Now with the 12th picks in the 2010 draft...
now that the Bears should finish 7-9, there may be no doubt about taking the franchise tackle from Idaho, Mike Iupati. Most of the 'experts' have stated the Iupati inside 10 would be too high.
Well the most important issue now is that the Broncos really shore up the OL. Ben Hamilton is gone, Casey Weigmann is 36, Russ Hochstein is only a bu. Seth Olsen should fill one hole but the other is not in the Bronco camp YET.

What does the 12th pick have to do with picking at OT?
There will be plenty of talent around at 12, assuming that is where we pick. Picking a guard at this position might be a reach. If we are going to rebuild our interior line, maybe a trade down so we could have a late first and two second rounders would help. I would not want a guard at 12. Sorry.
At the 12th pick or any close by McD will pick the BPA (Best Player Available).
That means how the team is willing to pay for that particular position and how much that player would mean for the club in terms of output and such. I am not sure a Guard is worth a 12th pick, ie…QB, RB, DT, DE, OT…etc. We will address the the interior of the OLine for sure, we could read it in what McD said today in his remarks. Just not sure if he would take a Guard or Center in the that spot. Notice that Alex Mack was taken later in the first, and so on…The best thing would probably be trade down and extra pick if they can. We’ll have to wait and see. McD will get a Center and Guard, I’ll bet on that.
Guard
I agree we need a bigger guard (and center), but 12 is way too high. I would hope we could trade down if there is not a player we like at that pick. The season is not even over and I’m getting excited for the draft that is still 4months away. One thing at a time!
Its looking more like #15...
…so the fantasy of picking up either an elite player or extra picks was pretty much killed last night.
I guess the bright side is that before all is said and done, nobody will see Iupati as a huge reach around 15. Should McX be attracted to a 6-6 330 pound mauler G with the athleticism and mobility to zone block, and the athleticism and size to back up either tackle position, he could be ripe for the picking.
For anybody that hasn’t studied up on Iupati, he is an absolute freak. You couldn’t put together a better skill set for what McD seems to be trying to do— which is build a scheme and offensive line that transitions between two philosophies depending on the opponent. Iupati can engulf and maul, he can pull, and he can easily get to the second level and hit moving targets. He is also described as extremely bright, has high character, and plays with a motor. He was an Outland Trophy finalist, and had he played somewhere other than Idaho, he’d probably already be billed as a borderline Top 10er.

I respectfully disagree...but I love this kid as our OG
Though I don’t believe 7-9 and the 15 th pick will be where we pick.. Once we’re out of top 10 range, I say we pick Terrance Cody! He is the #1 rated NT on the board currently. At 360lbs, he would cast a shadow over line, he’s a beast that will create logjams and mismatches on the line. Add to that Chris Baker and Ron Fields to play along side. Our size would increase dramatically and create havoc up front?

In any other season 7-9...
…would be 12 or below, but since it was the Broncos who had a mirage of an opportunity, its shaping up that 7-9 is good for a middling, in-the-pack type of pick. Next year, when it doesn’t matter to the Broncos, 7-9 will probably net 8 or below.

I'm a little bitter.
Is it just me, or can this team not catch a single break. It’s like they’re cursed.
But yes…my formative years happened to start in ‘77. The Giants Super Bowl is a particularly sore tooth. Yet in all those years, I can’t think of a single season in which the whole fortunes turned on less than a handful of single plays like this year. Oh the woulda-coulda-shouldas…they burn!!!

This in a season started with an Immaculate Deflection? Come on
If this was not a biggest break, what is?
I'd give it back...
…if it’d just even the balance. Besides, Denver kicked their butts up and down the field— the outcome was righteous.

Cody gets way too much love on this site.
The difference between him and Suh is astronomical. Cody’s not worth taking in the first round because he’s out of shape and has bought into the hype of playing for a national championship team from the SEC (i.e. big head, little work ethic). I don’t want him anywhere near Denver, unless he’s improving our local economy at a Beaujo’s.

At first, I was all about Cody
but the more I’ve seen him, the less I think he’ll do anything worth while in the NFL. I think he’ll have Andre Smith disorder and show up late to camp and about 30 lbs overweight.

While I like the guy, I m not sure if that would be the pick
QB – McCoy, Claussen, Bradford may be available
NT – Cody or McCoy
S – Taylor Mayes anyone
LB – Brandon Spikes or MCain
WR – Dez Bryant
I would say all of these guys may be better picks at that slot, I think we can get a very good interior lineman in the 2nd round where it would be better value. Typically you aren’t drafting guards with a top 15 pick, unless you are the Raiders.

if mccoy falls to the 2nd i think the broncos gotta go after him
let him sit behind orton for a year or two. i think he’d fit well in the offense we run. plus he is very mobile. thats the one thing the really bothers me about orton…he has ankles of glass
I would love to nab McCoy in the 2nd, but I don't see it
I am guessing that Minnesota looks at drafting him (if we pass) with the idea he will replace Farve

I would not be the least bit shocked if McDaniels took Bradford or Claussen if either is available.
I think Bradford would be a great fit since he is accurate and has a quick release. He played in a pro passing offense and has been well coached. I hate Oklahoma, but I think he will be a great NFL QB.
Injuries are a big concern, but he has a lot of tools in his box that Orton does not. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’ll be around at #12.
This is my favorite website.
I was starting to see that possibility...
…until ol’ JC decided to match his talent for an evening. But I think the QB derby will be over by time Denver picks now.

I say there's about "0" chance Josh takes a 1st rnd QB.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go after Dez Bryant after watching his WRs dissappear. Ryal is a slot At best. Then pick up larger, stronger OGs/C via drat and FA. Maybe another RB also.

Clady was #12 in the first round
So, if Iupati is really a beast, I say take him. OL beasts are few and far between, and since he can play numerous positions……well, I say hell yeah.
I remember many wanting Shanny to trade up for D’Brickshaw a few years back.
Now think of this scenario.
Draft Iupati and sign Logan Mankins. Problem solved in many ways. Especially if Chicago releases Kreutz as the rumors say they will.
Harris, Mankins, Kreutz, Iupati, Clady. Oh bring on the opposition!

Koop's been getting rocked on the LoS
I counted at least 5 times in the past 2 games that was completely dominated in every way.

I honestly coulnd't care less if we had a top 5 pick
I want this guy period. Another year of complete incompetence on the interior o-line may make me quit watching football. How many failed 3rd and 1’s can we really endure during a year. It’s just f’in ridiculous.
Hell, if other teams want him, trade picks to move up for him I say.
