Horse Tracks 12/3/09 - Harris, Jordan, Orton, Royal, Woodyard all practice; Dawkins sits another Wednesday out

Horse_tracks_new_logo_medium

DB - Week 13 - Wed: McDaniels - Broncos TV

DB - Expect a Battle - Gray Caldwell
"For the Broncos, Brian Dawkins (ankle) was the only player who did not participate in Wednesday's practice. The five other players listed on the injury report -- Ryan Harris (toe), LaMont Jordan (back), Kyle Orton (ankle), Eddie Royal (thigh) and Wesley Woodyard (neck) -- all had full participation in the session."

DB - Finding His Footing - Chris Gentilviso
"I think one thing that has really helped is we have been kicking with a little skinnier than arena uprights in practice," Prater said. "So then when I go out there for the games, I look at the uprights and they look a lot wider. Just a mental (edge) too."

DPP - Matchmaking puts Bailey on defensive - Jeff Legwold
"So, instead of waiting for the action to come to the eight-time Pro Bowl selection, Nolan tries to put Bailey where the Broncos want the action to go. That is a departure from past years, when Bailey could spend entire games without two passes directed toward him."

DPP - Q&A: It's best for Champ to stay at corner - Jeff Legwold

DPP - Chiefs no long December darlings - Mike Klis
"The Chiefs have lost both of their home December games each of the past two years, and five of their past six."

DPP - Analysis: Moreno prepared himself for NFL grind - Jeff Legwold

33 to 20 is pretty ridiculous

A truth can only be expressed and enveloped in words if it is one-sided. Everything that is thought and expressed in words is one-sided, only half the truth; it all lacks totality, completeness, unity.

Chiefs haven't put up 33 points on anyone all year

and now all of a sudden they are going to light it up against the Broncos? Riiiight.

Come on, it makes sense

It’s not like the Broncos have the #3 scoring defense in the league or anything. Plus, the Chiefs are an offensive Juggernaut. Everybody knows that.

It’s like Picking the Cardinals to beat a team by the score 9-7. Makes no sense on this planet or any other.

by Chibronx on Dec 3, 2009 9:47 AM MST up reply actions

Apparently last week

he picked the Giants to “crush” us.

by bostonbroncofan on Dec 3, 2009 11:53 AM MST up reply actions

New York Giants at Denver: “Hello? Hello? Is anyone in there? Hello, this is Peter Schrager, reporting live from the 2009 Broncos media bandwagon. A month ago, this very train was packed to the brim with media members. You couldn’t buy a seat, couldn’t get a spot in the overhead baggage space. Now? It’s completely empty. I feel like Geraldo in Al Capone’s safe. Lonely, barren, and forgotten — this train has left the station.” How was that for a news report? The Broncos have won their past three against the Giants in Denver, and Kyle Orton is 18-3 at home as a starter. None of that will matter Thursday. Big Blue gets the win and stays alive in the hunt for the NFC East crown. The Pick: Giants 23, Broncos 17

by Velveeta on Dec 3, 2009 12:34 PM MST up reply actions

It wasn't "completely" empty.

People at MHR were still on the bandwagon. Some of us even bought cool leather recliners so we could sit in comfort with all the extra room created from people getting off. It sure is a comfortable bandwagon.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

John Clayton says -
After studying some numbers, I put 14 current starting quarterbacks on the elite level. An elite quarterback nowadays is one who can run an offense that can score 21.5 or more points a game, throw for at least 220 yards a game, complete at least 60 percent of his passes and have the ability to bring a team back in the fourth quarter.

The elite AFC quarterbacks are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer and Joe Flacco. In the NFC, you have Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Aaron Rodgers, Kurt Warner, Eli Manning and Matt Ryan.

Matt Schaub of Houston is knocking on the door of becoming an elite quarterback. Jay Cutler of Chicago was elite in Denver, but interceptions this season have temporarily pulled him down. Matt Hasselbeck of the Seahawks has been elite, but a rib injury and poor offensive line play have him just on the border.

by Hoopforia on Dec 3, 2009 8:44 AM MST reply actions

Why does Clayton continue to believe that...

That baggy suit with the oversized colored stripes, white make-up, big red nose, red hair, and giant size shoes adds ANY credibility to wharever his opinion happens to be???

by BroncoSense72 on Dec 3, 2009 9:10 AM MST up reply actions

I'm thinking of becoming an Astrophysics analyst

My first effort:

After studying some numbers I think Jupiter is really, really big. Of the planets. it is so large. If you didn’t know, its all covered with smoke and such. Saturn looks really cool, and it is big, too. So it deserves some credit. Mars is really neat because its red and popular. Traditionally, I have thought little of Neptune. It might be big if you compare it to some of the little ones. It sure isn’t is as big as Jupiter. If a planet is not as big as Jupiter, it has to have rings to be relevant. Plus, its too far away for me to really care one way or the other. Nobody really cares about Jupiter. Everybody else agrees its not as big as Jupiter. Did you know Jupiter has a storm on it? Jupiter is so cool. If you don’t believe me, you can ask my mom.

I mean, if Clayton can make a living, why can’t I?

Drat!!!

Its supposed to be “Nobody really cares about Neptune.” I really have to stop multi tasking…

Hah hah

Nice one.

I actually was going to say something like, “But meanwhile Clayton writes stuff as if it came from Uranus” but thought better of it! ;-)

Thanks, NYC

I haven’t had much time for the Broncos lately. Being able to blitz through your article round-up is a fantastic luxury.

Thanks Doug

The skinny uprights idea is superb thinking. Whoever thought of that needs to be retained long term.
It looks like the Concussion issue is finally getting the attention it deserves. I have been gathering data on the subject.

I like that too

Love to see the kickers become less important. Do away with the extra point too, I say.

Clifton Brown's article was revealing

When he talks about the difficulty of going from a coordinator to a head coach, notice that he doesn’t even bring up McDaniels until a throw-away line near the end. Apparently, once you win you go from a perfect example to an afterthought. Sometimes it sees that only when the connotation is negative do you make the media’s list for discussion.

by Doc Bear on Dec 3, 2009 11:22 AM MST reply actions

would have been nice if he had wrapped it up

with a “this is why it is so impressive the job that McDaniels has done so far with his new team, which also has a new QB, 1/2 new roster, new coordinators, etc…”
Nope. Doesn’t take the opportunity. Just a throw-away line at the end. LAEM.

I Enjoyed his Final Paragraph or so

when he points out that last year THREE new coaches made the playoffs and right now this year it would only be TWO.

Wow, big change there. Three to two huh? Well that proves your point.
