Everybody in the country knew Hillis was going to run the ball

who were watching the game, of course. I hope McD has taken note: 7 runs for 47 yards . . .

The question is

who and when is he going to spell? He is a good running back, but we have two other backs ahead of him that are running well also.

Lady, you want me to answer you if this old airplane is safe to fly? Just how in the world do you think it got to be this old?

Good alternative in short yardage situations

Like near the goal line. Put in a bruiser to block or jam the ball through somebody.

by ClarkFan on Dec 6, 2009 4:30 PM MST up reply actions

McD

Was saving him for the playoffs. Keep him healthy and have a beast of a runner like that with near fresh legs?

Ouch.

Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?

by ChristianL on Dec 6, 2009 6:29 PM MST up reply actions

I do not get the love for hillis still

I for one would much rather have Moreno and Buck carry the ball because they are much better players.

by gnarlybroncodude on Dec 6, 2009 2:28 PM MST up reply actions

because he runs like a tank

a friggen tank. He’s awesome to watch. Like watching Atwater on offense. (exaggeration for visual purpose only. :)

by BroncoInExile on Dec 6, 2009 2:32 PM MST up reply actions

And

He has better speed than people assume. He has great hands, he has very good athletic ability, he displays excellent vision when given an opportunity to carry the ball in situations that allow for him to choose a gap….

I go overboard in my love of Hillis, but tell me what you see as the major differences setting Moreno and Buck so far ahead of him?

hillis for lamont

I love me some rumblin, but Buck and Knowshon are hands down better and more complete. Hillis would be great as insurance for injury and clean up time.

Good things happen when we run the ball

And run it well, no doubt. That is a number that is usually the other way around for the Broncos in arrowhead in December.

Agreed.

Running the ball was a key to this football game and the broncos did a very good job of pounding the rock. Running the ball this well is a great way to win games in December and January.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

by Troy Hufford on Dec 6, 2009 2:26 PM MST up reply actions

Sure it is

And the key to running the ball werll is the O-line opening thse kinds of holes – very nice work, all day long

Moreno/Buckhalter in '09

by Doc Bear on Dec 6, 2009 2:27 PM MST up reply actions

I really thought this game would be about the O-line and D-line.

Which is exactly how it played out. Clady however seemed to have a very inconsistent game, one of the few in which he was better in the run game than pass blocking. Still it was a great overall performance.

hey, dd, be fair. The browns just killed their momentum with a missed FG. The very next play was a swing pass to tolbert that was taken to the house.

The Browns haven’t shown that they can be a mentally tough team. Things like this snowball throughout the game and that is what makes them the browns.

Most of the time, to have a QB you need a team

And Cleveland hasn’t had one of those the last few years. Hard to tell what Quinn could do with some support.

is it just me

or is Umenouria’s (or however you spell it) reputation as a pass rusher based on that one game against Philly where he got like 6 sacks versus the backup tackle that the Eagles refused to help?

by poorboywilly on Dec 6, 2009 3:04 PM MST reply actions

Osi definitely = overrated.

Any defensive player that has the gall to chew out his own offense when he is getting burned himself is a loser.

You may be on to something.

He is overrated. I don’t see him as a great pass rusher, especially since Strahan has retired.

I think he got good matchups

Hate Them:
San Diego Chargers- Most unclassiest team in NFL
Oakland Raiders- Need I say more?

Love them:
Kansas City Chief- They just beat themselves

Truth.

I watched the game today with a KC fan at Hooter’s. Cool dude, we just talked football with only very slight pokes at each other. Although, it was hard for him to have anything to say to me.

My favorite thing he said to me:

“Here comes our best player!” as Colquitt the punter ran out there.

I responded with, “Hey the Raiders are in the exact same situation!”

He laughed.

I FRIGGIN KNEW I SHOULD'VE STARTED MEACHEM OVER HESTER!

I was debating this all week. Looks like Meachem has become one of Brees’ primary targets. Massive potential there, the guy’s a former first rounder, big and fast. Colston, Meachem, Shockey, Henderson, 3 headed monster at RB. DAMN they’re loaded.

Saints are the best team in the league by far. That secondary needs to get healthy though.

I think we’ve got the potential to replicate that kind of offense in the future.

The Broncos ran all over the chiefs.

Buck and Moreno had big days. Orton threw a redzone pick. Cassel threw some picks. Goody and Hill were all over the place, making plays.

Broncos pretty much did whatever they wanted, but it was all about the running game today.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

by Troy Hufford on Dec 6, 2009 3:36 PM MST up reply actions

Defense and the run game made the win possible.

Today seemed to be a totally off day for Orton. He fumbled and lost two balls and threw an interception early on.

Knowshon ran well, racked up 2 td’s.
Buck ran VERY well and killed guys.
Hillis was a very solid closer.

Alphonso Smith got penalized like 5 times.

non scientific gut review

Orton had a rough game, underthrew a few times, but had a couple money play fakes and a couple solid hard tosses.

buckhalter was unstoppable running left, and moreno continued to get yards when none existed.

marshall continued to make his bid for a big’ol contract, getting some beastly YAC.

Offense as a whole was hot and cold, sometimes looking unstoppable, others not getting anywhere.

Dawk seemed to be about 80%, got run over and missed a tackle early on. he is still the x factor and made a solid stop inside the 5 to help hold kc to 3.

the d line seemed to be getting pushed around quite a bit in the 1st half, but made good adjustments and took over in the 2nd. doom got his 1 sack, but there was not a whole lot of pressure for most of the game.

special teams is coming together, berger got another near blocked kick off, and actually blasted it for like 50 yds, he continues to feed me crow.

denver made the right plays at the right times, and kc seemed to shoot themselves in the foot too much. Denver was clearly the better team, and the score is probably a good recounting of how the game went.

What can I say, this is from my pre-season prediction post last spring....
.Horvil Tiki prepares Ribs for a special ritual as well as dinner. Panff captures a White Albino Crab and prepares it as a sacrifice. They use the ribs and scraps from the crab to create an image of the Ghost Monkey perched on McDaniels’ shoulder. They throw it on plenty hot coals and watch it burn. It works! The Ghost Monkey sweats stinky gue, falls of Josh’s shoulder, and we win.

.

of course I also said we’d beat the Skins and Steelers….I guess we’ll see…next week is a true character test.
