Don't think I mentioned...
He plays for WAS currently, which means he just dropped on the depth chart a little after they signed some guy named “Haynesworth.”

Wikipedia is already updated that he plays for the Broncos

I’m a little leery of this. He’s 35 years old, but still a really good safety. Hopefully we can get Taylor Mays next year and he can tutor him?
A little bit of a misnomer, for you will find no solace here.

Dawkins is the perfect transition defensive player for this team
I want to see the specific deal, but I’m thrilled to have him. He brings heart to our defense and immediately improves our woeful secondary. I hope he can give us two solid years….
Beware the wrath of a patient adversary.

also, I'd like to explain my season-long absence
During the season, there are too many posts about specific games which I get tired of reading… so I typically don’t visit the site until the “reloading season.”

I'm in
Dawkins is a step in the right direction. He may be old, but he brings wisdom, toughness, and some of that nastiness I think we need. He is a perenial pro bowler and he will make an imediate impact. We still another safety but I am happy with this. Now lets get another CB and a defensive line. Anyone heard anything on Canty or Ilshanski

I'm still not convinced...
I won’t believe it until Schefter says it’s true (although he has been behind the ball a couple of times recently).
Judgment of any system, or a priori relationship or phenomenon exists in an irrational, or metaphysical, or at least epistemological contradiction to an abstract empirical concept such as being, or to be, or to occur in the thing itself, or of the thing itself.

ALSO JUST IN—
Broncos signed S Renaldo Hill to a four-year, $10 million contract.
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports the Broncos have signed Jabar Gaffeny to a four-year, $10 million contract.
Hill was considered a huge leader for the ’Phins last season.

(I looooooove Rotoworld.com)
Someone on this site showed me Rotoworld, and they’ve been my #1 source for NFL news since! They’re awesome.

Anthony Montgomery
is an intriguing prospect. I’d give him a look for a 5th rounder. He’s probably better than anyone we’d draft in the fifth round anyway, like Terrance Taylor or someone. I say take the flier and tenter him! Anthony Montgomery, Broncos D-Line depth.
OK, I've started having dreams about the draft. Is that bad? A couple of weeks ago, I dreamed that we traded down to the #18 pick and drafted Chris Wells. (Zappa was pissed off.) Then last night I dreamed that we passed on Knowshon Moreno to get Maualuga, and Knowshon went to the Chargers. (Zappa was pissed off again.) Is it worse that I'm dreaming about the draft, or that I'm dreaming about Zappa?

Dawkins...
….was one of the very best players in the NFL last year. I warmly welcome him to Mile High. Eagles were nuts to let him go.

Congratulations on your old safety
Just convince Lynch to come back and you guys will be set.

you're right Pete
with Gibril Wilson arguably one of your best players on your D gone, we actually could prob. sign Lynch, pair him up with Dawkins, and still be better off at the safety position than your faiders.
But wait Deangelo Hall was a GREAT pickup for you guys. As was signing Walker, drafting Gallery, etc. etc.
How about this, you can start talking trash about another team’s signings IF AND ONLY IF Al Davis shows competence some time this decade. Thanks for your input though.

If you're just trying to be better than Al you're not setting the bar very high

Dementia + Money =
Al Davis
What a way to run a franchise. Somebody should take Davis’ A Beautiful Mind DVD away, I think he thinks if he signs enough players he will win a Super Bowl.

Worried about Dawkins Breaking Down!
Safety is a position that beats the crud out of players. All of the hitting usually leads to a quick decline in ability. I wonder if Dawkins is starting to have trouble getting out of bed the day after games or if he already needs help like Ronny Lott did.
Still, he’ll be a great leader and bring a much needed presence.

I thought...............
That safety had less wear and tear, they actually last longer than some. Aren’t corners sometimes moved to safety to prolong their careers? ala Rod Woodson. Of course I think that comes when a fast corner loses a step but it seems that a lot of safeties last quite a long time. Rodney Harrison was a big hitter and he lasted quite awhile. Either way, Dawkins is a huge upgrade over what we had last year. I mean who would you take out of McCree, Manual, Lowry, Fox, or Dawkins. Hell I’d rather have had Lynch back than any of the safeties we used last year with the exception of Barrett. LOL
We gotta get nastier on D!!!!!!!!!

he can tackle!
even blitz. did you even see a safety blitz last season? intimidation/hitting over the middle is back, and his intangibles just add to it. best signing as of yet, by far.
taste my blintzkrieg!
2009-year of the defense.

Agreed Dave! This is the attitude that we need to bring to defense and will be attitude that DJ and Champ will get behind too...
Problem last year is that guys like WW, The STormin’ Mormon and Barrett would bring nastiness, but a vet is not going to froth off that.
Dawkins is the equal of Champ and better than all our other vets, so they will get behind his attitude and his example.
Super stoked.
The intangibles he brings are untouchable…..think Ray Lewis with LOADS better character!!!
Those that cant coach, compete!
