Mile High Report Around the World

 Active Members by State

Usmapmhrers_medium

Our recent "where is everyone from" post was quite a success, and to commemorate the great response, we are putting up these fine maps showing what any Risk player will recognize as eventual total world domination.  With key strongholds on the east and west coast, as well as strategic bases throughout the world, and protecting vital resources, you can see that MHR is well on the way towards its goals of spreading the word and love of the Orange and Blue around the globe!

As you can see we need to gain more ground through the midwest, and we obviously aren't getting out the word about our stud two-way player Spencer Larsen, as we seem to be lagging in Utah as well.  And I KNOW we can do better in Idaho and Wyoming.  If you call those states home and you are reading this definitely step up and let us know you are out there.

And for the rest of the world we are seeing some gaps in our representation, but the Kiwis and Aussies definitely have our OZ allies covered, and some of our longest tenured members are providing a firm foothold in the Old Country.  Based on sitemeter numbers, we are getting tons of hits from around the globe, but we can't get you the recognition you deserve if you don't give us a shout and let us know you are out there!

And if you aren't sure if MHR is the community for you, rest assured that this site has some of the most intelligent, sincere, positive and downright generous commenters and contributors posting ANYWHERE on the internet.  No question is considered too small, and lots of people are eager to help out, hear what you have to say and give you the feedback you are looking for.  Oh, and did I mention that you simply won't find a better place anywhere outside of Mile High Stadium to enjoy some straight up Orange and Blue camaraderie?

World map and distribution chart below the fold.  Check it out and get involved in the comments!

[Huge thank you to tlozwarlock, the creator of the templates for these fine maps and charts.  If you want to tell him how cool they are, you can find him and his work over at the SBNation Falcons blog, The Falcoholic--styg]

I see "your" dot styg50....lol It seems pretty big for just one dude...

I may live in California, but I am Idahoan in my heart.

Is there such a thing as a Playstation 3 Anonymous? I can't seem to stop thinking about or playing COD 4 and COD 5. I hear this is quite normal for a teenager, but I haven't been a teenager since Bill Clinton was frolicking with interns.

styg, yolu need to darken Alaska a shade. I can name five right now. You, me, Jon Tollerud, arctic bronco, and danver. I think there are several more. Fun post. thanks!

I have everyone but Danver

in the list. I had no idea he was in Alaska! Is he up by you, Firstfan? I have been trying to recruit here in Ketchikan, but I haven’t given it a real good push yet. Drawback of living on a roadless island, I suppose….

Danver is my son, right here in sunny Las Anchorage.
Once again, fun post. I see 65 comments in the first few hours.

like active in the last week? month?

I know there are more than 5 users from Alaska, like firstfan said. I am not sure what benchmark styg used to define “active”.

yep we are relying on data collected in what should be

a regular “checking in” post by the membership. I’ll update these maps with everyone who gives a shout out in this thread as well. We actually have a sitemeter map that anyone can check out on the sidebar that shows where all readers are logging in from (for the most part…all you proximitron users are messing it up, I’m sure), but the point of this is to honor the “active duty” members from the reserves. Some of it will require timing (ten_fiver for example), but for the most part it is hoped that it will give an accurate picture of who happens to be presently manning the fort and spreading the word. We will find ways to check in with the community like that every so often, so no one will be left out long term. I think at least twice a year checks would be relevant, and maybe more if the site ever experienced a significant change or something, like we did with 2.0.

Its all in good fun though, so no one should have any worries. I am hoping that we can even spur some active commentators from some of the “blighted” areas with these posts. If you were the only bronco fan in the Big Easy, and you saw that we had no one holding down the fort there, wouldn’t you jump in, throw on your Cutler jersey and grab you 80’s bronco D pennant and head for the barricades??? I know I would!

Actually, Dillhole Heights would be a pretty accurate moniker.

In Greenwood, there are 3,000 people, 17 antique stores, 4 meth labs, a Sonic, 2 Casey’s, 5 roads where you absolutely must go below 25 or you will get pulled over, one Mafia family, one Italian restaurant run by the Mafia, four houses with over 20 cords of firewood stacked in the back yard, Bubba from Mama’s Family, and me.

I only have to live here for another year…

LMAO

That was too funny…I’m from Kansas originally and will give insight: There are lots of Denver fans on the western side of Kansas, but Internet availability and internet proficiency is lacking somewhat for the majority of them so they may not have found us yet.

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

Currently in Arkansas

But cut my teeth on the Broncos in 1963 working as a hot dog vendor at Mile-High Stadium to support my plush life style at Denver South. I’ve bled orange ever since. I don’t make a lot of comments, but am a serious at least twice a day lurker on MHR and really enjoy the knowledge and insights expressed here – even Zappa. Nice job Styg.

Awesome and rec’d.

