Talks between Jay Cutler and Broncos now on hold
Per CBS4-Denver --
Talks between the Denver Broncos and star quarterback Jay Cutler are currently on hold. The Broncos had hoped to clear the air with Jay Cutler on Sunday, but the quarterback told CBS4 that he does not plan on meeting with Broncos officials anytime soon.
I'll re-iterate what I said before. The Broncos are correct to look into any deal regarding anyone on this team. Jay Cutler needs to realize that as much as he wants to think he is Peyton or Eli Manning, or Ben Roethlisberger, or even Phillip Rivers, he isn't. What he is, however, is an employee of the Denver Broncos. He wasn't traded, and my feelings are it is because the Broncos determined, after looking at any proposed deal, that it would not be in their best interest.
At this point I have grown tired of having to get information spoon-fed from the traditional media and I invite anyone, from either side, to contact me in order to speak directly to Broncos Fans, the most important ingredient in this entire endeavor. If anyone from the Broncos, or from Jay Cutler's camp, would like to reach me, please call (303) 731-5605.
I say, enough with the filtered message! Come speak directly to the most important people in the organization, THE FANS!!!
GO BRONCOS!

Say what you want, but to not acknowledge Jay Cutler as a true All-Pro Franchise QB
is just plain out offensive.
I agree, he is....
But this situation needs to be handled now….

Sorry Guru, I didnt mean for it to sound offensive,
O completely agree with you, I truly respect your where you are coming from here; “no player is bigger than the team”
While it is true no player is bigger than the team...
…, it is also true that in professional sports, the player has to look out to protect himself because nobody else is going to do it.
I mentioned this before when the talk was pretty hot and heavy about trading Champ Bailey, but i got the distinct impression my comments went over like a lead balloon.
We demand that our players have strong character traits like “self sacrifice” and a “team first attitude”. But do we demonstrate the same character? We, demand that the team win at all costs. If that means a player, who has given you his heart and soul and thought he was your friend, is treated like a piece of meat then so be it.
Don’t we owe these players some of our loyalty too? And if not, don’t we, at the very least, need to treat them like human beings?
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

I am really disgusted by the front office, this guy is a true Franchise Qb, the first since Elway left, and there are talks about even thinking of a trade?? thats just ridiculous. In my mind, he indeed is a Roethlisberger or a Manning or a Rivers. And i already said this, for me, this is really clear, McDanields wants to bring in HIS guys and be the commander of his own ship with his own crew. And for me that is messed up. The owner blew it big time bringing in this guy, this team already had all its pieces together on offense and just needed someone to come here and fix the defense but leave the offense alone. And now there are talks about trading your franchise QB?? thats just ludicrous

I think most people agree that loyalty is largely gone...
… with respect to the player/team once the player has outgrown his use.
But I completely agree with the statement that the players need to be treated like human beings.
If you feel the need to, pull your top 10 players in and say -
boys, we respect all you guys and want you to be with us next year. We have no plans to get rid of any of you. But for us we’re starting anew and so anything goes. If we get an offer for that we can’t refuse, then we owe it to you now to let you know that we will consider anything that comes across our table. That’s our job.
Say it at the beginning. So everyone knows the gig and no one takes it personal. That’s treating people like men but also letting them know that no one is bigger than the team

though i agree with you...
I don’t think these players should need to be reminded that they are important to the team because their pay checks indicate that. If McDaniels isn’t calling other teams to try to trade Cutler, he isn’t exactly shopping him. Listening to an offer and denying it shows faith in Cutler while not turning an offer that might (though probably won’t) help the team. They should know if there is an offer the team can’t refuse they will take it… It’s a business. They pay these players just like employees, and the employees of companies do their jobs to make the company run.
The fact of the matter is, the Broncos didn’t trade Cutler and it was obviously Denver that said no because NE would have gotten a better pick than the 34th overall from Tampa. Cutler takes things way too personally and to not talk to McDaniels to hear for himself what the situation is seems childish to me. The sooner they sort this deal out the better for the team, Cutler, and the fans.
Good point - point taken
It’s a question of a choice between treating things as
“what should be damn plain obvious and the players should know the score”
vs
“even though it’s obvious, let’s keep the important guys in the loop regardless”
On another point I think with the broncos, something that is both a bonus and a negative is that there is a core of that offense:
Clady
Cutler
Marshall (pre-arrest)
Royal
Scheffler
Kuper
Harris
These guys are all within 2-3 years age of each other. We’ve witnessed some very close friendships and i’m sure these guys were bound to make some sacrifices (or at least make it a priority) in the future to stick together.
The negative that i don’t like about this is that you rock the boat with one of them, then what does that do to the attitudes of the others? It’s human nature. And going back to my original point, if you treat everyone fairly and openly regardless of your intentions, then not only do you minimise the damage to one of your key players attitudes, but also the attitudes of the playing core. I just get the feeling that this has the potential to implode and all because management weren’t more open with their team leaders.

