By beating us, the Raiders may have given us our best chance to win.

It's been a while since I've posted or commented on the site because I try to hold back during the season and save a lot for the off-season.  My brain can only handle so much stimulation (I write for a living so it's nice to not write sometimes) and watching the games and reading everybody's posts is enough; however, like many of you, losing to division rivals at home makes my typing finger itchy and I just need to write something.  Plus, I'm home for the holidays and while everybody else is shopping, I needed a way to kill time.

So as I was rummaging through the rubble left behind by the knowledge bomb that the Raiders just dropped on us, trying to find something, anything besides my own passion for this team to keep me going, I had one thought I'd like to share after the jump.

Star-divide

We've conceded the Philly game all season and we shouldn't have.

At the beginning of the season, the majority of folks didn't expect us to beat any good teams, so it's obvious why we were counted out. At 6-0,  it was too early to think about this game.  After a losing streak, most thought that 2 games against KC, 1 against Oakland, and 1 at Washington were gimmes and accepted that we could lose to the Eagles.  Then right before this past game, it was common to think that we could give up the Philly game because we were going to beat KC and Oakland to reach the playoffs.  Philly didn't matter.  I think even the team had these thoughts.

Now it matters.  Big time.  Yet, the majority (from what I've read) is still conceding this game.  Frankly, maybe this loss to the Raiders is a good thing because now we (and the team) have to take this game seriously.  We can't give up before it even starts just because it will be the most difficult game of the year for us.  If you're like me, you weren't really going to be into this next game if we won.  The team as well.  The Eagles could've run all over us and we wouldn't just shrugged our shoulders and said "If we beat KC next week, that's 10-6 and that's good enough."  Now we're going to be standing the whole game, screaming our heads off at the scream and our passion will be at its fullest.  I fully believe the team will  feel this way too.  If we're going to win, that's how we need to feel.

One thing I learn year in and year out is that W's and L's shouldn't be placed on the schedule until the game clock reads 0.

By beating us, the Raiders may have given us our best chance to win.

The Broncos have played their best this year when few believed in them.  We're at that point again.  The motivation is there.  The Broncos need to take it!

Just imagine if we were 0-14 right now

We would be a lock for the Super Bowl!

I also think that this team will be propelled to play better against Philly.

You’re right about all the points that you mentioned. I could care less if we lost to Philly if we had beaten Oakland. Hopefully we decide to show up this Sunday.

Good point

After beating Philly in a playoff-like atmosphere, the Broncos may get their swagger back.

Playoffs begin now...

I like your silver lining to that putrid loss on Sunday.

We now need to take the same path that the 2005 Steelers did when they won their last 4 regular season games to make it in as the #6 seed. Not saying we’re going to finish with the same result the Steelers did but it’s been done before.

I'll take my chances with a WIN, thank you!!!

Looks like you already put a W against KC yourself. Sounds pretty confident there.

I will go ahead and would of preferred to win in Oakland and take my chances with the Eagles with our low self esteem.

B-dawk will want to prove to his former team that they made a mistake

letting him go. No doubt about it our players will rally around him and play with passion in order to get the win for him. I hope it works.

You are absolutely right

W’s and L’s shouldn’t be placed on the schedule until the game clock reads 0.
