Not Making Playoffs- A Good Thing?

As I was taking my afternoon nap and thinking about the Broncos, I realized that not making the playoffs might be a good thing for the Broncos. How? In a non-cap year the playoff teams can only sign 1 free agent or even none at all unless they lose one. Denver needs to sign a QB that can backup Orton or even give him a run at starting. I know some of you will say BRANDSTATER. While I like Brandstater, I wouldn't think McD will go into next season as that being the plan. Most importantly Denver needs O-linemen. Isn't that what the draft is for? I think we have seen this year that McD doesn't play rookies unless they outright win the position battle. So Denver needs to sign a quality free agent center and guard and a decent backup tackle to challenge Polumbus. On defense the front seven have been adequate this year but a strong free agent signing here can go a long way also. The key is  to have a team that can be fielded without relying on unproven draftees. To do this Denver is going to have to sign more free agents than a playoff team is allowed. What do you think Denver will be better going to the playoffs and building on the positive environment that will create or missing playoff and using the year to continue to build this team?