I want to thank you all.
I think that the truley saving grace of athletics is all the positive qualities it builds in individuals, qualities we value and label “character”. These are the things that make for great players. That’s why I encouraged all my children to become involved in athletics. Where else can they learn character as well?
Unfortunately, sometimes the fact that the NFL is a professional game works against those same positive qualities because winning becomes more important than character. Isn’t that why we get those players, and I don’t need to list them, who only think about themselves and yet get chance after chance to come back? Isn’t that why we get steriods and HGH and spygate and all the other things that fly in the face of character?
I can understand trades. Sometimes things just don’t work out, aren’t quite right and both need to move on, kind of like a marriage that has gone bad. Even if just one of the parties isn’t happy, things still need to change. Usually it’s best for all concerned.
But each still needs to respect the other.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

Yes, if I wasn't clear I meant you and...
…patdog, adam, earthtiger, FC, weazle, bradley, broncoman, and Mau. At the risk of sounding like some kind of iconoclast, I think professionalism has taken some of the best qualities out of sport. The places you can still see it best are in the neighborhood pick-up games and school yards during recess. Maybe the execution isn’t as nice but the hearts are so much more nearly pure.

Here. Here Guru.....
I am now officially done with this whole mess, and sadly, with Jay Cutler. What a little wuss bag.
Get Detroit on the phone, give them Cutler for their first 3 picks, deal one of those picks to Arizona for Matt Leinart.
If Cassel can succeed in Jedi McD’s system, Leinart will be a flat out star.
I want to get rid of Cutler now…..I am over him.
Sorry for the rant and bring on the abuse….I just dont care.
The kid is now as much to blame as the organization.

Interesting, but I think this is going to be something more of a players vs. coaches/FO
nobody wanted Shanny gone, specially the offensive guys, and I do believe, as Jay said, that he loves playing for his guys and his guys love playing for him and that if he leaves, the FO is going to have trouble with the players. Because, already, McDanields basically told his offense ´you are not my guys, i want to bring in my guys´. You can already see it with Jabar Gaffney and he wanted Cassel so how do you think all the real broncos are going to feel?? I you asked me, I´d pull for MY players and my guys, not some Patriot who came over to turn this into patriot land
+1 for the nads to say that
WHile I’m not so drastic in my opinion, I am totally pissed at Cutler for this trash. He shouldn’t be handling things through the media. And he should be taking his ball and going home from the park cause he doesn’t like how ittle wittle McDaniels is treating him. Bronco up and go talk to the organization you friggin crying windbag!!! YOU are a freaking millionaire and the Broncos pay you…this is freaking NOTHING. Bowlen went and got you the best possible coach for your future and you are playing freaking playground games with this!? Really!? You are as friggin dippy as your flipping haircut. That was a bit too much…we may have different opinions, but we’re all Bronco family around here (even PosterNutBag is my boy even though he’s ticked me off a time or two ;)
Let me take Clark’s role a bit here:
Everyone take a deep breath. We’re all going to be fine and our franchise is going to get better and better. All this drama will pass or someone (Bowlen or McDaniels) will remove the drama and keep the ship going. We have great things happening to go along with all this cockaboo crap. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Trials and tribulations happen only to those strong enough to weather them. This team will come out of it and will be better off for it.
Much love to all my Bronco family out there. :)

Why do you have a '303' number Guru?
To love the Broncos is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness.

