Whenever Jim Mora Sr. (who in my opinion is one of the biggest jerks to ever coach in the NFL) appears on NFL Network, I'm always reminded of his infamous PLAYOFFS rant. While playoffs are fun and indispensable in terms of determining a champion in a particular sport, they have not departed from us this season.
I appreciate T.J. Johnson's take about deluding ourselves into thinking we can make the playoffs and there is a method to his madness ERRRR brilliance. The trick is to focus positively.
When Kenny "The Jet" Smith of TNT talks about teams facing 3-1 deficits in the NBA playoffs coming back, he often speaks about what his Houston Rockets did when placed in such dire straits. Among Smith's words "deluding ourselves into thinking we could come back."
This is what the Broncos can and must do. When I was a senior at Manti (Utah) High School, I served as the kicker on our football team. While the local MSM in Utah thought we didn't stand a buffet's chance with Delta Burke in line of winning a state championship, we overcame the odds and I was a major impetus on the first state title we'd ever won.
Obviously, adhering to the MSM is not our problem. I believe the absence of Correll Buckhalter was, though. With a healthy Buckhalter, we are able to put Moreno in more positions where he can excel.
As for intangibles, I believe we match up fairly well with the Eagles and Chiefs. Much like doing a homework assignment, you have to do your story problems one at a time. Before you know it, you've accomplished that evening's assignment and are ready for the next challenge.
I know that Brian Dawkins will not let this team falter. We've overcome too much naysaying and spurious blather to quit now. Things are looking up for us and I think we can prepare for realistic championship aspirations next season by procuring a wild card berth this season.
We are flawed, but so is every team. Peyton Manning, despite being the G.O.A.T. quarterback in my opinion, throws interceptions from time to time. Until we prove differently, we are legitimate playoff contenders.
Thus, let's keep the faith and skin some Iggles Sunday. GO BRONCOS!!!
