Perception with out the proof: Judging by the facts.

Hi All,

This is not a post to call out fans, or dispute my thoughts vs anyone elses.

One of the great things about MHR is that we can have lively debates WITHOUT insults. I dig all the members on here. We are all passionate, well informed and 100% behind the Broncos.

Many are not happy about Shannys firing? I get it.

Many are not happy that Jay Cutler was mentioned in trade talks? I get it.

Many are not happy that we hired a young coach and have a young general manager? I get it.

BUT HERE IS WHAT I DONT GET:

The major quality that held MHR above all other sites was the ability of US as members to look at the facts of a situation and then make an educated guess or synopsis of said situation and then discuss. It was not a MSM sledge fest, like appears on the DP, ESPN etc.

Now, I have been one of the more passionate members I guess. I can get hot headed and opinionated, and I am sure as hell not innocent...no way, no how. Thats why I am writing this as a plea for reason.

I am personally over the Fire McDaniels posts, the Jay Cutler is a spoilt brat posts, the Tony Sheffler is getting traded posts. All they are doing is bringing division amongst the fans here on MHR.

The common thread in all these situations is rumor and inuendo generated by the MSM, which is forcing everyone to choose sides. We are all trying to put forth solid arguments and thoughts based on what? SUre as hell is not solid fact.....it is BS that is spun by those that really dont give 2 shits about the Broncos.

Here are the facts as we know them:

  • We have been very active in FA and signed players that have good experience in the NFL and fill needs for us.
  • Jay Cutler was mentioned in trade talks.
  • Tony Sheffler is still a bronco, and no one can determine any team that was contacted, and even if Denver is even contemplating trading him.
  • Josh McDaniels is the new head coach and Brian Xanders is the GM. There is nothing to base assumptions on whether they are doing a good or a bad job.

I am not trying to be the voice of reason, as I expect many to post back that there is tonnes of evidence for ALL or the argumenst we personally believe in.

What I am asking ALL of us to do is not to get as fired up on situations that clearly we are all widely specualting on and not to take rumors as fact of which to bash our Broncos.

Speculation, reading situations and having opinions is what makes MHR great, but we always have to remember that we are Broncos fans first and foremost.

Tearing down the HC, GM, QB based on MSM spun rumors will only serve to make their job easier as to why the broncos are a franchise in decay. We dont need to help them....we need to stand strong and hinder them.

Because when all the MSM experts tip the Bronocs to go 4-12 in 2009, it will be up to us to support our team and help our team prove them wrong.

Lets stand strong together and get behind this new incarnation.

I have also commented (not posted) that this needs to stop. Let’s talk about important things like who we have signed, who we want to sign and the draft, not give credibility to the BSM (that’s for you Papi). Great job as usual boydy and rec’d.

Thanks to Mike Shanahan, a great coach who will be dearly missed.

Hillis for starter next year. He wears special thigh pads so his solid brass balls don't give him repeated thigh contusions.

It is thought like this that drew me to MHR. Most informed, intelligent, and passionate fans of any team to be found anywhere on the web! Another reason to be proud I’m a life-long Broncos fan!

I think we need a name for the the year... a banner to rally behind... Last year it was the quest.

It's not just us

Over the past week I was reading about how the LDT deal was going to fall through, his mama said he’d been disrespected, he was going to be available. None of it made sense for either side, though.

so, today Bill Williamson (here) reports that it is now a done deal and LDT will be a Charger. No shock, but it’s the same principle. As Willie the Shake said, a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing!

I have never posted to this site. I have struggled with all of the situations that have floated above the broncos like a rain cloud for the last two months. We are Bronco fans and need to move forward with the good and the bad. Great post.

The frustration of not knowing the truth grows more and more every day for me. Our world is so “on demand” now with email, cell phones, im, text, etc. When I hear news this morning that McD and Jay finally talked and the situation is “worse than before”. Then I see the Broncos deny that claim. I want to know the truth NOW. Time is crawling at this point. The most frustrating thing is the MSM is so caught up in breaking the story, they make up stories prior to getting the truth. Was it Lou Saban that said, “They’re killing me Whitey. They’re killing me.” That saying certainly applies to the MSM.

Just kidding, I don’t know how your post could offend anybody, but I certainly was not. During this entire firestorm, I’ve felt that you and I were thinking along the same lines, and I’m totally down with what you wrote then, and here.

I can’t wait for training camp to start to see how this team comes together. I can’t wait to see what MdD has in store for the offense, and I REALLY can’t wait for the defense to start to resemble something that is not offensive. :) I hope that Nolan can force this unit to play better. On that note, I can’t wait for the draft to see what kind of players we are going to be grooming for the future of this kick ass defense.

i love this kind of forum, where we as fans get to interact with all the crap slung around by an apparently biased and often blind msm. it is frustrating to see the sky falling in one post after another, but even through all of that, MHR is truly unique in the depth and courage of broncos fans to face head on the challenges facing our beloved donkeys/broncos.

i cant imagine only being able to read / hear these various “reports” and not be able to discuss them with such an informed and intelligent group of fans.

despite all the hornswoggling and burpjuggling about mcjedi this and trade that, one thing i am confident in is that come september i will be bursting at the seems just as all of you will be. go orange.

I’m afraid that all the comments here on MHR have also helped fuel the MSM crappola; and make Raider, Chiefs and Chargers fans happy; and also (maybe) make it more difficult for the Bronco FO and Cutler to get over it.
Let’s all put a lid on speculation, at least until something real happens.

I meant to read this last night but never got around to it. Glad I read it today. I have been feeling this way and I’m glad you got it out for everyone to see, as I can tell from my short time here that you are really respected in the MHR community. The whole reason I stopped messing around with the ESPN board was because I found this one to be waaaay more reasonable, logical, and informing. This post pushes to keep it that way, and I love that. Keep on holdin up the standard!

Rec'ing a post

is short for “Recommending a post”. At the bottom of Boydy’s article, you will see some icons, with orange commands next to them (print, email, etc.) You will notice one of the commands has a page witha green arrow on it and says “Rec”. If you click this button, the post will show that you have given it a recommendation. As of this post, boydy’s article has 22 recs. If you click it, it will bump it up to 23 recs. Its a way of showing appreciation for a post (in addition to a comment) and if a post gets enough recs, it will be bumped up to the top of the fanpost list, where it will stay for a number of extra days. This helps good posts stay where they can be noticed.

You also notice a button on every comment that posts, called “actions” with a little gear beside it. If you click that, you will have the option to “rec” that comment, or even flag it as inappropriate.