let's see how long he takes first
i think all the questioning of Cutler’s maturity is warranted.
but give this a week or so. wait and see how long he goes until talking to them.
keep in mind, this team was shocked with the firing of shannahan, than they hire an extremely young coach, who immediately whacks jay cutlers closest link to the coaching staff.
then jay is interrupted from whatever he was doing to find out that if the chiefs had waited a day, he would have been traded……after everyone in the organization told him how much they wanted him around.
i dont blame jay for taking some time before talking to the coaches. how much time he takes is what would determine, for me anyways what kind of negative opinions i will have of cutler.
it’s also worth remembering that maybe if they have a meeting tommorrow, things are done and said that can’t be taken back. cooling off for a bit, isnt a horrible thing
Nice thoughts
I am not sure I agree 100%. I think an initial sit-down is needed, if nothing else for the correct information to be given to Jay. All Jay would have to do is listen, then leave and digest it. Then understand there was no malice involved and that he got played by the MSM,
"I don't play for the coaches"
WTF?
This guy is a prima donna. Jay, I have turned on you. I’m not about to burn my jersey or anything, but I wouldn’t mind AT ALL if we traded him right now. Jay, grow the f*** up.
Here’s who is available: Kurt Warner, Rex Grossman, Jason Campbell. So not a lot. We could trade for Leinart, Vince Young, Donovan McNabb… Yeah, trade Jay to the Lions and let him suck there. Get picks 1, 20, and a 3rd rounder. Trade the 3rd rounder for Donovan McNabb, and get Matt Stafford with the #1 overall.

Again why are you mad at Jay
Jay speaks his mind and let’s rip him, Jay doesn’t come out and say it in the press let’s rip him, Jay is kissing McD ass he needs to grow up. Look, he is the QB of the Broncos and with the money also comes the pressure of living up to the whole Elway mystic and our own beliefs in how he should act.
Why don’t you put yourself in his shoes for once, you have been working your ass off for three years and getting beat up by the media and fans, unlike your predessor, you have not lashed out at the fans or community for putting too much pressure and you are making a concerted effort to be a piller in the community. The organization rips the rug out from under you and fires your coach without warning, then you lose your mentor and best friend on the team, now it comes time for free agency and they decide to replace one of the best WR on the team, and also want to trade you, why would you want to come in and play nice with a new coach that has not shown you any respect.

Is he running off to the press or is he answering the questions
You want to bash him for giving an honest answer to someone asking it, that’s being a prima dona?
You need to accept that Jay is who he is, what has he done to earn this hatred, is he out partying, is he slapping women around, fighting dogs, guess what, every QB has an ego, that’s part of the position, you don’t think Warner or Manning have the same egos?

Broncoman, I appreciate your defense of Jay
and basically, I’m aghast at how everyone’s handled this situation. Talk about something we didn’t need.
But in all honesty, the onus is on Jay now to step up and prove himself as a mature, competent, reasonable adult that the Broncos want to build their future around. Sometimes, it means taking a shot and taking the first step, as hard and as painful as that is. He has every right to be upset, but this is just a bad way to go about resolving a situation. He’s said he wants to be a Bronco and loves the team, so let him prove it. And he hasn’t done that, and doesn’t seem open to do it. As papi and boydy have said, it doesn’t reek of righteous anger, it reeks of petulance.

But if he calls me at home and wants to talk I might do it, because it’s hard economic times, but I’ll feel he’s out of line. If they announced a meeting without clearing it with Jay, that continues the pattern of noncommunication that got them into this mess in the first place. Yes, he’s an employee, but he’s not “at work” right now so is not reasonably subject to being summoned by the boss.

And if Jay..

I’m always impressed by your posts and your passion. I don’t blame anyone for being upset over this very unfortunate situation, but wow… I join you in praying this all gets quickly forgotten. If the meeting takes place sooner or later, and Jay steps up and accepts responsibility (along with McD) then I hope they’ll be forgiven and we’re able to improve the Denver Broncos. Let's put it this way
You have been working for an organization for 3 years and busting your butt, you are now the head sales guy and they fire your manager and replace him with a kid who has never been a manager and is only slighlty older than you, they get rid of your other mentor and then come to find out your new manager wants to hire his buddy from his old company to replace you but couldn’t make a deal, would you want to come in and kiss his ass and have any faith in the organization?

