Monday Night No-Huddle
I've been thinking a lot about this pivotal game against the Steelers Monday. I have read several articles discussing how the Steelers could/should go with the no-huddle offense, like the Ravens did, and keep the Broncos on their heels unable to rotate their D players. Now I'm guessing Coach McD has been preparing for this scenario, but here's my GRAND idea...the Broncos should surprise the Steelers by running the no-huddle! Think about it, get Orton & the offense into a good rhythm early, perhaps put some points on the board in the first quarter and begin the inevitable process of wearing down the Steelers defense in the Mile High air. If I had Coach McD's cell number!
Go Broncos! 7-1 and having fun!

Great call!
Good article – and one which I reckon will get most of our votes! Given the defensive losses the Steelers face this week (Timmons, and possibly Clark with his sickle cell anaemia), the no huddle could certainly cause confusion – particularly in the pass coverage – in a defense that won’t be used to playing together. It might also be a great way to wear down their D-line – especially Casey Hampton, who I see as being a major obstacle in the way of a Broncos win.
That said, no huddle can also confuse the offense, and we don’t want to slow down our offense anymore than the speed with which it has been operating at to date. If Ryan Harris was in, I’d be more inclined to give it a go, but remember, this will be Tyler Polumbus’s first start, and blocking assignments could very easily get blown, or false starts become more frequent. And the usual defensive response to a no huddle is to overload on the blitz packages – probably something the Broncs and Mr Polumbus will be keen to avoid.
So I see a steady dose of Buckhalter and Moreno to be honest, but I certainly think we may well see a few more wrinkles in the offensive sets as a result of the disappointment of last week – and that might well include the no huddle. Broncs 24-14…..I hope!!

I like your idea
Do to them as they intend to do to you. Why wait for the inevitable when you can press the issue first? I’m on board with whatever it takes for our offense to catch fire in the first half; the 3rd down conversions have to improve.
We can’t continue playing this close to the vest for the rest of the season.

I'm on board with what your thinking, but I'm not worried about our offense,
I want to know how McDaniels expects to counter the Steelers’ no-huddle. I’m a little nervous about it.

I was thinking the same thing
I hope we have something to throw the Steelers off a bit. I am waiting for a fast start to a game this year. This would be the perfect time.

With the Wildhorse
Start the game with the wildhorse and no huddle. That would get the Steelers defense thinking.

Tomlin should be worried about
Oline with the no huddle. They will wear down fast and that will just help our D get more pressure. If we dont stop Heath Miller we will be in trouble!

100% agree
I mentioned in another post Denver should go no huddle but not hurry up. Keep the defenders on the field and take full advantage of the altitude. Steelers are beat up on D-line and if kept on the field all game will be huffing and puffing come the 4th quarter. No huddle also plays to Orton’s skill set. He is not the fastest, nor does he have the strongest arm but he is one of the smarter guys out there. Let him stand on the line and quick snap if they try to substitute, if not take his time and get everybody lined up right.

I like the idea in spot duty.......
But not as a whole. There’s a reason teams don’t play no-huddle all the time even though it seems to work very well. Time of possession is a huge stat in games, and no-huddle kills you there. We want to wear down their defense, but no-huddle shortens our drives and keeps our D on the field.
As long as we’re sustaining drives it’s all good, but a 3-out or close means our defense gets very little rest on the sidelines……
