Does anyone have a pregame ritual?

I was wondering if anyone besides me had a pregame ritual of some sorts? Anything from wearing your favorite uniform to your lucky sock.

Star-divide

Mine is staying up the entire night from Saturday until the game, yes that also includes MNF games. I drink a lot of coffee and smoke through about 2 packs of Reds. If anyone else has a pregame ritual feel free to share I am quite interested in other people and what they do, partly because I am interested in people and partly because I don't want to feel weird :-P, it does not have to be specifically for the Broncos either.

Sweet post...

I always have a tough time sleeping the night before a game. One day, you just gave up and decided it best to just stay up until the game. Nice. Wish I had thought of that. Anyways, I usually toke a few bowls (smoke the ganja) before the game starts. I’m sure to be one of many on this one, but it always relaxes me. I’m so anxious to see my team play (and win…god willing) that I make myself a nervous wreck. I also get pumped and start yelling “Go Broncos” and other wacky chants when the game is an hour or two away. My 2-year old son thinks I’m crazy, but sometimes he joins in on the ruckus. I have to wonder what the neighbors think on Sunday : ) Great idea for a post. Here’s to a Broncos win over KC today!!!

I've heard of the Rose bowl and the Orange bowl, etc....

but the smoka bowl is new to me. Where do they play that?

by jayrockstone on Dec 6, 2009 7:51 AM MST up reply actions

I was thinking Miami.

They have Ricky Williams, and all.

Maybe that was too far……….

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Niceeee

I am usually happy for the Sunday games due to the fact I only have to give up one night of sleep. I started this back when I was 15 and kept it going for all my major teams in the NFL, NHL, MLB and Futbal (Bosnia who should have made it into the world cup but didn’t, still upset). I’m surprised your still holding on to the green even after having a kid, but props to you! You can relate to him IF he starts it. Much easier way to communicate. Hopefully the record after today’s game will be 2-16! Let’s go Broncos!

We're undefeated when I wear my orange #15 jersey and eat barbeque baked chicken.

Well, my jersey is on and the chicken has just been placed in the oven.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

you better keep doing that then.

after the broncos make it to the playoffs you better take a pic of that jersey, crusty bbq sauce and all, then post it on here for us all to see. Great game today, huh?

haha, will do Walter.

I completely forgot about it when I went home after week 6. I left it at my parent’s house. It was there for the whole month of november. I went home for thanksgiving and wore it, had some bbq chicken on thanksgiving and it was a win. That’s when I remembered that I eat bbq chicken way too much.

It came to me what was really happening, later. BBQ chicken and orange Beast jersey. Done deal. Fortunately, I’ve kept it clear of flying barbeque sauce, so far. Hopefully, I don’t have crusty bbq sauce on it, at seasons end. lol.

Today was an awesome game. If it weren’t for the turnovers, we are looking at a 50 point game. Our running game has found its stride and our defense played really well, for the most part. If we keep playing 60 minutes of football, we can win any game.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Prayer

Lots and lots of prayer. : )

I usually just clean the family room / man cave, get on my old TD jersey, spread the ol Bronco blanket over the couch, and make it be known that martial law (Marshall law?) is in effect in the household until the game is over so leave me the #@!! alone!!

Additional lucky charms include getting my kids in Bronco gear and tricking my Browns fan wife into rubbing my belly. : )

Great post, great idea!

"All we're trying to do is win the *********** game!" -- Josh MF McDaniels tearing into his offensive line after three false starts in the red zone. The tirade turned the tide of the game, and the Broncos dominated from that point on.

disclaimer

I don’t actually say the word #@!! to my wife and kids. That’s really bad karma both in terms of family harmoniousness and, more importantly, winning the game. ; )

Well, I don't have a ritual for PRE game but here's my game day deal:

I wear my Marshall jersey and any my beanie. If Denver gets behind while I’m in the jersey, it comes off and doesn’t get worn again until the next week.

As for the beanie, I wear it normally until Denver gets in the RZ, then I flip it inside out and if they get within the 5 yard line, I take it off completely.

Also, I don’t eat any pork products on game day. I always eat something spicy (anymore, it’s just Taco Bell with a ton of Fire sauce, thanks Massachusetts), I never drink on game day. And also, I never watch the game in my living room. That TV is bad juju.

I wear my orange bronco hat on sundays

All the other gear, shirt/sweatshirt/jersey changes, but I love that hat. It’s been through a lot and makes me feel like gameday. Unfortunately, it’s so thrashed it’s only worn on gamedays now so I can prolong it’s life.

I usually watch at home- but today I went to the Roadrunner Saloon here in Vegas

Since the game wasn’t on TV. My wife dressed my boy up in his jersey (no number or name on that one.) My wife put on her new Broncos shirt and visor and I wore my old Plummer Jersey and blue pro-back hat.

We got to the Saloon at about 9:30 and ordered breakfast. We were lucky enough to get a nice horse-shoe shaped booth with a really comfortable seat. I was perfect because my son could run around on the seat between my wife and I without getting out in the way of the other patrons. He behaved like a champ for a 2-yr old. An old timer walked by and said hi to my son and he yelled out ‘Go Brottto’s’- not bad for a 2-yr old, huh?

The food was outstanding, you could tell the eggs were very fresh and super large- I like that. Their potatoes are amazing good. They are like a super thick potatoe chip- so they are kind of soft in the middle still but just crispy enough- then they season them really well. Their coffee was real good too.

About 35-40 more Broncos fans rolled in by kickoff time- everyone was pretty mellow but definitely got into the game. Its good to be around like minds- it makes for a completely different experience than just watching from the couch at home.

Anyway, it was a great time and I will definitely be going back there next week for the Indy game since that one won’t be on TV either.

I have a strict game day ritual.

I have a 12 inch Broncos Troll doll. You know the ones with the bright hair and big buggy eyes? I have one with a Broncos sweater, blue pants, and orange hair. I named him “Lil Shanny”. I force my wife to give him a high five before the game starts and after every Bronco touchdown. I also have to carry him the entire game. I wear a hoodie with pockets every game in case I need to do something with 2 hands.

haha

I wasnt expecting this many comments. Great rituals by some, I like the 12 inch Broncos Troll doll :-p the BBQ chicken one seems like it should be a ritual done by all of Bronco Nation. Great game today guys. Quite pleased I am.

Don't get me started...

…Long story short, if I explained all my mojology you’d guess I was posting from a padded and secure institution somewhere. I actually have three hats, three shirts, and jeans, sleep pants and shorts that I bring into the cave. I always start with a certain combo on— always at least two shirts, my throwback hat (the D-with-the-horse not brown). The leg wear varies depending on the outside weather and my level of laziness leading up to game time, and it usually only changes in moments of sheer (usually futile) desperation. For the record, the offense seems to like the throwback hat, the classic blue seems to have a good turnover vibe to it, and the defense does better with the orange one that I don’t ever wear outside the house because I can’t figure out why I bought the ugly dang thing. I also have a variety of jigs and dances…

Anyway, I have a lot of fun with it, and while I’m pretty sure it doesn’t change the game, it helps me with tension and nerves and keeps me occupied during commercial breaks.

You would think...

That sacrificing ones lungs to the Broncos would appease the gods on Mt Olympus but noooooooooooooo.