It’s not like the Pats were known as a very forthright team when it comes with dealing with the press, again why are you frustrated with Jay, as near as I can tell, he has answered the questions asked of him in a truthful manner, something McD and the Broncos don’t appear to be capable of.

Cutler wasn’t important to them yesterday, he wasn’t important this morning, so why should he jump when they ask? They should have been upfront with him about things instead of him getting media blitzed. I think they need to let Cutler make at least the decision of where and when to talk, I’m sure he would have preferred yesterday before the KC deal went through. I’m just saying. He isn’t Manning yet but he’s the best QB that will still be throwing the ball in ten years so I’m tired of hearing that, Guru just put Rivers above him, for shame.

Who said
that they actively tried to replace him. Was it Vince what’s his name? Adam Schefter said (if you watch the video that is on www.nfl.com) that the Broncos were contacted by the Bucs and the Lions and that the Broncos did not give any serious consideration to the trade. Schefter seems to be the most reliable source so far and I will deem that true until further notice.

I do generally agree with Schefter and think he is reliable
But even if TB called, why entertain the offer to begin with, they could of easily said TB called us and we told them there is no way we are trading Cutler, story would of been dead and over at that point.
"Me fail english, that unpossible" - Ralph Wiggum
"Duffman is thrusting in the direction of the problem" - Duffman

I agree
That’s what they should have done but being inexperienced they didn’t. That is where I fault them, not to mention with how they have dealt with it since. It is my understanding that Schefter is by far the most reliable source among those four. Who knows who is right. It is of my opinion that if the Broncos wanted to trade Jay then they would have. There was nothing stopping them if they were “actively” shopping him around.
and if TB was offering
1st and 2nd this year and next and a #1 in 2011, would you at least entertain the idea for a few mins?
Owning the Patriots since September 9, 1960
I think it's time
for Pat to invite them both over for a few beers and explain the lines of power in the Bronco organization. If they can’t or won’t work things out between them – and that’s one of the things they’re being paid to do – then they’re obviously incapable of doing the job HE hired them to do. It makes no difference what mistakes were made and by whom. That’s how we learn. Get past them and recommit to the job and team unity or you’re gone.
why the attack?

.
It is a critical moment
for this team.
really now, think about it.
rookie coach, people already question his ability to lead guys who are his own age. and now the time comes when he has to make one of those hard decisions. find the best qb to meet the goal of being a winning team. in oredr to do that, you might hurt feelings, but it is what is best for the team. this requires those whose feelings might get hurt to step back and CHOOSE to respect the coach. it is always about buying in. the best coach in the world is useless (uhhh shanahan? ) if the team doesnt buy into the brilliant gameplan.
either Jay gets his head out of his rear and buys in, or this ship goes nowhere. maybe McD saw this already, and that made him more ready to consider grabbing a guy whos work ethic and attitiude he knows.
hmmm

Agreed!
A 35-year old, 7-time pro bowler was so motivated by the guy that he left Philadelphia to come be the focal point of the 29th-ranked defense of 2008, but Jay Cutler (who has a 17-20 career winning percentage) can’t get over his ego and buy into the coach’s philosophy.
P.S. I still don’t believe the Broncos SHOPPED Cutler. I believe other teams called, they discussed…for thirty seconds…and politely said no way.
Thats my take too Adam.....if they wanted to get rid of Cutler they could have had 10 more teams interested.

That is all very likely.
And probably the answer is a mix — some teams inquired about Cutler, the Broncos listened to offers. But it does seem possible/likely that McD mounted at least some kind of effort to bring Cassel to Denver. Whether that was justified has to do with the whole ugly Pandora’s box we’ve been opening here….and if true, Cutler has every reason to be upset. But his reaction, as we’ve mostly agreed, has now gone over the top…

To a point, yes.
And I’m still mainly on his side in this one. But he does need to show his willingness to communicate with the team — yes, they’ve blown it multiple times. But here’s his chance to show himself a bigger person than what he’s come across as. If he wants some time to cool off, I support him. But if he’s just putting it off because he wants to hold a grudge, not so cool.
See… this is why we need more facts… Sigh.

