest of the team.

I don’t agree that this is a pass first offense. IMHO the Denver Broncos are a running team. You know to eat up some of that clock, so our defense can get some rest.

I agree

… if we can run like THAT and keep the opposing offense from getting ANY kind of rythym well, why not?

I don’t agree that this is a pass first offense.

thank god for that ! leave that nonsense to teams like the Bears, or any of those other teams with, you know, ‘franchise QBs’

Pass First

I’d say that for the first eight games we were a pass first offense.

Since McD has now seen enough limitations within our offense against various different opponents, he proved last night that he wants and needs to establish the run, to force opposing defenses to stay honest. Hopefully, barring key injuries, he’ll keep it going, right into the playoffs.

You betcha

Forget the standard “rookies wear down as the year goes on”… this guy is a hoss and he’s getting better and stronger on every cary.

I hope Brian Dawkins rubs off on him and helps him channel that god given talent into a hunger and a display of running the likes of which we have never seen.

He is a physical specimen, a great kid, and can be something special…..

I am very impressed with this kid.

Moreno will soon be our feature back. I was not thrilled when they took him in the draft, but now I see why. I firmly believe that Knowshon will be something special, and in this offense, a good back is worth his weight in gold.

by Papamag on Nov 27, 2009 8:54 AM MST reply actions

And not San Diego's feature back

Keep in mind the word during the draft was that the Bolts were itching to take Moreno. Can you imagine Knowshon as LDT’s heir apparent. Yikes.

Moreno really played a nice game last night. That may have been the first game that he really looked like a #12 pick. I’m excited about this kid.

3rd down

I wish he had caught that short pass in a buble screen play, where he had two blockers ahead of him. I think it was a classic case of looking ahead before securing the ball.

If we get into the playoffs, he’ll have to do these little things right, or teams like the Ravens, Steelers, Patriots, or Colts will make him pay.

An interesting skill set

Earlier this season it seems that his concentration was too locked, causing a tightening of the perceptual field; he didn’t always choose the best cut or angle. He would compensate by doing a ‘road runner’, a flurry of churning and burning. In the NY game his vision opened up, he was reacting intelligently to the uniqueness of each run situation.

Last night you could clearly see him perceive the play unfold and then make a good, lightening quick decision and cut. In addition to good one cut and go skills you could see that he also has Barry Sanders type moves, and then his own unique flowing style of running where he can get his balance dramatically displaced and just flow back in to good balanced running again. Then when it’s time to get tackled he switches to a punish the tackler mode and falls forward for those crucial extra yards. Quite fun to watch.

Just another guy...on the lost highway.

Even when he had "road runner" moments last night, they turned into positive plays.

I recall a play where the broncos had the ball int he redzone and Moreno ran into the back of the line, stutter stepped a little bit, shifted to the left and found a hole for about a four yard gain. That is the stuff that excites me the most. He takes a broken play and turns it into a positive gain because of his remarkable vision. As long as the line holds and doesn’t get blown up into the backfield, Moreno is going to find an alley and get positive yards.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

It might be a little premature to drop the “BS-bomb”. lol.

Agreed that number 27 is looking good

hopefully he will continue to build on last nights game

by CockneyBronco on Nov 27, 2009 10:36 AM MST reply actions

I hope so, but I am not at the point where I see that he is quit there yet

He played his best game (IMO) on Thursday, I would still like to see him be able to dominate a game, right now he is good, but not a dominating back. I would like to see him be able to shread carry the ball 25 times and starting getting bigger runs late in the game, but definately encouraging steps, hopefully we see more imrovement next week.

Meh. I'll take a near 5-yard average

Every time. He had a couple nice runs called back last night, or else he gets his 100 yards. Not bad when you’re splitting carries.

Most impressive to me was the TD. At least on that play, he looked like he learned patience and wasn’t overanxious about hitting the line. He flowed nicely, found the hole, and went in. The zone block / stretch one cut run is perfect for this guy. He cuts on a dime and has exceptional vision. And better still, he marries those skills to a willingness to hit tacklers on that second level.

Hope he stays healthy.

Makings of a money back

Your perspective is right on Manter. Moreno is improving every game, partially due to improved run blocking, and he will have that multiple touchdown game. I can FEEL it too. I am amazed at the man’s ability to duck hits even while falling. His balance is phenomenal and coupled with leg strength is that rare combination of breakaway and power back.

It finally feels like our offense is opening up the down field portion of the offense which will open it up for the running game. Five games left and it won’t surprise to see the whole offense coming together. Mark my words our offense will carry the defense in one or more of the remaining games.

47-265-5.6

That’s KM’s stat line (rushing) the last 3 games. I’d say he’s on his way.
