Playoff picture for the Broncos

It's time to rally the troops and see what this team is made of.  Very simple to start, we win out and we're in as either the 5th or 6th seed, most likely playing in order, SD or NE.   This is what we must do, the chance to prove all our doubters wrong.  Go out to Philly and TAKE IT.  Come home vs. KC and TAKE IT.

All of the other scenarios are confusing to say the least, but I've given it my best shot.  And this is assuming we win only one of the next two (against KC so our conference record will stand at 7-5).  Here's how we stack up against the other teams in the Wild Card race:

Star-divide

Baltimore -  Baltimore needs to win only one of two against either PIT or OAK and they are in.  If they lose out, they're out.

Pittsburgh - If they win out vs. BAL and MIA, they're in as they hold the head to head tiebreak.  If they lose one of the next two, they're out.  I hate to say it, but GO BALTIMORE!

***We really don't want PIT to win out, because then it is highly likely that PIT and BAL finish 9-7 and we lose both tiebreaks.

Jacksonville - If JAC loses to either NE or CLE, they're out.  If JAC wins out, we lose the conference tiebreak to them 8-4 vs. 7-5.

Tennesee - Even if TEN wins out, they still won't make it as their conference record will stand at 5-7.

Miami - If Miami loses one of two vs. HOU or PIT, they're out.  If MIA wins out, we are tied in conference record at 7-5 and our record vs. common teams is tied at 2-3.  Next comes strength of victory.  Denver wins here .468 to .454

NYJ - If NYJ loses one of two vs. IND or CIN, they're out.  If they win out, we are tied with conference record at 7-5.  However, they will beat us on common opponents 4-1 vs. 3-2.  They have a huge uphill battle @ IND or home vs. CIN, but they hold the tiebreaker if they win out.

HOU - Even if HOU wins out, their conference record stands at 6-6 vs ours at 7-5.

GO BRONCOS!

We don't have a game to give

Win out – we prove we can overcome adversity – we set the tone for the playoffs - lose and we have reinforced the losing ways of the last couple months - win out or go home

Miami

Denver has a three game lead but the tie-breat depends upon the outcome of up to 14 games in which neither Miami nor Denver plays. So denver likely will have that tie-break but i wouldn’t give it to them just yet.

... if you have a belief, you will tend to find things that support it. But if you have a prejudice, you’ll move heaven and earth to maintain it. BroncoBear

I'm rooting for the Ravens!

But if we win out like we can and should we don’t have to worry about any of those teams. Just saying. Cincy is still fight for a #2 seed so we’ll see what happens there. I was sad they lost to SD but not as bad as our own lose.

I Like the Ravens

except when we’re playing them of course and I hate the Steelers so my cheering won’t be any different than it is any other week.

easy summary

Every team except Baltimore is out of the playoffs if they lose only one game, assuming we win one of the next two. So I’ll cheer for every team to lose except Baltimore (go Baltimore!) and we’re guaranteed that at least one of the other ones will lose next week due to HOU/MIA. Sweet!

Very simple breakdown that is understandable.

However if we make the playoffs we will face either CIN or NE ( or MIA/JETS if NE stumbles but I don’t think so) because SD most likely will get the #2 seed.

If we don't win out....

..I am not sure we are a viable playoff team. Good teams win games they must win…something we failed to do last weekend (and failed many times last season). If we can go in and beat a good Philly squad in their house and then beat KC at home, then that shows we are ready to assume a spot at the table among the best teams in the NFL…otherwise, depending on a bunch of tiebreakers and getting help from this team or that team just means we are not there yet…it can be summed up thusly: We control our own destiny (a good thing!)….we have two games to win and if we do so we are in the playoffs…in a very real sense, the Bronco playoff season starts this Sunday…

What if you don't know Jack....but Jack knows you?
