We all know the Broncos are the best, but with views like this it is hard to argue with the truth that Denver is a great place to live.

Not all of us are lucky enough to reside in Denver, however, so with the Re-Loading Season in full swing it's time to find out where everyone lives, throughout the world. City/State please, and if you are international, please give us the City/Country!

Watching the B's...

Hey, where do you watch the Broncos games? I used to have DirecTV, until we bought a condo and out went the satellite.

We need a Broncos bar, damnit.

by jvill on Feb 10, 2009 4:37 PM MST up reply actions

There is a Broncos bar!

Sidebar on the corner of 15th St. and Irving Pl. is a big football bar. Saturdays they are usually loaded with CU Buffs, Gators and I forget what other schools. On Sundays, I guess all the CU fans come back in their Broncos jerseys. It’s a weird but great feeling – I’ve been going to football bars with my friends (none of whom root for the Broncos) for many years and have always been the only Broncos fan in the whole place. We basically get either the entire back room, or a side room because we’re decent-sized group – generally 15-25 Broncos fans, I’d say. There’s an Atwater, an Elway or two, a couple of Champs and some of us wear the JC Saves t-shirt.

The "windy city"... Chicago, IL

Though the nickname came about because of our politicians, and not actually due to how windy the city is. I’d like to think it’s because of all the “hot air” our politicians blow… Go Blagojevich… er, I mean, Broncos!!

The ex-urbs of St. Louis, MO, on the Illinois side of the river.

And I say ex-urb, because my hometown is IN the vicinity of StL, but far enough away and WAY too small to be considered anywhere close to a suburb – i.e.: unless you’re an A+ student at Illinois Geography, you’ve never heard of this place. Clue: We’re famous (infamous?) for a bike race involving donuts (which, somehow, was NOT the impetus of my commenter name . . . another story for another time). Thankfully, I’m nowhere near Chicago (great city to visit, but I’d probably hate to live there).

And damnit, one of these days I’m GONNA make it to Denver and I’m GONNA get my ass to Mile High for a Broncos game!

Screw that.

For my money, Austin sucks ass. Everyone who doesn’t live here loves it. Hell, even most people here love it, but for me, it’s always been trash.

I am Jack's unbridled optimism.

by A.J. Haefele on Feb 10, 2009 4:31 PM MST up reply actions

I like certain aspects of it.

For instance the weather (MOST of the time). Humidity sucks of course, think it might be worse than WY/CO in the fluctuation of the weather. 73 one day, then 46 the next… 95 w/ 20% humidity one day, 100 w/ 100% humidity the next…

The safety, I actually live on the Round Rock/Austin border, but I never really worry about anything crime related here.

However, I think the entire city was built/designed/layed out by a bunch of ____________ __________ ____________! Worst laid out/designed/etc city I’ve even lived/been to. Thats why in a city (plus outlining citys) with a population close to 1 million, a 30 min drive in no/mild traffic takes 2+ hours 1/2 the time. only 2 real arteries to get anywhere. and if one more pre-existing road gets turned into a toll road for the hell of it… Man ohh Man…

Wow…Sorry about the rant…

by Chuck "DeadDrunk" Breedlove on Feb 10, 2009 4:47 PM MST up reply actions

Oh

you’re dead on about the city planning. It’s complete trash. I don’t know how it happened, but it managed to make driving through Dallas seem simple. When I was driving to Denver, the drive through Austin alone extended my drive by 90 totally unnecessary minutes. The toll roads here in the Houston area are insane, as well. Thank god for E-Z Tags…

As for the humidity, at least in Austin you get those “95 w/20% humidity” days. Here, we don’t get that. We’re already at like, 70% humidity on a fairly consistent basis and it is always hot here. Even when it’s “cold”, it’s really hot. I hate the weather here.

I am Jack's unbridled optimism.

About 2 and a half hours (on a good day) south of the stadium gates on I-25. Been here most of the last 40 years or so. I only left for 3 years to attend school in Grand Forks, ND. Same here!