This is cool to see how MHR is represented throughout the country and across the world. We seem to be represented well in Europe, there are some nice orange dots over there :-).

Well, we need 12 states to go. There are three states right near Colorado that are white, so hopefully that will change.

Good work everybody and the sky is the limit for us Broncomaniacs.

I thought we had that game won. Moving back to Tampa area. Hopefully in 6 years superbowl will be back. Broncos should be able to rebuild by then.

There are more Broncos fans out here than people would let on, especially here in the middle/southern part of the state. Myself included, obviously.

And seriously, one of these damned days . . . I’m gonna get my ass to Denver and get my ass to a Broncos game.

Didn't see the thread

I didn’t see the thread for the “where are you from” post and still don’t see it on the fan post side bar but I am in Maui and I am so thankful I found this website. This has to be the greatest football teaching site on the net and has such great thoughtprovoking discussions. I just got Direct TV so will be able to get the Sunday ticket next year and can get the NFL channel now as TWCable didn’t carry it. Add in the Sirius NFL network on the internet and MHR and I can now keep up with the NFL and Broncos. 24/7 football fix. I love it. Aloha all

I didn’t read through the entire comment thread but is there really only 2-4 actual Bronco fans in Nevada that spoke up??

Hello neighbor! The last time I was in PWS was in 1988. I was tendering herring and spent about a week anchored

up at Naked Island waiting for the opening. After the opening we went back to longlining for black cod. I think Naked Island was where the Valdez was towed to after it went kasplooey in 89. Haven’t been to Cordova yet but always wanted to, just too busy in the summer to get out very much.

I moved from Homer to Anchorage last year but I still have the house in Homer. Plan on leasing it out soon or selling it.

Black cod in the 80's was just something to do.

Black cod was a maddeningly boring job, but it had to be done to get a spot on longliners for the halibut openings. Now that I have a 12 month a year job I wouldn’t ming fishing for black cod for a week or so, but halibut fishing is still ten times more fun.

I should have recognized PWS

A friend from highschool just moved up there and is working on the Solstice, the fisheries research vessel. It was a wierd coincidence because my wife knows the crew from her work as a marine biologist, so its fun to feed the names of the skipper and what he likes and doesn’t like into the loop…

Nice representation for the Big Sky state

That doesn’t happen often in worldwide polls given our low population density. In fact, since 1990, we have only one representative in the US Congress. (C’mon 2010 census!)

A lot of Bronco fans up here, though, I can tell you from personal experience.

Add a Pennsylvanian to the list.

Being an East Coast Bronco fan is quite fun at times :)

We’ve also still got people posting on theoriginal. You’ll be happy to note, styg, that another Utah person has posted on that thread. Starting to pick up that lag!…..sort of.

Add one to Kentucky!

Was born in Utah, most recently from Dolores, Colorado, but now living in Kentucky. Mostly a military community. I am no loner in the Army, but see many bronco fans come and go as I am a mere few miutes away from Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Cool thing to note: Champ bailey was born on Ft. Campbell, Ky. His brother Boss was born in Hopkinsville, Ky (15 minutes away from me) when their father was sationed at Ft. Campbell.

It is not uncommon to claim your parents home of record as where you are from (they both say Georgia) in the Military. Jay Cutler went to Vanderbuilt (45 minutes away from me) in Tennesse. I actually work in Tennessee, and my closest friends wife attends Vanderbuilt. I am actually surrounded by Titan fans, and all seem very disgruntled about Tennessee drafting Vince Young (very sore subject down here) instead of Jay Culter.

This is fun, keep chiming in where ever you are from. My son will be checking in from here also very soon, so maybe you can add two!

I feel your pain my friend. Where I grew up it was a slew of KC fans, a slew of Dallas fans, and a few of us who bleed orange and blue. Talk about obnoxious. :)

I’m so glad to be in Colorado!

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

Great response everyone

Just so you know I will tally and update this post sometime before the draft, or maybe right after the draft. And I am getting down everyone who is adding themselves to the original fanshot, so no worries there either.

It is looking great so far! It looks like we “oranged” up a few of the missing white states, including South Dakota and Oklahoma, we are improving our western dominance by bringing Utah up a notch. We may, however, need to make a concerted effort on Kansas, Louisiana and South Carolina… I particularly think we need to target Arkansas, since we have their main man Hillis, who is bound for utter studliness in blue and orange…I know HogBlog is a hogs fan, does he live in Arkansas though? If Denver pulls a coup and gets C/G Johnathon Luigs in here, Operation MHR Razorback will be in full force.

World Domination continues as planned….The announcement of the base in Belgium is well received, and our resident Halifaxian is deep undercover. Intelligence is reporting back that we may have “map” issues, so that will be sorted out for future posts. Keep up the good work everyone.

I’m excpecting some serious Orange, gentlemen!!
