Everyone take a Deep Breath....
We all realize that prior to Baltimore we were 6-0, riding a wave of Orange and Blue euphoria. You had probably told your fellow football fans at work, the bar, or just walking down the street about it. I like the classic point to the hat move or the subtle mention of record (6-1 still has a nice ring to it).
This season has been such a high for me personally because it was unexpected. I was resigned to the fact that we might win the West, but by the skin of our teeth, if at all. I was ready for a 7, 8, or 9 win season. There is no way I would have predicted this start and I’m usually the guy telling my friends, family, and strangers how good Denver will be this season (whichever season it is) and why they’ll be good.
Denver is one of the best teams in the NFL right now; Fact.
They came out flat Sunday in Baltimore. This is not a venue where you can expect to come out flat and expect to win a football game against a ravenous (not raven-ous) football team like the Ravens were. But the over-dramatic conclusions about the performance, personnel and coaching are a tad premature if not unwarranted.
Orton looked bad, OL looked like a riprap sieve, and the WR’s looked like they were stuck to the purple people. The officiating was terrible, the play calls were questionable, and we are pretty lucky this game wasn’t worse (see almost blocked punt on the 20 and multiple picks off the D’s hands).
We needed this loss.
This is where we learn what we really have in our Hooded Prodigy. It’s obvious we have the personnel to win against top tier teams in the NFL, the difference is coaching.
I haven’t lost a bit of confidence in this team. All they have to do is stay ahead of San Diego and everything else will take care of itself.
Our D is legit and we are all familar with that old moniker about Championships right?
Give the team a pass this week, if it becomes a familiar conversation then we can revisit it.

Fact: Bears eat beets.
Good post. I agree…………mostly. “Our D is legit and we are all familar with that old moniker about Championships right?” Was that a championship prediction?
I think we need to chill out a little bit on the championship talk until we have made the playoffs, at least. I’d like to see us finish out the season, first. We can cross that bridge when we get to it.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

i just meant
Defense wins Championships. Don’t mistake that for me predicting a SuperBowl win.
I’m excited that our Young team is playing so well. If we can just sign some sensible contracts, develop our DB’s, LB’s and DL I feel like we have a damn fine team for years to come.

Okay. I read it as a little underhanded prediction. Thanks for the clarification.
I’d like to recant my statement earlier where I said “I agree………mostly.” I now agree completely. Good post and recd.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I'm not as confident against teams with physical defenses.....
Orton doesn’t handle pressure well…luckily we only face three more truly physical defenses this regular season so I have us pegged winning at least one of those to go 13-3

This comes back to...
The coaches making adjustments. Maybe Daniel G stays in and helps the OL instead of having another WR in the route. I dont know, or maybe they beef up the OL via competion.

Not shocked we lost
It happens. I can only think of one super bowl team that never lost a game. If there were more than that, please remind me lol. In fact, coming into last weekend, I said to myself I would be ecstatic if we were 8-1 coming out of Washington. The odds of going through the guantlet of weeks 4-10 without a single loss were rediculous. We get out of Washington 8-1, we are sitting pretty.
Even if we do lose 3 more games(Philly, Indy, Pitt?), the chargers are 4-3 right now, with their next three opponents: At NYG, Philly at home, at Denver. With Dallas and Cinci in the wings. I can’t imagine a world where they are better than 10-6 come seasons end. And for us to accomplish worse than that, we would have to have a monumental collapse(knock on wood!!).
The most annoying part about bandwagon jumpers, is they always seem to find their way back after a big win. Their short term memory is really bad, and somehow they convince themselves they were never off the wagon to begin with. But we know. Oh yes. We know.
GO BRONCOS!