My grandma used to travel to Denver twice a year for doctor visits and she is not the best driver. btw, I used to go with her so I could get a glimpse of Mile High Stadium which we passed on the way. ;-) One time she “forgot” to turn on her 4WD and we spun out going over that pass and hit a snow embankment…which had a very large cliff on the other side. I can’t recall, but I may have had an accident that day…being a 1st grader and all. lol

I also remember a place called Treasure Falls….neat place to live. I remember our house was right up next too two giant sand dunes. wierd.

Ever been over Red Mountain Pass?

Wolf Creek Pass is a breeze compared to Red Mountain Pass (North of Durango between Silverton & Ouray). It is by far the sketchiest pass I’ve ever been on. You’re basically on a cliff face with a thousand foot drop straight down on your side, one narrow curvy lane each way with no shoulders, and there isn’t even a guard rail. It’s insane this time of year.

I was raised in Boise, ID (still like it there, would like to move back some day). I went to college in Terre Haute, IN, which I strongly recommend NEVER visiting. Seattle’s nice…I enjoy it here. I just wish Denver and the Seahawks were in the same division so I could go to some Broncos games, oh well! I’ll just have to make a pilgrimage to Mile High one of these days.

I could go on for too long

But I’m extremely happy about what the new GM has done. Gutierrez is not “the” answer but he improves our outfield defense significantly and overall we got what we needed out of that trade (although you could say it was pretty even on both sides). We won’t be great this year but they’re putting the pieces in place for ’10 and the future.

Really though, if you want to talk Ms, head over to Lookout Landing (another SBN blog). Look around a bit before you jump in though, the posting guidelines are a bit different than ’round here.

Late to the action, but Chatham, NJ

About 25 miles west of NYC (and a few miles from the Jets new training facilities). Grew up in New City, NY (about 25 miles north of NYC). Went to school in Baltimore and have lived previously in Arlington, VA and Manhattan (NYC not Kansas). Work has forced me to travel so I have actually seen more than the north east corner of the country. And I’ve made two trips out to Denver for games.

I think I saw enough NYC area folks to justify a meetup at a bar one Sunday to catch a game. My friend did meet his wife at a bar in NYC because she was with her friend’s fiance who was wearing a Broncos jersey (for some reason I want to say John Mobley) and I showed up with a Broncos hat. I’m not promising anything. Just saying that it has happened before :)

Ourimbah on the Sunny Central Coast of NSW Australia..

First Broncos game I saw was the 1998 Broncs vs Dolphins on MNF and the Broncos lost, I was so annoyed at them, but then they came back in the divisional playoffs and beat the fish then went through and won the SB and I was estatic..

I was 18 and it was also my first introduction to SB parties US style… nice…

Well Cedar Park to be exact, and there’s this store called “Fanz” I believe, anyways… All kinds of broncos stuff. First time I found a store that carries anything but cowboys (or longhorns) crap here.

Also a few months ago I was at petsmart, and they had NFL collars, for the Cowboys, Texans, and Broncos. Only 3 teams. lol. Of course you know one of my Dogs is sporting a nice orange Bronco collar now. ;)

Anyways, it was a good thing to find a store with some gear, as the same Dog had gotten ahold of a couple of my Bronoc hats. Plus I bought a new hoodie and a couple of Beanies for the Texans/Broncos game last year.

They all came to the U.S. on the boat in the 1890’s, and ended up in Minnesota, where I was born. My sister went back there a couple years ago, and brought back great photos. Looked just like Sweden!!

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for my eyes to behold the sun.

I have worked with many norwegians

and they always recognize my (real) family name as being swedish. Being the only swede on a fishing boat with a bunch of Norwegians is a..uhm…‘challenging’… position to be in all the time.

Lake Lillian, Minnesota

Small town in central Minnesota (where my mother grew up). Two Lutheran churches, one for the Swedes, one for the Norwegians.

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for my eyes to behold the sun.

Norwegian...

…walks into a bar in Minnesota. Two guys at a table, one at the end of the bar. Bartender brings him a beer. He tells a joke about a dumb Swede. Norwegian looks around, no one is laughing. Bartender comes up to the Norwegian and says, " I’m a Swede. Those two guys over there are Swedes. The guy at the end of the bar is a Swede." Nnorwegian looks at them all – no one is laughing at his joke. Norwegian says, “Okay, Okay, I’ll tell it one more time.”