I think we need to ALLOW him time to cool down
If it was me I’d stew for awhile before I was ready to talk, especially if they just assumed I’d do it when they were ready. Problem is, he’s in the eye of a media storm and we all want him to instantly cool down and make nice.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass, Jay.
I think you deal him, now. Obviously Jay has a petulant demeanor that isn’t going to sit well with McD and Co. McD isn’t even a decade older than Jay. Cutler needs to get his shit straight. When you make some of the mistakes and comments he has, you better be able to back it up. To me, he isn’t going to be here in 2 years anyway. He is going to leave so might as well start aknew now.
Cutler to Detroit for a pack of draft picks. 2 LB’s and a DT taken with first 3 picks. If you secure the one, maybe deal it to someone. Tons of options now.
I will take Jeff Garcia or Warner. as my qb.
I could live with Garcia or Warner if Cushing and Rey Rey are on D with DWard in the backfield.
Oh Please
To everyone who is calling Jay a crybaby or whatever:
Put yourself in his shoes. He has to find out THROUGH THE MEDIA that his job and life were going to change immeasurably. Not only that, but the organization that he’s busted his ass for over the last three years thinks that he’s no better than a QB that hadn’t until last year started a game since high school. Then, less than 24 hours later, the organization beckons him from vacation to come talk. He’s probably understandably a little POed, and do you think that maybe, just maybe he wants to get a chance to cool off so that he doesn’t do or say anything that he regrets.
Also, perhaps “I won’t be meeting with them in the near future” means, “water under the bridge. I don’t see any point in prolonging this story.”
He would have gone to the meeting then...
I love to be an optimist, but either way, this ends ugly. You are losing your qb either way except one ends up with compensation.
He could be resentful to McD.
Until he comes out and says he met with the team and he wants to be a Bronco for life and McD does the same and they are all hunkey dorey, I’ll be skeptical.
I could live with Garcia or Warner if Cushing and Rey Rey are on D with DWard in the backfield.

True.
It makes sense that they are going to be secretive. Obviously, Cutler is resentful and McD is making things worse. Now, you have a ticked off qb from a past regime who wants out, but is being nice about it.
I could live with Garcia or Warner if Cushing and Rey Rey are on D with DWard in the backfield.

Regardless of what has happend up to this point,
Jay and the Broncos need to sit down and talk this out. Set up a meeting and don’t cancel it. I mean if I were him and I heard trade rumors about me ( even if there was no trade ) I would want to know why and clear the air. Sometimes people have to put their pride aside. I hope the talks aren’t on hold for too long.

Football is a business, they listened to trade talks, and they didn’t trade you. Fucking grow a pair, and get over it. ohhhhhhhhh shit, from schefter
But Cutler’s agent, James "Bus" Cook, called Sunday night to say that his client isn’t in Denver, has no immediate plans to be in Denver and doesn’t know the next time he’ll be in Denver.
On top of that, there was and is no meeting scheduled between Cutler and the Broncos.
"At some point in the future, I’d imagine there probably will be a meeting," Cook said. "But right now, there’s absolutely nothing scheduled. There’s nothing to (the speculation)."
Meanwhile, Broncos sources have maintained just as adamantly that Cutler isn’t on the trading block and will not be dealt.
So there is plenty to talk about it regarding Cutler and the Broncos. But for the time being, those talks aren’t occurring between the two sides.
Looks like meltdown in Dove Valley has begun

There’s nothing to the speculation. Perhaps Jay is being a lot more mature than people realize by just letting water go under the bridge.
Also, as a part-time conspiracy theorist, what if McXanders asked Jay if they could leak this so that everybody else on the roster realizes that no one is above critique/examination and also to let FAs know that no positions are penciled in yet.

I don't think this sounds so bad
The confirmed facts in this mess are so, so few. We’ve all seen the way these news stories get built. People repackage the material of others, and pretty soon speculation and paraphrasing has become accepted as the historical record. Lik the conventional wisdom thatt Al Gore claimed to have “invented” the internet, even though he never said so, and never used the word “invented” (to take one example). I just hope that cooler heads prevail and that Jay and his agent don’t do anything stupid while this blows over.
Let me ask a question here
For all the people saying Jay should grow up and other Jay bashers here, why are you defending McD. He is a rookie coach with no ties to Broncos, Jay has played his guts out for this organization for three years, with playing a whole season with undiagnozed Diabeites and never taking a game off, yet you all want to bend over backward and make excuses for a guy who was trained by one of the most insecure, bitter and cheating coaches in the league, why do you give him a pass and yet want to crucify Jay?

