Have this guy on your FA-radar!
Remember the 2008 Denver Special Teams? I do... It sucked. That wasn't only because of Praters 40-curse.
The returning was stinky too. Royal was, to me anyway, a bit of a disappointment. I'll give him a pass due to his heavy duty as a reciever - ask Hester what that combo does to your return-skills. That won't change in 2009 though as Royal isn't leaving Cutlers side for anything.
So, what do we do?
Football-outsiders wrote this today in their off-season preview for the 49'ers:
The 49ers were strong on both kick and punt returns last year, but Allen Rossum is a free agent. He ranked seventh in average kickoff return in 2008.
I didn't catch much 49'er action as i spent all my non-Bronco moments screaming into a pillow or crying myself to sleep, but Rossum does seem to be someone to keep an eye on - he's a low-profile player, that might come cheap. It's better to get him, than spending a 3rd-rounder on a undersized RB or WR to return kicks.
What do you think?

Rossum Had a Solid Year
And definitely went under the radar. I would have no problem bringing him in.

Rossum is a useful guy on ST, definitely
and he won’t be expensive

33 Years Old, 11 Year Player
But hey, the guy’s consistent. Maybe not home-run threat caliber like a lot of the flashy guys, but he can get the job done. I guess that’s all you need in terms of ST for starting field position. Besides, a lot of the flashy guys have trouble keeping it up and burn out after a season or two and then might resurface sometime later. Yes, he’s old, but he can be serviceable. Good suggestion. KR is a position that doesn’t necessarily have to remain stagnant every year. It’d still be nice to get a good young guy, but as long as the average returns are there, Cutler and Co. shouldn’t have much to complain about in terms of starting field position.

Exactly
Right now the ambition for ST (and defense for that matter) has got to be league-average. If ST and D had been average this year, denver would’ve been a top-6 team in the league!

Royal was doing great until Shanny stopped putting him back to return kicks
Is there such a thing as a Playstation 3 Anonymous? I can't seem to stop thinking about or playing COD 4 and COD 5. I hear this is quite normal for a teenager, but I haven't been a teenager since Bill Clinton was frolicking with interns.

He seems to have a history of flaming out
I think we can get a person in the draft or maybe resign Aldridge (why the hell they cut him I have no idea).
