"In their past three games in Indianapolis, the Colts have averaged -- averaged -- 43 points against Denver, and try beating that with Kyle Orton, Brandon Marshall and Knowshon Moreno. It won't happen." Well, since the 2009 Broncos are complected exactly as they had been over the previous seven years, this makes absolute sense. Right, Clark? I'm not predicting a Denver victory myself, but it's not because of prior visits to Indy.

SI - Bengals-Vikings - Adam Duerson

I’m mostly concerned with the Colts beating us, then resting their regulars next week against Jacksonville. If Jacksonville can beat Miami this week and the Ravens can win out…

The 4 game slide has caused us to be more in a win now mode.

Winning one or two of the games we lost would have been a lot better for us, now we can’t take anything for granted. If we lose 2 of the next 4 games and these other teams win out we could be going home on Jan 4th. We have to win now and the team knows it.

Key to game

The Broncos have opportunity to do the biggest thing they need to do to have a chance against Peyton Manning: hurry him.

This from that Indy Star piece:

The Colts could have issues in their offensive line Sunday. Starting Ts Charlie Johnson (foot) and Ryan Diem (hamstring) and top backup Tony Ugoh (hip) all were listed as questionable on the injury report. Johnson didn’t play last week but practiced Thursday and Friday, as did Ugoh. Diem missed both workouts. The only other tackle on the roster is fourth-year player Michael Toudouze, who re-signed Wednesday

Now, this could end up meaning nothing if the players the Colts have starting do play a great game, and/or if the Broncos D doesn’t do their job. But it’s an opportunity to get at Manning. Bring the rush, Nolan.

And thanks as always Doug.

Nolan/McD know the Colts pretty good and will have a great plan I suspect.

I believe we will show a lot of blitz packages and may not necessarily use them but to keep pressure on Manning. If we blitz constantly then Manning will readjust to it and beat the snot out of us. It is imparitive that we disguise every play on defense not letting him change the play at the line of scrimmage. Confusion is the key to success with Peyton and holding Clark in to block or faking him in to block would keep him out of most plays letting our DB’s match up with Wayne and Garcon. Addai is another weapon we must contain. The Broncos defense did a tremendous job against Eli manning and the Giants holding Jacobs to be nonessential, plus Manningham didn’t have much space either, nor did Boss. The Broncos defense can win this game for us and if they stay focused even if they make a couple of mistakes and keep pressure on Manning we win.

Well detailed, thanks

I think he’ll break it down about that way. Disguising will be key, as you say.

Now of course, again, Manning is so good it could all be for naught even if they game plan perfectly right. But I trust Nolan and co. to at least plan properly…. fingers crossed.

Aye-curumba

Manning leads the league in passing with 3,685 yards. The Broncos have faced the Patriots’ Tom Brady (second), the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (sixth), the Cowboys’ Tony Romo (seventh), the Chargers’ Philip Rivers (eighth), the Giants’ Eli Manning (11th) and the Ravens’ Joe Flacco (12th).