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for my eyes to behold the sun.

A Norwegian and a Swede...

…go fishing. They rent a boat at the lake, and find a good spot. Catch lots of fish. Before they head in at the end of the day, the Norwegian says to the Swede, “Now, Swede, you mark this spot so we can come back tomorrow and catch more fish!” Swede says, “Yah, yah, I will mark the spot.”
Next morning, they head for the boats. Norwegian: “Well, Swede, did you mark that spot so we can catch more fish there?” Swede: “Yah, I put an X in the bottom of the boat to mark the spot.”
Norwegian: “Well, you dumb Swede! How do you know we’ll get the same boat?”

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for my eyes to behold the sun.

Scandinavians

This is from a book I read some years ago: “At a gathering of Scandinavians, the Finns will be dancing; the Danes will be passing the bottle around; the Norwegians will be looking to start a fight; and the Swedes will be standing against the wall waiting to be introduced.”

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for my eyes to behold the sun.

I am in closing on a house with a flagpole

I hadn’t thought of a Broncos flag! Last couple of years have been half-masters though, if you know what I mean.

Good for you!

Although once you have the flag and are all good to go you’re faced with a bunch of questions…

Do I put it out for the draft?
Do I put it out if a Bronco is going into the hall? (kidding – Broncos don’t go into the hall)
Do I put it out for pre-season games?
Do my neighbors think less of me when I am out of town and am unable to put the flag out on those rare gamedays?
Do I put it out for the Superbowl? (Assuming we aren’t in it)
What about the Pro Bowl?

So many questions…. Mostly they come from my wife. Round about week 8 she gets tired of the pre-dawn raising of the flag….

Louisville, Kentucky Here!

When i started playing HS football.
I figured it was time to find MY pro team.
I started off liking Brett Farve and the packers but that was manly because they had just won the SB and they were on TV every week !~ i didn’t know who else to really root for. Cincy was close by, Dallas was americas team, 49ers, Bears and so on….
Then one day i seen this Blue and Orange team with the best uni’s i’ve ever seen
. They had a great QB that everybody talked about and Mr. Davis was running, running, running, running running into my heart.
As a lineman I loved to spring RB’s for long Touchdown runs.
IT WAS ONLY RIGHT THAT THE BRONCO’s BECAME MY NO.1 TEAM From 97 until the end of the Football.

I Promise You One Thing. A Lot Of Good Will Come Outta This.
You Will Never See Anyone Type On The Message Boards As Much As I Will For The Rest of This Season .
You Will Never See Anyone Push and Root For His Team As Hard As I Will For The Rest of This Season.
And You Will Never See Another Team Fight Tougher and Harder Than Louisville Will In the Big East For The Rest of This Season.
God Bless.

I live in Sacramento...I feel your pain.

Is there such a thing as a Playstation 3 Anonymous? I can't seem to stop thinking about or playing COD 4 and COD 5. I hear this is quite normal for a teenager, but I haven't been a teenager since Bill Clinton was frolicking with interns.

No, I don't pay attention to them. I get the Kings shoved down my throat more...

I hear we just signed a 400 year old guard and paid him a boat full of cash.

and sorry for the double post…..

Right on the cusp between Bronco Country and ViQueens Territory. My 7 year old recently told me he wants to be a vikings fan. I shed a few tears that day………….

Quick geography lesson: It’s pronounced “PEER” not “PEE – AIR”

Unfortunately this year the only game I could get to was the MNF disaster in New England…

Grew up in Littleton; Bronco fan since ’75. Cheering hard for the Broncos here on Tobacco Road. Go to see them when they come to the mid-Atlantic area. Saw them past the Skins back in ’98, and then went to the Panthers game in Charlotte last December.
Keep the faith Bronco fans. We are a premier NFL franchise, and will return to prominensce soon.

I used to live in Denver and still have my season tickets. I get to games as often as I can and have a cousin in Denver who takes the “leftovers”. I access MHR daily, but don’t post much. I do Eye in the Sky reports(free) on the Broncos for FFMastermind.com. Regular MHR readers will see a lot of thoughts gleaned from the best Broncos site on the net!
