Cutler/Cook/Broncos Speculation
Hey, everyone. Please excuse the look of this post as I do not know how to edit, but I do know that there are numerous Cutler and Bus Cook threads. As a Bronco fan, it is hard to watch a team go through this, but there is some steam in the engine. Jay Cutler has proven that he now wants very little to do with this team after McDaniels is making it clear no one person is bigger than the team.
Look at who the Denver Broncos have signed so far. Goodman, Peterson, and Dawkins are obviously here to be leaders and play a role. The other guys signed are team players who are going to give it all they have and not be moody.
In reality, we have a will be 4th year quarter back with a bad attitude, an ineptitude at making his own decisions, and a tendency to lock eyes with a free safety as if he were his girlfriend. That is a major set of issues. I understand that Cutler is perceived as a possible franchise quarterback. However, what makes it a guarantee that he will be? Someone with his attitude will not make it 15 years in the NFL. Cutler, who has more career losses than wins, is digging himself a hole he will not be able to get out of.
The Denver Broncos have Jay Cutler signed to a deal that lasts 3 more years. The best quarterback on the market is Jeff Garcia and we already signed our other option in Chris Simms. McDaniels is pulling a Belicheck and sticking to his guns. All traces of Shanny are being blasted away from Dove Valley. The Goodmans are gone. Little is left except, well, Putzier.
With that said, what is the ideal way for this whole debacle to play out? None of us have really said how we think this is going to end up? Is Cutler a Bronco or a Lion or maybe a Buc? Is he disgruntled, setting himself up to leave in 3 years anyway? Either way, both the Denver Broncos and Jay Cutler lose to some extent. Keep in mind money, picks, the offense, the defense, and of course, Bus Cook. What do you think will happen?
I, personally, say don't let the door hit you on the way out, Jay. Trading him would rid the team of a headache and send a message. Detroit could offer things that would leave the Broncos missing only one piece, a quarterback.
Hold on, before you start screaming that qb is the most important position, McDaniels track record must be looked at. He transformed Cassell, who in my opinion is about as good as Kyle Orton, into a very competant qb. He has worked with Brady. Mike Nolan will be working the defense. Do not forget about him.
All in all, I think that Jay Cutler will be sacked 63 times next year. Chris Simms will win the starting job and do a fine job. The newly found studs on d and the one on offense will be a great help. The specials teams will be improved because of the added depth.
Ok, how do you guys think this will end? Trade ideas? Contract options? A giant hugfest between management and Cutler? Who knows?

Haha
The Spleen!!!
Cutler, Marshall, and Scheffler to Detroit for Calvin Johnson, 2009 First Round Pick (20), 2009 Second Round Pick (33), and 2010 First Round Pick (?).
Get it done, McD.
What can you do for a team with 4 picks that early? I'm salivating at the combonations.

Therefore
anyone writing about him who is a resident of La La Land must refer to Chris Simms as the Spleen!

Jay Cutler
Is the best young talent in the league. I don’t think we will fare nearly as well with Simms behind center, and aren’t we supposed to be thinking about what’s better for the Broncos? McDaniels already said that they don’t want draft picks for Cutler, so who would we trade with?

Does anyone realize what we're doing?
Everyone is talking about how Mcdaniels can take any late round or washed up qb and turn him into a star. Does this remind you of someone?

Yeah, kinda scary...
But at least he showed he can do it with Cassel…Shanny only had success with Elway and Plummer.

oh...
well he was batting above the mendoza line with those guys too. TD, Anderson and Gary were all productive…just this recent batch sucked.

they were productive with Denver
and its worse with qbs because you can’t afford a “bad batch”
by broncofan91 on Mar 16, 2009 8:52 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agreed...
but I want to see what McDaniels can do…benefit of the doubt sort of thing. I think as long as he had a lot to do with Cassel’s success then we have something to be excited for.

I agree
but if there is a way to keep Cutler and Mcdaniels here then thats what I want to do.
by broncofan91 on Mar 16, 2009 9:11 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
But the fallacy is
that McDaniels can take “any old qb” and do well.
If he believed that was true we would have Simms and that’s that, no reason to plonk down $14 MILLION for Cassel. This is the part I hate about this whole thing – if you can do it with Cassel, you can do it with Cutler, for $6 million less!

Truly
and what a sad statement on the modern NFL.
“Don’t play because you could make more money off these schmucks.” I know it is a business, but it rubs me wrong. Yick.

Time out on RBs
The OC ran out of options and they had Peyton as a last resort. Nothing to do with coaching, just there were no other options.
U guys may be too young to remember but a a HOF running back had a fullback, converted running back named Brian Picalo that cleared the way. Peyton could be that and more.
