Call me a fair weather fan
What I love most about this venue is the positive views shared by the community. Back during the preseason, I depended on you guys when the rest of the online community was calling for a losing season. But enough is enough.
Two, we need to throw the ball downfield. I'm not saying Kyle Orton can't do it, but he isn't doing it. I don't necessarily blame this on McDaniels' play-calling - if his days in New England taught us anything, is that he likes to use the short pass to set up the deep ball. I'm not giving up on Kyle Orton - I liked him before, I like him now, but I'll tell you this - I wouldn't expect a big contract in his future. Maybe a two year, incentive-based contract, but if he is the future - we'll need more time to decide for sure. In the mean time - I expect a 2008 Dolphins-like season if we keep playing like this, maybe a 2008 Ravens-like season if we fix some of our problems. Either way, I wouldn't be shocked if Tom Brandstater isn't at least competing for consideration in 2010.

Orton was pathetic
Orton’s 3 interceptions were pathetic, and the whole offense fell apart. The Broncos running game produced 27 yards.
The only consolation from this pathetic meltdown was that it was against the current
champion Steelers. Mendenhall put up 155 yards.
Then there was another interception by Polmalu.
The Broncos offense needs a wake up call. The run defense was also lousy, and
Dawkins, and Bailey were both beat on TD throws.

"Pathetic"?
When he had time and a pocket, he hit just about every throw.
He had no running game; this led to consistent second and 10-11s; the Steelers defended the screen game; and they got consistent interior pressure.
Orton is not the kind of QB that wins those kinds of games. But had he had a running game, that contest looks a whole lot different.

I don't get it. You call 11-5 and freak out when we lose to the steelers?
This wasn’t one of your five???
I don’t understand why people are freaking out right now. We are 6-2 and have beaten some good teams. We got beat by very physical football teams. It happens. Moving on. We will still go 11-5.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

yeah I don't either
There goes your hopes for the superbowl? Really, you were thinking superbowl preseason and back-to-back losses and you’re done? I stopped reading after that.
I gotta get off these posts where the sky is falling.

Just a couple thoughts from a Steeler fan...
I thought this was the toughest game remaining on the Steeler schedule and, for a half, the Broncos played an excellent game. They controlled the ball, they kept Pittsburgh from converting third owns and they took away Roethlisberger’s favorite receivers, Ward and Heath Miller.
I still think Denver is a good team because, despite the problems in the second half tonight, the Broncos have a lot of very good players in key positions.
As for what happened in the second half, obviously everyone will talk about Orton and the picks and perhaps a few plays that Roethlisberger made, but really, the Steelers ran the ball extremely effectively and Denver didn’t run hardly at all.
Best of luck for the rest of the season and thanks for handing the Bengals that opening week defeat.

you are who we thought you were…defending Super Bowl champions !

I'm not freaking out KB
I said after the Dallas game, that if we went 2-2 against New England, San Diego, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh I’d be very happy. I am very happy, but after getting spoiled with the 6-0 start, a lot of us – especially myself – were talking about how far we can go this season. What I’m simply saying is that, while we’re still in great shape, we need to fix these problems to compete down the stretch.
My comments on Orton are valid. I like him, but if he doesn’t stretch the field more we can’t possibly expect him to be our guy in 2010, 2011, etc. Our defense played too well tonight to be worn out by ineffective offense. I don’t think saying that makes me a bad fan or somebody who is overly panicked.

I feel the same way.
Not panicking, just concerned about how our offense has been lately. We have a good solid defense to keep us in the game til our offense gets things going. They had plenty of time to do so, especially in the first half. They are in a rut and need to get out of it quickly. You and many others are right in stretching the field. We need to start going deep every now and then.
I didn’t expect us to be 6-2 halfway through the season, so I am happy about that. Tonight was our time to respond to a loss and we failed. One offensive TD in two weeks is pathetic.

Honestly, I don't think it's as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be.
Frankly, we played against two of the best defenses that this league has to offer. Of course, we are going to look foolish on offense against them. We played the steelers a lot closer than I believed we would. I predicted a 17-14 loss, so I am not all that surprised. This is one game that I didn’t expect us to win, but I’m glad we played like we did. The first half was all us, except the scoreboard.
So, I’m encouraged. We CAN move the ball on a really great defense. Scoring would have been nice, but again, that’s what tough defenses do. We’ll go back to the drawing boards if we end up playing Baltimore or Pittsburgh again. I don’t feel we will have problems with the other defenses on our schedule, though.
We’ll be fine.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

LOL @ thinking this Bronco team could win the superbowl
Come on sir, that’s just as awkward as saying they’d go 3-13

I was gonig to do a post but I don't need to
the Broncos are 6-2 when I thought they would be 4-4. I think thought we would win 2 with KC 1 with Oak one with SD and wash which woudl have been 9-4 I thought that we would lose to indy philly and NYG for a 9-7 record this year.
We have work to do but dont give up hope!

If anyone had us beating the Steelers and Ravens before season start I would be amazed
If anyone thought we would honestly be 6-2 half way in I would be just as amazed. I find it hard to be too disapointed that we lost to the Super Bowl champs of last year, who when firing on all cylinders like they were in the second half are a very, very good team. I would rather lose games to good teams like the Steelers and Ravens, then get blown out buy crap teams like the Raiders and Chiefs last year. This team this year is so far above the team last year it is amazing.
