This has to Stop...

We have all read the papers, listened to the TV spots, and the idiots who would love nothing better than to see our classly organization fall apart.

Its quite apparent that in regards to Mr. Culter we either;

Sign him to a long term extension as a sign of good faith...

or

Trade him to the place where all talent dies...Detroit. NO WHERE ELSE.

Obviously its clear that each side isn't budging. We need Jay, he needs us, and we hold the cards. He needs to get over it now, stop making this into more than it was, and lets all move on to an off season that I was really looking forward to. Or we let him sit it out and come back when he's ready to act like the leader we all know himn to be.

Any other place than Detroit and Culter wins. It's sad that it has gotten to this, but true.

Northen Bronco...

"Even in Canada, we love our Broncos..."

Who do we get

For cutler from detroit? McDaniels said on Saturday that they don’t want any draft picks for Cutler.

by stedtfeld on Mar 16, 2009 3:40 PM MDT reply actions

i think he meant JUST draft picks. He’s saying he doesn’t want any of the QBs coming out this year, and I totally agree. They’re marginal at best.

I’ve floated the Cutler, Scheffler, and Marshall for Calvin Johnson and the #1 overall, and others have jumped in to say they don’t want the #1. So maybe something more like Calvin Johnson, the 20th, the 33rd, and the Lions 1st next year for that package. Either idea leaves you a bit in the wilderness as far as a QB goes (we’re stuck with Simms and a vet this next year in all likelihood), but I with the schedule and a rebuilding D we’re in trouble next year anyways.

The more I think about the latter package the more I like it. 2 firsts in 2010 gives you all the leverage needed to go after Sam Bradford, whom I believe to be the next big thing at QB — and he’s a real leader and upstanding guy too, which is more than I can say about Cutler these days.

by thedoctor on Mar 16, 2009 4:06 PM MDT up reply actions

Interesting idea

I agree about not wanting the #1. However, getting multiple first rounders and even a future first would be fantastic. Plus Calvin Johnson. Wow. I like it.

by adamriggs on Mar 16, 2009 4:09 PM MDT up reply actions

There is absolutely no reason...

to sign Jay Cutler to a long term contract. He still has 3 years left at first round money and has not out played his current deal. If a kid throws a tantrum because he wants a toy, you don’t correct his behavior by giving it to him.
I agree that IF we trade him, we send his ass to Detriot (only for a deal we can’t turn down). But I believe we will let him sit and pout, even holdout without giving in. The Broncos have all the leverage. Let’s see how he and his teamates feel after he has sat out training camp, pre-season…

by DBronx777 on Mar 16, 2009 3:52 PM MDT reply actions

I think Pat Should tell Jay:

“If you want a new contract, prove it. Go out there and set the world on fire this year, and I’ll pay up next offseason.”

Then watch as Jay is extra motivated, we are first in scoring, go 13-3 (baby) and win the Super Bowl!!

Stop the Jay-trade talks!! Just stop it!! -Mike Clark

Although...

….I think that would have happened without all this ^^$. That’s the shame of all this.

If Detroit doesn't have the right deal on the table...

Keep him for a year, whether he plays or not.

Then after this year, trade him in a 3 way trade that would give us Cassel from KC. I don’t want Cutler in our division after he’s traded.

Peyton Hillis in '09.

Name him---Mr. Balls....or Thunderpussy.

by Joe Medina on Mar 16, 2009 3:59 PM MDT reply actions

We may not even have to trade for Cassel.

He is only under contract for the upcoming year. Not that I want him, just pointing it out.

by adamriggs on Mar 16, 2009 4:07 PM MDT up reply actions

Hell, why don't we get Griese back?

As I recall, he had a pretty good year once…

Shanny thought he didn’t need a ProBowl QB once too. And 8 barren years later he drafted one.

Griese WAS a Pro Bowl QB

It's a win / win.

We’ll keep Cutler, in which case I believe things will work themselves out. Or we trade Cutler, and get the Earth, Moon, and Stars in return.

There is nothing to fear. All will be well.

Can we send Bus Cook to Detroit?

I can think of better places to send him.

Good

In the meantime, can someone post a photo of Cook? Just so that if, you know, one of us was to run into him on the street, we could behave appropriately.

LMAO

Nice

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

by sadaraine on Mar 16, 2009 4:55 PM MDT up reply actions

Wow.

Marshall (a problem), Scheffler (injured all the time) and Cutler (A crybaby who refuses to look off the safety) for Calvin Johnson (a freak), the number 20, 33 and a first next year????

First, I would take Johnson for Marshall straight up. Cutler is probably worth the 2 firsts. Basically, you toss in Scheff to weasel out that last pick???

DEAL. DAMN, MATT MILLAN IS GONE. We’re a season too late.

I would do that deal in a heartbeat.

I presume this is a reply to me. Cutler, Marshall, and Scheffler are good players, and players with already-present chemistry. 2 of them are pro-bowlers under the age of 25. I think it’s as close as both sides get to fair value.

Detroit could land 3 offensive pieces and Aaron Curry?

They should do it. =-)