If somebody already posted this I apologize—but I am wondering about all the Jay bashing. At the end of the phone interview on CBS 4’s website, Jay says “I hope I am back in Denver.” It sounds to me like the situation is salvagable. I don’t blame him for being pissed, and maybe some cooling off time is necessary.
And for everyone saying the Broncos need to apologize to Cutler—am I the only one who wishes it wasn’t too late to apologize to Mike?

But I am sorry, you don’t come into an organization as an offensive gur and then try to run the best player in the franchise out of the building within two months, that is just bad coaching and you have basically spit on everything that the Broncos have tried to build in the past four years, you want to make adjustments to the offense fine, fix the defense great, tear down the organization so you can have your guys, no thanks.

I think a lot of people were going with the flow
but the reaction is a great indicator that many fans hadn’t completely bought in. The same thing is happening on the Cutler side, where some fans hadn’t quite gotten over the way he handled some comments last year, or other ‘issues’ he has had, including winning%, or whatever.
Both sides are still coming to terms with the other. Despite the relative peace of Bronconation as little as 24 hours ago, those questions still existed for part of the fan population, and this merely brings them out into the light of day. I wouldn’t be surprised if some are surprised by how they feel, or that this could upset them so much.
From my own point of view, I don’t think either side intends to do harm to the Broncos, and beyond that, everything else is just resolution.

I’ve been trying to keep up with this thread but I can’t get to the bottom of the page and now I have to go to work. Have fun, people. This is just like a game thread.

One positive to remember
Even if Jay is traded or McD (no relation to the imaginary “McDonalds” that took down B Marsh). MHR will still have the best fan base at this web site. Thanks to everyone who is passionate about the team.

I have visions of Damon Huard being our starting QB next year...
just saying—there isn’t much out there.
I don't even want to contemplate that thought
I much rather think of Jon Gruden being our opening day coach or other firery SB winning coach with pronounced chin.

I liked the Dawkins signing, but I really wanted a run at Canty.

It is interesting, I know the Ravens had something like 3 years for 24 mil
If you look at what we had to pay Dawkins (basically 3 mil more than the Eagles) I would asume Ray would want 3 years 30 mil range to leave Baltimore, not sure if he is worth that for two years.

This whole fiasco
that started as a non-story has been blown up into a major issue (for the moment) largely by unnamed sources. This might be the high school journalist in me, but that shit needs to be taken with a grain of salt. We have whispers on the wind carrying this story from humble beginnings to the top of the fucking mountain.
I honestly can’t wait for this to die. Jay, grow up. Fire the PR team. Get your shit together, fellas. Act like the professionals you’re paid to be.
I am Jack's unbridled optimism.

Cutler’s latest statement:
“they want me to come in and talk to ‘em…but i am not doing it right now; i’m going to lay low. The Broncos deny everything. That’s a problem. We know for a fact they tried to trade me”
I'm with Boydy...
Sounds to me that Bus Cook is a problem. His number one client is the biggest drama queen in sports, and Jay is apparently working hard to take Brett’s sash title from him.
I agree
When I listen to him in post game interviews he sounds very arrogant, what has he done in the last three years? Throw some very key interceptions! He needs to be a little more humble and prove himself before he acts like he knows it all.

well
he certainly doesnt SEEM to be handling this well, and he has said some immaturish stuff, but the biggest drama queen in sports? huh?

Why did you guys try to trade your franchise QB. No respect for your players.

To the SportsGuru
“The Broncos are correct to look into any deal regarding anyone on this team. Jay Cutler needs to realize that as much as he wants to think he is Peyton or Eli Manning, or Ben Roethlisberger, or even Phillip Rivers, he isn’t.”
I don’t agree with this comment at all. The most important thing in the post JOHN ELWAY era is finding a QB to replace him and Cutler has become a rising star. You would take Rivers over Cutler you must be crazy. River is a crybaby that has tons of talent around him. Cutler wouldn’t have commanded so much trade interest if he wasn’t the real deal. Mcdumass might want to rethink his plan.
I never said...
I would take Rivers. Cutler made the comparison himself. Before that, get to and win a playoff game. That’s all. I can’t stand Phillip Rivers, and I want Cutler, but 17-20, no playoff appearances is what we have right now, for better for worse.
Now let’s get whatever rift there is patched up and go about the business of winning football games!

