Horse Tracks 12/23/09 - No kidding - root for the Chargers, Patriots, Colts this week, hard as it may be

LTC - Denver’s déjà vu December - Brian Howell
"So, who should Bronco fans root for? For starters, go with San Diego (as hard as that might be). The Chargers could hand Tennessee a devastating loss Friday. Next, go with New England. The Patriots could knock out Jacksonville this week and Houston the following week (unless Miami takes care of the Texans this week). Broncos fans ought to also root for Indianapolis to get to 15-0; if it does, that means the Jets are done. Finally, the Broncos need Pittsburgh and Miami to each lose a game along the way (they play each other in the season finale). "

I've read several times over the past 24 hours from DP writers that Knowshon hasn't had a 100-yard game yet. Why in the world does that matter? They don't mention that he's topped 75 yards eight different times (and 90, twice), despite receiving 20+ carries only four times. His season-high carry total was 23 against the Colts. Like yesterday, I'm not claiming Knowshon is having a spectacular year or that he's been everything I'd hoped. But from what I've read since Sunday, you'd think the guy had 300 yards on the season. Yes, one can argue that Buck has a much higher YPA behind the same line, but he also has half the carries and it's very hard to say he'd hold up with more. You don't hand a guy who's had three major knee injuries the ball 200 times a year.

He must have read ST&NO yesterday, and decided to stick it to me. (And after I pointed out that he got picked on the winning TD.) I took a shot across the bow of epaulet wearers, and they’re shooting back!

omg no
No no no, however logical it may seem, I just can’t root for the Dolts. Every fiber of my being wants TEN to win that game, especially with the way they won the season. But I have a feeling SD wins it anyway — the anti-Cinderella team.

with the way they started the season
There I go, looking downfield before catching the frakkin ball again. : )
Also, thanks Doug!

Thanks Doug

HAHA Doug and I are cool
He’s shooting me for beating up on epaulets, which he likes. It’s all in the game.

Sorry to intrude again, but does anybody know when the Broncos’ press conferences will be today? Also are they broadcasted live online? If so, where can I see them?
The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have a running back and a wide receiver with 500 yards apiece in the same season before their 22nd birthdays.
You're not intruding
All are welcome to this happy place. As long as you don’t go into a profanity laced tirade you’ll be okay:) There will be a press conference today. Usually, Coach McDaniels, Kyle Orton and Brian Dawkins speak. You can usually watch them live at DenverBroncos.com but I am not sure at the time. Even if you miss the live version they archive it and you can watch it anytime under the Videos section. John also usually posts the transcript here a few hours later so you can just read what was said.

Sounds Good
Thanks a lot. I’ll be sure to check the Broncos site later today.

a lot of times they are at ~1145 mountain, however they would typically have a note up on the site by now I think… we have been getting some snow so that could be affecting things

Noooooo!
I cannot root for the Chargers ever. Plus I don’t really want to back into the playoff because other teams lost.
by NDbronco on Dec 23, 2009 9:37 AM MST via mobile reply actions
I agree
I will never root for the chargers. I just simply cannot do it. And I don’t want to back in to the playoffs either. Denver needs to get in by themselves. No help. If they win the next two, they will get in. Simple as that, so it’s all in their own hands. I like the Colts, personally. I don’t care if they win the sb this year – they might deserve it. Of course, I always want our guys to win, but I wont be disappointed if we don’t get there – we are, after all, a new team this year. The Patriots, well, if we got into the playoffs, and we had to face them, I think we could beat them. We did it once before and I think we could do it again. Go Titans!

Let me start by saying I absolutely hate the dolts! But...
How do they do it? How do they come on so strong the last half of the season every year? Increase steroid usage?
Lindsay Jones piece was interesting but not completely fair. I am wondering when we will see a return on our investment in Smith? I had high hopes for him. On the flip side Carter could be our answer for nickel next year. What do you all think?
