Look at this Colt's Fan's view.
BigBlueShoe is well known to us older members of MHR, from the old radio day's. He has a little post about this whole mess on the Sampede Blue front page. It is rather biased, since he only looks at Cutler's view of this whole thing and hates all things Patriots. But he had one good line, which sums up my negative feelings towards the coach, and it has nothing to do with Cutler.
He says: "It is really, really hard to respect someone who thinks Matt Cassel is better than Jay Cutler. It is even harder to respect someone when they would rather stock the team with "their guys" rather than try to work with the talent available."
When Tomlin went to Pittsburg they told him to leave the D along, eventhough he was a Defensive Coach. Why Couldn't McD do the same? Our offense was ok, even though some of the play calling showed inexperiance last year.
Fix the weakness, don't mess with what was working. That just seems so clear to me that it makes everything else irrelevant.
I wouldn't want to play for a coach who didn't seem to make the right decisions either, no matter how much of good guy he was or how much energy he had. Get over yourself before you have to manage others coach.

So what's the difference?
Shanny was the same way. He had his own players and coaches and it worked for awhile. Then it caught up to him and started working against him. Just ask Jake Plummer.

Well, I agree with you
That has been my point all along, the defense is the major problem with our team, if McD is a “guru” then he should be able to make a great offense better with the talent it has and maybe bring in some minor pieces. But McD just strikes me as someone who is insecure in his ability and wants to cover it up by getting “his guys” in place.

aside from Cassel
McD hasn’t really made any significant motions to show that he’s trying to get “his guys” in place over “our guys”.
I understand he’s signed a lot of free agents so far, but understand that if something wasn’t working last year, you need to change that. As far as everyone else in the league goes, I could care less. I don’t care what Panther fan or Cowboy fan or even Colt fan has to say about our situation, they don’t know anything more than we do…I welcome all points of view, but the fact remains the same, I don’t let other peoples opinions influence my personal views on things.

The Paxton for Leach change
could certainly be interpreted this way, and while this may not be construed as a major motion, it appears that it did have an effect on the locker room. I heard Brandon Stokely talking about it.
Leach was not broken, but he was fixed….

Stokely on Leach being cut:

This is where i am very confused
I had thought and maybe I am wrong about this. I thought Coach McD was brought in because he is a QB guy and could do wonders with Jay. So why and try and get Cassel when you already have a great Qb like Jay. I am really worried that he is not the guy Bowlen thought he was getting. The way this is being handled is really scary. I really hope next year proves me wrong. They way this is handled seems to me he doesn’t have clue on how to work with Qb’s or a team for that matter. I like a lot of what he is doing, except this whole Jay thing is crazy, even if Jay is being a little biatch.. His job is to not let this get this bad. First Coach Shanny then Jay ,man as this been the most stressful off season ever.

Jay once said
McD told him he took the job to work with Jay. Now jay is mad because of….. well I cant figure it out because McD said he will not trade Cutler which means he wants to work with Cutler right?

I also made the comment about Tomlin not messing with the D in Pittsburgh
But I was told that Tomlin had a lot more pieces in place. I agree, and the biggest piece was Lebeau, but I don’t see why you revamp an offense that was for the most part efficient (except in the RZ). I think the pieces on our 2008 offense were comparable to the pieces on the Steelers D in 07 when Tomlin took over. Man up, tweak the offense, and fix the defense. That’s what I was expecting McD to do from jump street.

And he has done what?
beef up the defense and tweak the offense yeah?

Seriously...
When Shanny was fired, people were looking to get a defensive-minded coach (I wanted Steve Spagnuolo or Leslie Frazier), but they kept going back to McD. Bowlen must have seen something special in him, going back all those times to make sure (or whatever other reason) and then hiring him knowing full well about the defensive problems.
Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, the Broncos haven’t even played a single game, and people want him gone. What if he does get fired now? Then what? And what if he ends up taking whatever team he ends up coaching to the playoffs? Just because we didn’t have a little patience.
Sure, he’s bringing in some of his own guys, but so what? If Gaffney knows the system, he can help the other players get up to speed; and if he trusts McD, he can reassure the other players that he’s not some dumb kid playing with the wrong toy gun he found in the closet.
If this offense was great but not quite there yet, maybe it needs someone like McD to come in and just give it the nudge it needs. If switching a couple players is what it takes, then so be it, let’s see what happens come Week 1.
And, geez, I’d like to how ya’ll feel when McD gets fired, and some defensive coach comes in and decides to hear offers about trading Bailey and DJ. I mean, it’s not like they’re the franchise QB, right (don’t answer that)?

When and where did McDaniels say that he thinks Matt Cassel is better than Jay Cutler? These two are having enough trouble communicating without others adding things that weren’t said just to muddy the waters. As for shaking up the rest of the team… isn’t that what the Broncos were hoping for? Of course McDaniels was going to bring in his own guys. He’s going to do whatever it takes to build a winning team.
Keep the faith!

eh
1. We don’t know (and I don’t believe) that Josh McDaniels thinks Matt Cassel is a better QB than Jay Cutler. If he did, we would have gone after him and gotten him and made the trade – think about it, you get a better quarterback AND draft picks? You’d have to be stupid to pass that up. BBS’s ‘logic’ doesn’t make any sense.
2. Our offense was just “OK” last year, sure we racked up a lot of yards, but our red zone scoring was a mere 16th in the league, aka average. We could stand to get better, McDaniels said he would try to improve all aspects of our team. He’s the guy who took Brady from really good to elite and took Cassel from almost cut scrub to decent starter in one year. I am still hoping to see what he can do with Cutler.
3. The trade was not going to be Cutler for Cassel. It was going to be Cassel plus a few picks for Cutler, and if Josh McDaniels thought it would make our team overall better, then that’s what he should do, ultimately they decided that keeping Cutler over those other options would be best.

Well in defense
1.) Nothing has been confirmed but reports are that New England nixed the deal, not us, my theory is that the trade was this: Cassel to the Broncos, Broncos send NE their 2nd round pick, Cutler to the Bucs, Bucs send their 1st round pick to Denver, now that makes a lot more sense on every perspective since NE squashed the deal since KC’s offer was better.
2.) Our defense sucked hard last year, they had moments of clarity (atlanta, NYJ, Raiders on Monday night, and TB), but there were so many games where they completely caved in.
3) McDaniels has admitted that the trade didn’t happen because they got into the game late, not that he decided it wouldn’t make the team better.

Im confused
Reading a lot of these post if i had no knowledge of the situation it would seem the cutler was actually trade or that he would has been if McD could have. If he wanted alls he had to do was give up a second rounder. So my guess is he would have, and he didn’t. Now he says he won’t trade Cutler. So what is the problem exactly? Cutler is the problem, him and his greedy agent. Let me guess Shefler is upset because he dosn’t feel wanted either. What a load of SHIT!!! Cutler wants a paycheck and now that Shannahan and Bates are gone he dosn’t care where it comes from. He would rather get paid somewhere this year. Instead of waiting a year removingg any dobt in any coach, fan, or owners head that he is the real deal. Which i think he is. I believe it is the exact opposite of what Cutler portrays. Its him who is partial to the Broncos, not the Broncos who are partial to him. That my take atleast since its Cutler selling his houses and asking to leave not the Broncos cleaning out his locker and seeking one.