Coach Mac has his head up his butt and I hope Cutler makes the idiot trade him…..He is a prima donna but a franchise QB…and you don’t treat your greatest asset like that…Bowlen talking about “the kids” wisdom….what an absolute idiot. As a lifelong Bronco fan, I cannot stand this turd coming in and going for Cassel, a 2nd string nobody who has Randy Moss and Wes Welker over Cutler…still can’t believe it…almost makes me wish Shanahan was back…almost
Yes, trade Cutler
If we can get something good for Cutler, I say yes. I fail to understand what he’s done that is so wonderful…he talks a good game. He has no fire. When he throws a pick, it’s like “oh well, no biggie”. If I just came into the position as coach and was looking at tape of the guy I wouldn’t think he even cared about winning. I thought Plummer had more fire than Cutler. He also doesn’t act like a leader. With the game on the line in the final minutes, he isn’t the QB I’d want in there. Maybe he’ll get there someday, but right now, he isn’t great and he isn’t a franchise QB. I think he needs this. He needs to know he isn’t the annointed golden boy. He needs to have the sense his job is on the line. He needs to quit reading all the positive reviews about his prowess and needs to stop believing his own press about how he’s better than Elway, Favre, and Montana rolled into one.
I'm SO confused
Help me out here guys & girls i heard that cutlers agent was involved with the talks and this was nothing new, if i was cutler i would be talking to my agent and finding out whats going on. Talks about the QB should have been something in the minds of all of us B fans i like cutler a lot and hope he stays, but i was’nt shocked to here about the trade talks.
I am shocked about the attitude he has. This is the NFL and not the first time crap like this has happen, coach Mac was a Patriot he worked with Cassel so it was not a surprise to go after him. I’m not saying it was right i’m saying Cutler needs to chill out get over it because if he does’nt he will hurts us by not playing well because if feels desrepected. Remember the crap plummer went through. Last thought i really think he should talk to his agent because everyone in that office knew what was going on. THOUGHTS?
Peter King is reporting...
That Cutler requested a trade after Jeremy Bates was let go.
If this is true here’s my question: It Jay going to have a fit every time a business decision is made, or someone he’s close to is traded, cut or fired? Its only human to have feelings about these things and to want to discuss them but this is the NFL, kid.
Which means Not For Long.
It’s rarely personal. Just business.
Jay Deserves to be pissed
First McDaniels goes out and says how important Jay will be in the offense and how excited he is to work with him. Then he either comes up with a trade for Cassel, or entertains a trade for cutler, both of which should have costed him his job. Bus Cook put it nicely by saying trying to trade for another Quarterback is a vote of no Confidence. Jay Cutler is our Franchise Quarterback and McDaniels and Xanders are idiots. Both made one of the biggest mistakes of their short stupid careers as head men. And now they want jay to fly over to talk to them after they clearly screwed up. They should be flying up to Cutlers house and kissing his ass after they stabbed him in the Back. Thats what they did when they picked up the phone for that trade. I personally love watching Cutler and would be devastated to see him in another uniform, but more importantly than that, I’m pretty sure the rest of the team will be upset with the coaching staff for letting go a team leader, and one of the only players who kept the broncos alive last season. Say what you want about his mistakes, Cutler is the best quarterback to enter the league in a while. His second full season starting all year and he’s like second in the league in throwing yards. I think McDaniels and Xanders are totally arrogant to think they can do better than Cutler, and at least Xanders should be fired. I would like to see Mr. Bowlen step in and console his quarterback before he goes down as the biggest loser if we lose Cutler. I hope this situation can get resolved and soon, cause I don’t think I can stand stressing out about this any longer. Please Please do something front office or I will lose a lot of respect for the Broncos as an Organization.

Cutler is a loser - get over him
Can’t win a game to get into the playoffs even when it is against a marginal team. He clearly is interested in his stats more than winning and his ego more than the team. Folks you just have to accept that this guy is not going to be John Elway – sure he has a strong arm but so did Jeff George. Let him move on. While he is at it he can take Brandon Marshall with him – Brandon Marwshall isn’t the next TO he is worse than TO.
