Horse Tracks 12/2/09 - Harris returns to practice; Prater named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

DB - Preparing for the Chiefs’ Playmakers - Chris Gentilviso
"I am going to just make sure that I apologize to anybody that was offended by the language that I used the other night on the sidelines during the (New York Giants) game," McDaniels said. "I certainly didn’t intend for that to come across in that fashion and would hope that that never happens again. I’ll try my best to make sure that it doesn’t from my end, but anybody who was offended by that, young or old, I know that’s not the kind of example that I want to set or that we want to set here with the Broncos organization. I would ask people to accept that apology for that incident."
DP - RT Harris returns to practice - Lindsay Jones
"In addition to Harris, several other players who have missed either practice or game time recently were back at practice, including WR Eddie Royal (thigh), RB LaMont Jordan (neck), DT Marcus Thomas (shoulder), CB Ty Law (hamstring). The only player absent from Tuesday’s practice was linebacker Wesley Woodyard, who suffered a neck injury against the Giants."

I can't say I agree with this...I'm happy Orton is our QB this year, he's doing a very good job; but I would never, ever put him in the same class as the guys listed. QB rating may not be perfect, but it's one of the better measures out there.

Sad to hear about Elam. It will be interesting if he decides to retire if we will sign him for a day for him to retire here. I would like to see it done, but I dont know if the new FO has the sentiment for it to happen.

Elam was a rock
for us for years. I like this idea :-)
Opinions are like......, Well anyway, this is mine.
Interesting...
Yesterday, I thought he might sign on with a new team and continue his career, but after reading that AP article, it sounds like he’s ready to call it a career. And on further reflection, given all his non-football interests (writing, flying, safari-ing), it’s not too surprising afterall.
If it is the end, what a career it was! Thanks for all the memories, Jason!
Good news from the injury front!
Hopefully Woodyard comes along this week, and the boys are virtually at full strength this week.

Thanks Mr. Doug,

"I just looked across the huddle to see the guys in the huddle with me: great offensive line, great talent at wide receiver, great tight ends, great running backs. If we execute and play the way that we should, it should be tough to stop us."

Thanks Doug. Good morning.
I’m super excited about Harris coming back to practice. I’m sure Orton is even more excited than I am, too.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.
haha most certainly, KB!
Here’s to the Broncos getting healed up and ready for the final stretch!

I love the injury news
too and hope Wood-Yard is back in action soon.
I’m still worried this is a “trap” game for Denver, especially given their history in KC in December. But I’m sure they and the coach are aware of all that.
I wish the Raiders were playing Pitt in Oakland on Sunday, because then it’d be blacked out and I could see the Bronco game on TV. ;-)

This is just another reason to love Pat Bowlen and the Bronco Organization.
Thank you Pat for being the best owner in the NFL. Now that needs to be on a billboard in Denver.

If our defense decides to play the way they played against the Giants, then nobody can beat us. I want to know how bad they really want it. Bailey and Dawkins are in the sunset of their careers and this year or next may be the twilight to end out their fastastic run. I sincerely hope they suck up as much enegy that they can for this final drive and hurt teams the way they are capable of. Just do their job and not worry about what the offense is doing. There is still pride in winning a close (9-6) game. That has been our achilles heel, falling behind and can’t get up.
Good news
Update on Woodyard from the DP’s Lindsay Jones on Twitter:
Woodyard was back at practice after missing Tuesday.
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants country, and damned proud of it.
And confirmed by Frank Schwab
of CSG via Twitter as well:
Woodyard returned to practice today. Dawkins didn’t practice. That hasn’t been unusual for Dawkins to sit out Wednesday this season.
(And you’re welcome! ;-) )
