Around SBN: New media and the Loss of Sportsmanship

Calm Down Everyone!

As angry as I am about the Broncos' performance, we need to remind ourselves that this team is 6-2.  We all got upset when the old media wrote these guys off and then they started respecting Denver again.  What did it get this team?  Nothing!

Denver lost to the top two AFC teams from last year.  That is not horrible.  I'll hit the panic button if we lose to the Missouri indians or the conquered fader nation.  This team is still learning to win and this offense is running on two of the needed eight cylinders for the engine to run right.

Moreno got exposed as a rookie.  He needs to learn to block and get some longer cleats.  I saw a lot of slipping out there.  Ben Hamilton is not cutting it now.  I'm not sure what the line is trying to do, but some zone blocking may help out.  Orton did his best Jay Cutler impression too.  The mistakes were deadly and must be cleaned up ASAP.

Don't think that Pittsburgh is out of the woods in thier return quest for glory.  They have to contend with Cincy and Baltimore.  Denver on the other hand gets to contend with Phyllis and his merry men in the west.

Time for Denver to keep working and improving and let all the old media and bandwagon folks hop off.  The sun comes up tomorrow despite us being in a nasty mood.  It is a long way to the top.  Hang in there.  GO Broncos!

I was pissed tonight...

Mostly thanks to the creeping sense of deja vu that I’m getting that I articulated to my diehard-fan parents.

I still have faith though. We only lose to the colts on the rest of the year to finish up 13-3.

Because Montana has no professional sports, I gotta support the land of my birth.

Socrates was once executed for 'trolling'.
^Needs explaining: don't call someone asking uncomfortable, slightly antagonistic questions trolls. In all odds they probably just want to learn. It's real easy to differentiate a 'Socratic' post from a trolling one (unless you're a resident of WCG).
^Needs further explaining: I have yet to post anything on WCG, don't worry, I'm not trying to rationalize anything I've done. I've just lurked over there and man, they are the model of post-peloponnesian war Athens.

Good piece

We have a loss to the SB winners (who may get back there if they can solve Cincy) and a very fired up Ravens team at home. So?

The team had one offseason. If folks got ahead of themselves as the season started, that’s fine. We weren’t going to the SB this year. We’re still not, but we have looked very good a lot more than we’ve looked bad. The Broncos are far ahead of where the same folks who are out committing seppuku (hara kiri) tonight thought that they would be. I’m getting whiplash, watching people jump on and off the bandwagon. Quite a sight…

The team is doing fine. We need to do better on the O line – and it might take another offseason to fix all of the issues. To be honest, that puts us where I hoped we’d be, not where I’m unhappy that we are.

We're not a playoff threat, but...

We’re so far ahead of where I thought we’d be I can’t be too upset. NYG beats us because we have no vertical threat. Philly beats us because they can replicate the A gap pressure. The Colts beat us because we can’t Blitz. Depending on the matchup in the first round, we could get bounced. I’d say 11-5 will not get us a bye, and I could see a matchup against another AFC Central team— that will create problems.

Still, as a rebuilding (or expansion as a lot folks like to call it) team, you cannot argue with the bare minimum of an 8-8 season. We’ll be A LOT better next year.

You can't blame this on Orton! Sorry, it won't fly.

If you don’t have a running , then they are going to stick it to you. It isn’t Kyle’s fault, so whoever says that doesn’t know anything about football. McDaniels has to have a running attack for Kyle to be successful and his blocking scheme isn’t working. Coaching is the problem at the moment, not Kyle.
