Seriously

I want to bite my tongue because I’m a homer but they are calling literally nothing against them. That was a late hit. They are holding on offense constantly. Late hits. Facemasks. Nada.

Good game guys. Hard fought. Hope you do well against Washiington next week.

BUT…if you want to AT ALL whine about calls, be fair, and whine about Harrison and other Steelers D-linemen & LB’s getting undressed on the line. Holding is being perfected tonight…again…on harrison and Woodley. Just saying…You mentioned not wanting to be a homer & all. ;)

Only difference between last year and this:

Last year – defense constantly hanging the offense out to dry and forcing them to keep up

Boydy,I stand by my analysis of Berger vs. Kern

But it was based on historical performance.

So right now it does look bad. Over the course of a season, I’m hoping the long term trends continue.

However, your argument about just not jinxing an undefeated team, it’s a good point.!

This is NOT meant as an excuse for losing this one

because there are too many other reasons but the officiating in this game has been AWFUL. They have literally missed about 10 calls on the Steelers that I’ve seen alone. They just missed an obvious forward pass deflection. They have not flagged the Steelers for anything. It’s been awful.

AGAIN, that is not meant as an excuse for other things that have gone wrong. Tip your hats to the Steelers in a lot of ways. But they’re too good a team to also be given an advantage like this.

Spot on assessment.

Why does McD only go for the cute dink & dunks, and let your awesome vertical threats at WR die on the vine?

Because he’s a Belicheck/Patriots disciple. The Kings of Dink/Dunk. He’d rather have Orton over Cutler. Cutler would have been DYING to get out of Denver after 5 games under McD.

Trust me…you have a strange set up that’s worked for some reason. Mainly, because Orton has been good with the ball. But the power running + zone blocking – vertical passing threat = breakdown waiting to happen.

by Broncoholic_07 on Nov 9, 2009 9:40 PM MST up reply actions

Read through my posting again

I never said the season was lost. I was being Critical of this team. If you think they played good tonight you are blind. If you can not take people being critical about this team then leave. People do not need to be positive all the time. Yes some people are being negative but they have every right to be after the way this team played tonight and you have no right to question them and tell them not to come back and say positive things if we are winning in 2 weeks against SD. We as fans have every right to get emotional, be upset when the team is bad and be ecstatic when the team plays great.

The Truth is the Offense played terrible tonight and only scored 3 points. I do not care if it is the best D in the league the Offense the the right players and should be better then that. The D played good most of the game but gave up a ton of yards in the second half. Our punter was awful and its time to bring in someone new. Orton looked really bad tonight. Yes the interior Oline is not so good but orton made some bad decisions

by gnarlybroncodude on Nov 9, 2009 9:49 PM MST up reply actions

I agree

With the fact that the offense was bad tonight. Completely agree. But, telling me to leave because I get tired of people cutting down OUR TEAM is ridiculous. Yeah, offense looked bad. They’ll work on getting it together. I don’t like to sit here and read people bashing our team and saying how bad we are and then they’re going to follow that up when we make the playoffs and say how great we are. I have no doubt you are a fan, and that’s why you get upset, but take it all in before blowing the team up.

by Broncoholic_07 on Nov 9, 2009 9:54 PM MST up reply actions

Yah and can we all agree that

there is a difference, as Guru has pointed out here before, between just bashing the team incessantly without any reality or fairness behind it, and openly criticizing aspects that are worrisome, like punting or RB blocking and that sort of thing? i.e., I would like to see people be fair, be positive when the team deserves it, try to keep the faith, while we also should allow criticism when it comes from a place of reality and fairness.

Would that be a fair way to say it? People who keep making the same negative points over and over again, that really burns me up. But posters should also be allowed to criticize or worry, if DONE RATIONALLY. Just my 2 cents.

The sky isn’t falling. It’s just that we have been outmatched by a very physical football team. Going against the Ravens and steelers back to back is tough. They are two very physical football teams. We are 6-2, which is a great record. We still get to play the redskins and chiefs twice and the raiders once. We get the chargers again, as well. If we win those games, that’s 11. That gets us in the playoffs. That isn’t asking a lot.

The last two weeks are by far the two most physical weeks we will have to play all season.

So, chill out, everyone. This season is far from over.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Agreed. We aren't that far from the playoffs. We have gone through the meat of our schedule and have done better than anyone anticipated.

Bad loss today. McDaniels didn’t learn anything from last weeks loss. Pitt did pretty much the same thing on D as Baltimore and McDaniels had not counter moves.

Orton is not being asked to attack the defense. Those 3rd and 10 WR screens are tough to watch.

Really really disappointed in Moreno. He is a liability right now. Can’t run the ball and can’t pick up the blitz. There is a good reason why I think we should look at Larry Johnson because Moreno is playing poorly.

