Around SBN: NHL Trade Rumors: Do You Make A Move For Rick Nash?

We are not trying to trade Jay Cutler. We will not trade Jay Cutler. He's a Pro Bowl Quarterback. You can ask Josh McDaniels, and he'll tell you the same thing.

Notice he did not use the term "Franchise QB"

I am just trying to stir things up, but this was a less than ideal speed bump in free agency.

Nice reaction

It only took a few hours, and that’s not bad considering how busy they’ve been.

Vic Lombardi

FYI – regarding “Lombardi’s a big ol’ poopoo-face” meter (for those with sensitive ears and eyes)

My buddy in Denver plays flag football against Lombardi on a semi-regular basis. According to him, he’s one of those over the top, arrogant, forgets he’s playing REC league ball, overrated, individual he’s ever experienced.

Don’t make too many judgements based on other people’s opinion, but to me Lombardi just has that bad karma thang coming off of him!

I'm not doing it...I think it's a Roll.

Judgment of any system, or a priori relationship or phenomenon exists in an irrational, or metaphysical, or at least epistemological contradiction to an abstract empirical concept such as being, or to be, or to occur in the thing itself, or of the thing itself.

lol, there's no Rick man

i would never do that to a fellow bronco fan.

Really?

Are we still actually talking about this? C’mon there are still free agents to be had. Let’s move on, shall we?

That same crazy strory also said that

Scheffler is on the block. Now that I can believe. Although I really like him and hope that McD uses him, NE had 31 rec from TE’s last year…Scheff and Graham both had more than that at 40 and 32 respectively….McD just does not seem to throw to TE’s…and Ben Watson is good.

Sorry, I don't by it Xanders

He may not be activily looking to trade Jay, but there obviously were talks with Detroit and TB, why even discuss it, no way do you every look at trading your franchise QB unless there are some serious behind the scenes problems. You can answer the phone but you don’t have to listen, if Detroit called and said we would like to make a deal for Jay Cutler I would of laughed and hung up the phone. Xanders is trying to save face, he has lost all crediability with me. I think he and McD have just screwed this franchise by pissing off your best player.

I wonder if they would trade Jay and go

qb in the draft? It is a make or break year for Cutler.

McDaniels was the best option for this team. You CAN NOT overfocus on the defense and possibley have Jeremy Bates not progress with Cutler. McDaniels will watch over both sides of the ball, especially the O, while letting a defensive guy handle the D along with an intelligent GM.

I'm probably going to get drilled.

Cutler for the # 1 pick and something else???….IDK. Don’t think I’d do that.

Did'nt Mike Ditka trade all of his draft picks for one player?

When he was with the Saints——if I’m remembering correctly,
maybe a senior moment——never can tell these days……haha

freudenschade

[as opposed to schadenfreude]

Freudenschade: dissatisfaction, unhappiness, or pain as the
result of someone else’s good fortune.

I’m pretty happy about the turn of events — actually. I can’t wait to re-evaluate our draft needs now that our needs have changed. My initial impression is that we’re not going to need much help at a few of the positions of need. Although that’s not saying much.

The viewpoint from his agent Bus Cook

http://www.kdvr.com/news/kdvr-cutler-trade-022809,0,5433550.story

This sounds more like media frenzy than anything legit.

You're going to find this hard to believe, but I personally feel that it's a lot smarter to leave things to a person's imagination, let him fill things in for himself. When your own mind completes something, it's much more valuable to you, I think.

HOLY SHITBALLS

My heart skipped a beat when I read these rumors… If we trade Jay I don’t know how I will react… wow

by theflanman86 on Feb 28, 2009 6:18 PM MST reply actions

Look at it this way

honestly, how many time do you think the broncos or the 49ers or the patriots or the colts were called with stupid questions of whether they were going to unload their franchise qb. its just MSM bull**** trying to stir things up because they dont have a story.

When you set out to do what no one else can do, the first thing you do is look to your blood, you look to your buddies, you look to your friends...

the idea

of “entertaining” the trade probably speaks more to the kind of GM MR. X will be.

from a purely business standpoint, you need to weigh the value of your assets against the market. public opinion is great, but the market is brass tacks.

i can not for one second even start to believe Jay was going to be traded. unless something outlandish like peyton (and a first rounder to ease the emotional pain) came along.

hopefully the oprah aspect is smoothed over, but honestly, this might just keep everyone honest. the only way to know you are safe on this team is to perform. Mc D is hoping to bring a culture of winning to this organization. what is winning but by the way of pain?

after reading about the dawkins signing us as fans even entertaining the idea that jay could be gone is ludicrous. go orange. cant wait for september.

"I want this team to be tough, smart and prepared to play well under pressure...Everybody here in this organization is going to be held accountable to do their job — their piece of the puzzle to make this team a competitor for a championship every season." J-Mac
