13-3 a must!
I apologize if anyone views this post as redundant, much of what I have to say has been well covered on this site. But in my opinion the Broncos really need to get to that 13-3 record in order to be one of the great NFL teams this year. Of course, most Broncos fans would have been thrilled with 8-8 before the season (even if some serious Kool-Aid drinkers-looking in the mirror here-won't admit that anymore).
As a fan, I have the luxury of looking ahead on the schedule and looking past some teams. Of course the players and coaches have no such luxury, they must take this one game at a time and take every opponent seriously or risk losing to a terrible team. I believe this Broncos team will not make those mistakes, but I am a fan, so I can do whatever I want!
At 6-1 right now, there are 4 games left against teams a fan like me can look past. Washington, KC twice, the Raiders are all terrible. I know that the Raiders beat the Eagles and the Chiefs took Dallas to overtime, but if the Broncos do their jobs right (and they will) these are wins. That leaves another 5 games on the schedule that the Broncos have to keep close and try to find away to win: Pittsburgh, San Diego, Giants, Indy, and Philly. Win the ones we're supposed to and take a majority of these (3 out of 5) and we are at 13-3. So while 11-5 would have seemed an impossible giddy dream a few months ago to some, for me the expectations have gone up a bit with success! Remember all those Shanahan coached teams that looked decent in the regular season, but went nowhere come playoff time? That was a bummer. That said, even 11-5 (only 1 out of 5 of the good games) would still get us to the playoffs and be something to build on for years to come. I just don't think an 11-5 Broncos team gets much done in the playoffs this year. A 13-3 or even 12-4 team is set up and loaded to win it all.
So here's to rooting for the Broncos, one game at a time, win or lose you guys are my team! 13-3 until we ain't!

I was an 8-8 guy
New quarterback, new coach, new system. Yeah I was an 8-8 guy. I will admit it. But now, total 13-3 guy. I have never been this amped up for a broncos team since the Elway years. Go Denver
Embrace the other side, become the animal.
I was an 11-5 guy
Now, I’m thinking nothing less than 12-4 with a first round bye will suffice.

then you have to look at each game one at a time, like they are playoff games. We have to, don’t have to win every game from here on out. Plan each game as if you are facing a playoff foe and think, if we lose this one we go home. Not looking past the Steelers because this game is very important at home and we need to win it.13-3 Baby!!!
I was
one of the ones that just wanted to feel like we had a good team, and a good chance going into the game. Enough of enduring the gut feeling that we were undone even before kickoff in games against good teams (Colts, Patriots, even Dolts), then worried about a letdown against teams we should have beaten easily (KC, Oakland anyone?). Feel that way, and 8 and 8 would have been just fine. Now, my hopes and expectations are a bit higher (12-4, please), but still based on needing to feel in my gut we are going the right direction.
As of now, wish granted. EVEN if we have trouble with the 5 listed teams……" wish granted " .. as long as we compete well. (I was proud of the D last week, but the O left them with an insurmountable task, IMO).
JD/X have shown a tremendous insight into selecting from the available talent pools, and has a solid scheme. The analysis of our team weaknesses was spot on, so I expect the same when he looks at this team (at the end of the season)…. the upgrades are going to be fascinating to watch. “Onward and upward” has already occurred, but the “baby steps” I expected have already become bounding strides, and it doesn’t feel to me as if we simply got ahead by sprinting at the beginning of a marathon. I think we are in the race for the long term, and I love it! Go Broncos!!
Well...
I actually see the same number of, but different specific, games that should be wins: Washington, Oakland, Kansas City and San Diego. Other than that, I see winnable games at Kansas City, New York and Philadelphia. I still think 11-5 is reasonable and very good, but I definitely see this team’s ceiling closer to 13-3 than ever before…
"A player who conjugates a verb in the first person singular cannot be part of the squad, he has to conjugate the verb in the first person plural. We. We want to conquer. We are going to conquer. Using the word 'I' when you're in a group makes things complicated." ~ Wanderley Luxemburgo, 1999

Agreed, homie
We need a first round bye and it’s not too early to start thinking about it either…as fans (as a player, it’s one game at a time).
Indy is likely going to hit the 12-15 win range this year, so if we don’t want to take a trip to that Dome (something that REALLY sucks), 13-3 is absolutely required at this point. New England isn’t exactly going to go away either and could hit 12 wins.
Will I be sad if they get to 11-5 and make the playoff without a bye? No? But playing at Mile High is the path to glory.