Berger is a joke. Nothing more needs to be said. No mas. Throw in the towel and sign a real punter McDaniels.

I’m not sure we can beat a team with a top 10 D because our O has scored 10 total points in 8 quarters of football vs a good D. We didn’t score much vs Cincy either.

Our O is not getting better with more playing experience. It looks a little worse.

Steelers have a tough and complicated def, especially since they have troy back and u saw his impact this game. This team has tons of potential and even if they may not go to the SB this year, they can only get better and go further. Plus two bad games doesn’t mean the end of the world. the broncos lost to two tough def, and i will say mcdaniels and the offense will make changes. Plus a few eeks ago orton was great ,now he has a rough stretch everyone wants him gone. What i’m saying is ur team is goddamn good, especially on def for the first half. i agree with the fact that ur offense is playing way to conservatively right now

There’s nothing wrong with dinking and dunking, look at the pats offense most of the time it’s short underneath routes. The problem i see now is that unlike the pats bronco’s don;t try to stretch the field at times, like the pats do. but remember this is orton’s first year in the bronco’s offense, and going long to a reciever requires trust and precision. Yes i noe about orton’s noodle arm, but he still can make some decent throws down field. I’m sure after 2 games McDaniels will change it up. usually the first time an offense gets shut down they don’t move too much away form the original game plan since it has orked b4 so they might feel it’s aone time thing, but now since it happened it again expect them to change it up. McDaniels was good at this in NE and i doubt he’ll stop suddenly in devner.

And NutBag, I know you’re just buttsore from the loss, but keep your sack of opinions to yourself regarding another person’s hometown. Especially one you have never been to. And don;t lie…seriously…don’t come back and say you’ve been.

Grow up and get some class.

As a nearly-lifelong Broncos fan, I have to say that Steelers and Broncos fans have A LOT in common … they are die-hard, committed and both travel well. My wife is a Steelers fan, so she had fun watching the game tonight. I did not.

I’ve lived in Pittsburgh, and it’s a wonderful city. I lived in Western PA for about 25 years and now live in Columbus, Ohio. I was born a Browns fan, but became a Broncos fan to have something in common with my father, who started rooting for them in the early 60s when they were awful.

58, I admire your passion, but you need to tone down your rhetoric a little bit.

Choking on Kool-Aid are we?

9-7 and on the outside looking in on the playoffs. After acing the first part of the gauntlet, we are failing the second part. Got our butts whooped in the Nevermore, we got whooped at home by the Steelers.

The defense is definitely improved, but man that offense is for the dogs. Where is the deep threat?

by shanahanigans on Nov 9, 2009 9:35 PM MST reply actions

We beat

Washington, KC (2), Oakland, and SD or NYG at home. Minimum of 11-5

by Broncoholic_07 on Nov 9, 2009 9:37 PM MST up reply actions

I wouldn't bet that.

We finda a way to split with KC (it is in KC and it is past the point at which we win in KC). Given tonight, we find a way to make the Giants look good, too and I’m thinking SD looks mighty different in two weeks.

Let’s suppose Washington, KC, Oakland. That’s 9. If we knock off SD, the division is ours. If we don’t we are looking up the playoff landscape.

by shanahanigans on Nov 9, 2009 9:42 PM MST up reply actions

If we can't sweep KC

Then we don’t deserve to go to the playoffs. In all honesty. They lost to Oakland in KC. They are really bad, and have very little talent.

Theres a reason Pitt is defending champs

we looked good to start…they adjusted and shut down what was working, we failed to adjust…we lose. That’s what great teams do. Take a hit, then dish it back and don’t get hit by the same punch. That’s what they did. We’re 6-2 and still in control. But there are disturbing signs that if not adressed, will be exploited and we will unravel quickly.

Orton is a good QB, but just didnt have his game today. he was asked to deal with no run game and bad pass protection, and bad blitz pick ups by knowshon. i dont see why we went away from the 6 lineman formation.

as for the defense. this D gave it all they got until they broke. they were just gassed because of the ineffiecient offense. need a pash rush though.

i dont care if orton doesnt have a super strong arm. OPEN UP THE PLAY BOOK. TAKE A SHOT DOWN FIELD!!! that also falls on the oline to block long enough tho…

different strategy, same result

i was impressed with orton getting rid of the ball quicker with some nice slants. at some point early in the game though, don’t you let orton throw it deep, just so the defense knows thats in our playbook. steelers def. just kept crowding closer to the line taking away a chance at running the ball.

How did an 8-8 team land such a brutal schedule?

Patriots, Colts, Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, Ravens, Eagles?

Wait 'til next millennium!
